Auf Wiedersehen Petrovic

Auf Wiedersehen Petrovic

Win all ranked multiplayer variations, 120 races and “Cops ‘n Crooks”, as both sides.

How to unlock the Auf Wiedersehen Petrovic achievement in Grand Theft Auto IV - Definitive Guide

First up, you must win at least one match of each Ranked multiplayer variation. Not including Race or GTA Race (we'll come to these), they are:

Deathmatch
Mafiya Work
Car Jack City
Team Deathmatch
Team Mafiya Work
Team Car Jack City
Cops 'n Crooks (win as both Cops AND Crooks in the same match)
Turf War
Deal Breaker
Hangman's NOOSE
Bomb da Base II

Note that you can only do some of these game types with friends in Party Mode, the rest will have to be done with random people. The game types you can play in Party Mode are:

Team Deathmatch
Team Mafiya Work
Team Car Jack City
Cops 'n Crooks
Turf War

Now, you also have to win EVERY RACE in EVERY RACE TYPE in both Race AND GTA Race. There are a total of 54 races, bring the grand total amount of races you need to win to 108.

You only need 2 people for the races to start but it is very hard to boost for this as getting matched up with friends is very hard and the races don't usually start until there is 6+ people.

This will take awhile and needs plenty of dedication. Good luck!

**Update: 3rd January 2010**

Here are some very handy tip posted Johnny Jerkweed in the Comments section:

Johnny Jerkweed said:
For the road races, don't try to be the fastest. Play conservatively and let everyone else screw up. Slow down for hard corners. Most people lay on the gas the entire time and overshoot corners. The time they waste backing up to make the turn is way more then what they gain by accelerating non-stop the whole race.

Try the different car choices until you find one you're comfortable with. I've been using supercars just because I got used to them due to it being the default choice. My preffered supercar is Turismo because it takes turns the best. Most people pick the Comet for some reason, it could be the fastest but it is AWFUL at turning.

I prefer to put traffic on high to kind of level the playing field a little when playing against others who have all the tracks memorized and are good at them. This bit of randomness could screw up more experienced players and since I feel I'm pretty good and dodging traffic it can work to my advantage.

Once you beat a regular (non-gta) race, try to get the gta version of it next while the track layout is still fresh in your mind.

For helicopters, the Anhillator is the fastest but can be difficult to handle. Unlike street races though, it's worth it to go for speed in this case.

For the cannonball runs and free races, I press start immediately, while the timer is counting down and set the waypoint to the first checkpoint. You should be able to do this and back out of the start menu before the race even starts. Another thing about waypoints is, although they only show the fastest 'legal' route, I still recommend using them, especially on ones involving bridges. If you don't, you could end up under a bridge you're supposed to cross and no where near the on-ramp to it.
Here is a checklist of all races. It will help keep track of what you have won and what you need to win.

How can you bridge? Is that banworthy?
0
0
By BPBPBPBPBPBPBP on 24 May 2009 17:08
I will not discuss how to bridge as it it frowned upon by many gaming communities as it is exploited and is generally considered cheating. Bridging in this game however, is mearly used as a tool to assist boosting and is NOT against the Microsoft Terms of Use or Code Of Conduct (I have read them both in full) if used in this manor. If you use it to cheat, then yes, it is banworthy.

"Why the hell 4 negatives"

Because there are some immature 15 year olds that were on my friends list that I removed and they thought it would be funny to vote negative on all my solutions. They even posted my mobile number all over the web as well create gamertags similar to mine which they gamesaved on to try and get me banned.

Seriously, they are so pathetic :D.

I think it would be safe to say that it did count as a win. Just remember/write down which race it was so if you don't get your achievement, go back an win it again.

Good luck!

I've been doing this legit and about half finished. Seems kind of stupid to boost for it when it wastes so much time trying to match up with friends anyway.

A few tips that might help some:

For the road races, don't try to be the fastest. Play conservatively and let everyone else screw up. Slow down for hard corners. Most people lay on the gas the entire time and overshoot corners. The time they waste backing up to make the turn is way more then what they gain by accelerating non-stop the whole race.

If you don't, you could end up under a bridge you're supposed to cross and no where near the on-ramp to it.

All I can think of for now. Good luck

I did this legit (after boosting only got me 4 wins out of the 108 races/GTAraces). And I played about 3-4 hours a day. It took me (surprisingly) only 6 days to get the achievement... Only do the tracks you haven't won yet and update your checklist after every win. Also, if the host is starting a race you don't need to win, leave the lobby when the countdown timer is at 3 seconds! This has increased my chances for being the host dramatically!! (unless there are multiple lobbies)

btw. some people will vote to kick you if you choose to play a cannonball run or free race or anything besides a super-car race..

@Reaper08R It sounds like the guy quitting would be your issue. It's good to use a checklist for this and make notes of anything 'weird' that happens like in your case. Doing so would save you so many hours work.

I don't think you have to have the highest score in a TDM. I don't think I ever got the most kills and I got this fine.

By ezekiel 08 on 03 Apr 2010 08:50
The races don't usually start until there is 6+ people? Weird... I was pretty sure they started when everyone in the lobby pressed A ( to get ready) which can be 2 people.

By Riispawn Nation on 15 Apr 2010 21:39
@attackinTHEroof You can start any Race or GTA Race with only two people. The problem is that the race won't start if it is connecting more players. So even if there is only two gamertags listed, more people are joining 'in the background', hence the race won't start.

By ezekiel 08 on 15 Apr 2010 22:04
You can press X in the lobby though and that will show a list of players, and hence show players joining the game but not in the lobby.

one tip i dont think anyone has mentioned yet is if youre doing this with a boosting partner and doing a race that the other player has already won, have him ram into the opponents (if there are any) from the very beginning so even if u mess up a turn or a couple u still have very high chances of winning the race :)

Does anyone know?
Car Jack City cannot be started if there're less than 4 people in the lobby. BUT if someone leave the match, you can finish Car Jack City with 3 or 2 players. Does it count to the achievement? I won everything but achievement didn't pop :-/

The Comet is used the most because it is the fastest car also there are many tricks to make your car go faster to win the races.
If you use the comet hold a and rt at race start and let go as it hits go small boost.
Learn to drive on the bumps of road it makes the car go faster .
Driving on the pavement has the same effect .

@khassandr If you want to boost this, 'bridging' is your best option. I won't dive into the details but it allows to to meet up with your friend 100% of the time and no one else can join your game :).

nevermind i have manged to most races within four days so far. i started off with about 13 standard road races finished and have ended up with all but 17 gta road races left before the achievement. i usually have a better chance of being host if i skip from race to gta race whilst in a lobby as it often puts you in a different lobby as the last one you were in and sometimes gets you host. also waiting till the timer goes down from 10 to 1 and then searching for another lobby at the last second helps alot.

0
By II ESTRANGED II on 01 Jul 2010 23:25
@II ESTRANGED II I don't wanna tell people how to 'bridge' as some consider it as a form of cheating and can be used in other games to give you an unfair advantage (Gears, CoD etc). Using it in GTA IV to boost is okay as you don't interfere with anyone else's game (the two boosters get put into their own lobby by themselves).

I found this official site from Rockstar which will have all of your wins and losses for each race/multiplayer gametype. This may be helpful if you don't remember which races or gametypes you've won in.

By Kung Fu Riki on 15 Nov 2010 05:44
It also keeps track of your wins on the in-game leaderboards. I have found both the Social Club and the leaderboards to be glitchy though and miss some wins. Example, according to the Social Club I haven't even finished the GTA IV story on the 360!

Took me 2-3 days going for this achievement, I used 2 xbox's and 2 accounts, simply joining a lobby with one account at a time. If that account gets put with a bunch of people then I would wait for that match to start and just before the timer ran out in the lobby I'd search for a new game and normally it would put me by myself, I would then search with the 2nd account and if it puts me in a different lobby with other people I'd repeat the process with that account, waiting for that game to start and search on the last few seconds of the count down.

In the end, this was much easier than I thought it would be.

Just popped this today & as mentioned above by Kung Fu Riki, the Social Club is great for tracking gamemode/race wins. I had marked off every race on my spreadsheet but didn't get the achievement. Went to the social club & found out which race I mistakenly ticked off. Saved hours replaying races!!

ahhhhhhh this is driving me nuts!

I've won everything, checked on social club site and in-game leaderboards and both show I have won every race and every game mode...I've won 10 cops n robbers games and in one match was on the winning team as a cop and robber and I'm sure I've won All for One & One for All.

The only other thing I can think it might be is the 3 missions...do these have to be wins and\or passes? I've only got wins and 1 pass ATM so guess I can work on getting all three passes.

Did you win all races in both regular race mode AND GTA rave mode? Also canonball, helicopter, boat and A to B races?

I can not remember if you have to beat the par times (AKA get the Fly the Co-op achievement) but I have a vague guess that you have to beat those times.

Don't know if it's worth mentioning (may it was just me being stupid!) but I'd got a win in everything and no achievement. I was looking at the 3 missions and they all showed as having wins but it's not wins that's needed it's passes, so you have to complete the mission with a 'Passed Mission' not just a win...thanks for all the info and the speadsheet was very useful :)

Yes you can do it in single player BPBP, but that isn't the point. You can do it on the DLC disc. Which brings me back to my question. Does this achievement work same way. Able to use DLC disc for MP lobby.

By Sighris on 21 May 2014 03:41
My point was that no, you can not use dlc disc to get this achievement this solution is for. The races, missions and game modes required for the achievement is not an option when in the mp lobby from the dlc disc or dlc download.

It should be noted this achievement is buggy and may not unlock after meeting the requirements. After carefully completing every single event with a checklist, my friend got the achievement and I didn't. Had to check through every single event on the leaderboard for wins, repeated two events that didn't have a star (game won) and it unlocked.

It can be, but you mostly get a warning during the game that it glitched out. You can't see any other players, but they are still in the game, you can see the current standing in top left corner. Or no cars to be found, effectively making everyone run on foot all the way if it's a canonball race.

Never set the canonball race to no civilians, no traffic. xD

By CassiopeiaGames on 15 Jun 2017 20:06
glitched for me too... have won everything and no achievement. The only two things I can think of are:
1) Hangman's Noose only has a pass but not a win (even though I already have the achievement for beating the time)
2) The achievement for winning 20 races didn't unlock until I completed my 21st race. Maybe one of those first 20 races didn't register.

UPDATE: I had to replay 7 races and I finally found the one that didn't register. Even though it was marked as won on the leader boards and I had earned 500$ for it as well. So: screw the leader boards. They don't tell you shit.

Also, I still only have a "pass" on Hangman's Noose, which tells us that you don't need "wins" on those co-op missions.

A few notes for others that are frustrated by this buggy achievement:

1) I unlocked „Taking it for the Team“ last December using the digital base GTA IV version.

2) Recently bought the DLC digitally and also on disk for Wanted boosting.

3) Took a break from Wanted boosting to finish up the AWP achievement. Did not pop after finishing the last race. Had a win in all modes according to ingame stats.

4) Redid all the races and meticulously made sure my total cash increased by 500 after each win - still no pop.

5) Redid the other multiplayer modes, achievement popped after I finished the last mode (Cops & Crooks in my case).

Basically, this achievement is horrible, the ingame stats are worthless and your progress might get erased by switching between different versions of the game.

This does not need to be done in one sitting. I worked away at it for a few weeks and it popped exactly when I finished my last match on my checklist. Just make sure to write down each and every gametype and race as you go because they do not seem to register on the leaderboards all the time, however they are counting towards the Petro achievement.

It seems that any race that exceeds 5 mins in time has a chance to not count as a win in the leaderboards. The person I'm boosting with said something about this, and lo and behold, some of his cannonball races were over 5 mins and didn't count. Looks like you need to optimize them by a lot. Anyone else experiencing this?

@PewPewPew you need to do the fly the coop achievement too and win the three missions... probably why this hasn't popped for you. Still seems to be counting even if not on leaderboard.

I can confirm this is still doable even if your progress does not save on the leaderboard. I also did this split on my Series X and on my 360, as well as not saving in-between sessions (although it doesn't hurt to save just in case). I'm pretty sure the data for the achievement progress is stored on your X360 profile.

Just got this. I used both disc and digital versions of the game and did this over multiple days. Played on my Series X on disc and Series S digital. Unlocked on my final Cannonball Race. I also had a few wins in game modes like ranked team deathmatch from like 2008, so those still seem to count towards this. I think people who are having trouble with this one are probably missing a race or game mode that they thought they completed. Good luck!

Well I boosted for it and how many other people have do it that way? At least 90% I'd say. I (we) still had to sit there for 15+ hours grinding out all the races. So yes, I boosted it but nothing I did was actually going against the Microsoft Terms of Use or the Code of Conduct, I've read them both in full, it was a very boring read indeed.

Damn I should have known that the checklist(the picture) was made from craft... he's a god when it comes to gta iv guides. Used hi's vid's to do the co op achieve.

I've uploaded the pic on my own domain, so I have it, if people are asking about it.

I need the lvl 10 achieve, but don't know if I ever gonna care for it in the end..

Well I just won every race legit a while ago (roughly 75 hours), won Cops and crooks as both sides at least 4 times, and had at least 1 win listed on the leaderboards for all races and game modes (including co-op game modes), but the achievement still hasn't unlocked. Problem here is the game does not look at the leaderboards for the achievement, it looks at its own internal game data. So i'm left to conclude that one of the race results glitched ;(

However there was one race where i was credited with the win after the guy that came first quit at the results screen (and I got the win in the leaderboards), which the game may or may not have counted (unfortunately i don't remember which track or mode this happened on :( ). Other than that I'm pretty much stumped, and hate to think that i just wasted 75 hours of my life :(

Also, for people who have it, for team games (e.g. team deathmatch), do you just have to be on the winning team for it to count as a win, or do you actually have to have the highest score in the match?

You get a negative vote from me for not updating your solution with specific information thats essential for an achievement that is vague to start with and adding shit thats not helpful.

"You get a negative vote from me for not updating your solution with specific information thats essential for an achievement that is vague to start with and adding shit thats not helpful."

Giving someone a negative vote is sort of coupled with the expectation that you can give constructive criticism. This is hardly constructive. I'm curious as to what you feel is essential information. I have to disagree with you about adding "shit thats not helpful." I don't see anything extraneous.

NOOSE can be done by yourself locally. And I bet you could do Bomb da Base by yourself as well using the glitch to fall through the ship. Not sure about Deal Breaker though, probably extremely difficult to do by yourself, if not impossible.

Within time? I doubt it. I cant remember NOOSE too well, but the rest requires a lot of coop and lot of bullets. MAYBE Bomb da Base is possible, but as you say, extremely difficult. 4 somewhat skilled players are needed to do the missions on par time - or 4 good players with a lot of practice. I've done the par times two times on xbox, once on PC, need to get on with the PS3 version at some point as well.

Thinking about NOOSE - that's the plane thing, right? You need to kill 15 officers before the mob guy opens the door to leave the plane, and you then need to get him to the choppers - with a skilled chopper pilot getting the chopper while someone is killing the cops, you save a lot of time rather than fight the police THEN drive to the choppers.

@GalatticoRGB: Yes, that 5 minute limit is true. The only way anything gets saved on the server in 2023 is if it's done in 5 minutes or less. I'm screwed bc whatever I do I can't seem to get anywhere closer that 5:15 on the Docked map in Cannonball Races.

Hi

I just won Stars In Your Eyes in race mode. Well in a sense I did. I was playing six laps with trucks and there were so many people just messing around, blocking and crashing into people. In the end I came in second, just missing out on first. However, the guy who did finished first ended up quitting and I was therefore awarded first place instead.

My basic question is therefore: will this count as win or not since I did not actually cross the finish line first? In other words will I have to try and win it a second time properly?

I Won it !

So, i've got some clues...

The best is:

-to be 2 friends
-to play when american are working or sleeping for there is less people playing.
- to rate your friend as "appreciated player" and he does the same, and to have the same settings about cops, damages etc. on the phone... It will be easier to join together a lobby...
- AND THE ULTIMATE THING !!!

which allows you to be only the two of you alone on a lobby 9 times on 10:

If you are 16 on a lobby it is because your internet is working rather well, i mean, the lobby wouldn't be able to undergo to many players with a bad connection. So the ones with bad internet are automatically alone and hosts on a new lobby... Then the race is against less players.

having a very fast connection is good for Halo, GoW, but not fot GTA.

Try to slow as much as you can your connection ( sometimes you may be disconnected ) !
The guy i made it with had Wi-fi... Each time he was alone on a lobby, and i just had to join him....

After, you have to be fast to launch the race before other players join... or for kicking people... Furthermore sometimes you are stuck in a lobby overcrowded, don't worry !
try to find a new lobby when the game is about to start: on the count of 1...

I can just wish you the best, and do not give up !

Ps: i'm sorry if i made mistakes for english isn't my native language and worse i don't master at all the subtile art of computer and that stuff !

I spread this out - took me roughly just over 2 weeks (3 hour sessions each day).
For the races (standard ranked and gat races) I found a boosting partner and took it in turns to do each track twice, select supercars (I prefer the lambo) and blitz through them.
The cannon balls took the longest. My only problem with the match making is the constant disconnections and not being able to host my own lobby consistantly. Set all races to 1 lap and make sure your multi settings are the same your boost buddy (add him as a favoured player on xbox live).
For some reason, GTA thinks I have a bad connection even though i have a 50mb cable connection and i'm connected to my router via a cable. I found out that boosting between 10PM and 1AM (UK GMT Time) helps as there tends to be less people on the week days (mon - thurs).
For the multi-players matches - i.e. deathmatch - start a game (4 people min) with your buddy and a couple of randoms then get your buddy to haul-a** toward you when the match starts so you can kill him quickly - set the limit to $2500. As soon as he respawns, get him to repeat until you've won. Just takes a lot of patience. If you've finished all of the races and multi games and still havn't got the achievement, check your ENTIRE leaderboard ranked history and see if the games recognises that you've got everything - re-do any you think you've done, but the game didin't recognise.
FYI - here's one cannon ball track thats missing from the AWP checklist - pilgrims progress (remember to check this off as well). Now helping a buddy to get the wanted achievement before I go back to PES 2008 :(

Damn! Didn’t pop for me either after using a manual checklist (and triple checking the ingame leaderboards).

I’m still hopefull though after reading the above comments. I switched versions unknowingly it could screw me over. Did the team-MP stuff back in the day on disk. Sold it and got a digital copy of the base game. Completed the DLC-stuff recently on disk and afterwards did all the races playing from the digital copy.

Following Mostropi’s lead I’m gonna redo the team-MP first...hopefully only this old piece of progress got erased and fixes my issue. Fingers crossed!

EDIT/UPDATE:
Just got AWP!

Redid all teambased MP-stuff in a boosting session yesterday to no avail.

Today I went balls to the wall and completed all races in one sitting (while watching Netflix). Took me like 10 hours (even redid the coop levels) and it unlocked just now after finishing up the last Cannonball race. Good riddance!

Piece of advice: do not turn of your xbox since it might wipe your progress or something.

Update: Helped my friend getting this achievement. Tips for getting this Achievement: Make sure you save the game before turning off the game/Xbox. Go to your single player game and save the game using the bed. Don't know if this work but I got think achievement before my friend did and this was the only thing I did differently when trying to unlocking this achievement with my friend. Seem like GTA is not saving your progress when you leave the game.

You don't really need to complete it under 5 mins because my friend unlocked it completing over 5 mins. If you want the money or get in the leaderboard than you have to complete under 5 mins.

The last mission my friend unlocking this achievement was doing the Mafiya Work.
My friend (in his second attempt) also re did this challenges all in one go without turning off his Xbox/game. He wanted to make sure that he had all his progress still when unlocking the achievement. While I didn't do this way and just saved the game in single player. (I unlocked this achievement before the Money/leaderboard starting to mess up).
I also talked to other people that recently unlock this achievement, they didn't do the same method that my friend did with his Xbox.

If you're not unlocking this achievement, most likely you're missing an mission that you did or did not do that save your progress.
I hope this helps for achievement hunters trying to unlock this.
If you're new and wondering if you want to unlock all the achievement for GTA 4. WARNING: DO NOT START THIS GAME but if you are one of a few that are stuck like me trying to unlock this.
This achievement is still unlockable. April 3, 2023.

I got this achievement an hour ago and thought I might write a solution on here.

***Game modes you need to win***:

Deathmatch - Can be boosted with you and a friend, if not, aim for the head, TAP the RT and use cover whenever you can. The important thing to understand here (and this applies to all the other competitive Auto-Aim allow game modes), is that if you lock on to someone before they lock onto you, aka shooting from cover, you should kill them first 100% of the time. If this isn't the case, you're doing something wrong. If you have a turbo controller, there is a much better chance of winning DM's then if you don't since there is a good amount of high ranked (sometimes even low ranked) people who use these controllers and as an owner of one, I can say that it makes the shooting aspect of GTA 4 MUCH easier.

Mafiya Work: Boost it, if not just win it, it's almost a ghost town at this point and the only people that play it are beginners who aren't used to multiplayer and are curious about what it is. Occasional tryhard Rank 10, if he's not on your team, just back out or kick.

Car Jack City: Same thing as Mafiya Work

Team Deathmatch: Boost it from party mode if you can obviously, but if you can't, it won't be too time consuming to get a "legit win". Try to switch to the most high rank stacked team and just play.

Team Mafiya Work: Boost it from party mode, it's just as deserted as Mafiya Work and it requires more players to start the game.

Team Car Jack City: Same as Team Mafiya Work

Cops n Crooks: My favorite game mode and the reason why I stopped using TA for 4 months (I played this game non-stop and stopped going for achievements). This is one that really doesn't require boosting from party mode to win as it isn't overly difficult. You theoretically have a 50% chance of winning everytime, and you'll PROBABLY win if you hop over to the team stacked with high ranked players. They might try to kick you if you don't have a shiny star yet, but in that case just hop on the other team and switch back to their team at the last second before the game starts.

Turf War: Boost it from party mode.

Deal Breaker, BDB2, Hangman's Noose: No boosting available, just work with randoms and finish the mission. If you're going for Fly Da Co-op, you'll need some gamers from TA to help and coordinate with though. Feel free to PM me if you want help on this. If you ask nicely and I have time, I will gladly attempt to get you some quick runs.

***To boost for this achievement (for the Race and GTA Race wins)***:

1-You should get 1 or 2 other buddies with you. Anymore tends to get the boosting pretty disorganized, and you'll probably get less wins.

2-Choose a good boosting time. The times that worked for me the most were 3pm-4pm & 9-11pm eastern on the weekdays and early morning on the weekends ex: 6am eastern.

3-Have a strict NAT. Configure your internet settings so that the level of security is Moderate. This will ensure that you get in smaller sized lobbies or get disconnected. I got my own lobby 80% of the time with a moderate setting. How to do this depends on what kind of router you have, so Google it up if you don't know how.

4-Be prepared. You or your buddy/ies should have the track ready by the time your friend joins. It is also useful if you stay on Kick Player the whole time, so you don't have to scroll down all the way every time you want to kick someone. Doing this might save you a bunch of time, because people tend to join fast so you gotta kick them fast.

5-Piss everyone off. Let's say you got a lobby by yourself and a random joins. Set the laps to 8, the weather to Foggy, time to evening, etc. If you get lucky, they'll decide to leave your lobby, leaving it free again.

6-If you're in a lobby with a lot of people and you know it's a lost cause, set the worst settings possible and tell your friend/s to kick you. Chances are, you won't have to wait for the game to start and you'll get kicked (which is basically a free pass) to another lobby.

7-Take your chances. if you're in a lobby with your friend and 2 other randoms who are readied up (4 people in total) and you got 2 votes on a guy and need one of the randoms to kick the other random, you might as well press A and start the game before more people join. A standstill usually leads to a crowded lobby so if you got some experience, you can probably beat the 2 randoms anyway! It'll also give you practice so you can win more.

I also suggest that you and your friend/s actually race for the wins and then whoever doesn't win gets a free win last. This way, you can also get some practice so when you're in a small lobby with randoms, you can actually have a good chance of winning if they don't quit out on you.

The other solutions here have some useful information too. Happy gaming!

The nat settings are a good idea. I remember setting mine to strict and getting a game with just one other guy for the races. Haven't done this achievement yet but plan on doing it the same way.

This is not a solution, but rather a checklist. I know others have already posted checklists, but this one you can edit AND has formulas.

I modeled this almost exactly after the one posted by ezekiel 08. Credit goes to him.

You will have to sign in to your Google account in order to

"Make a copy..."

and edit as you please.

Used this spreadsheet and it popped bang on the last GTA race! Massive help this thank you :D
Only ran into a handful or randoms here and there, I just waited back in the SP game for 5 mins for them to leave or start their game, then I was able to get a lobby all to myself.
Only started this a week ago so I can confirm this is fully attainable as of Dec 2023. Don't worry about races/matches not registering on the leaderboards when they go over 5 mins AND don't worry about breaking this up over multiple sessions and switching your Xbox on and off, it all saves successfully.

I got this by boosting with a backup account. I setup another tv & 360 next to mine. I would have both start searching the game type i wanted at the same time. I would do this over and over until one got the host. (play late at night, makes it WAY easier) Once one got host i had the other search for it. If someone else joined i had both accounts vote to boot them and then start it up as quickly as possible. Took three days of playing 4 hours a night and I got it.

This is probably one of the harder achievements that you will have to go for, and it's only worth 30G. You have to complete every multiplayer gametype, and every race and GTA race. It is best to boost with at least two other friends, and set your preferences to the same (go to multiplayer in the phone menu, and it is near the bottom).

For Deathmatches and Team Deathmatches, you just need to get an assault rifle, and kill as many people as possible. When you're in a firefight with someone, keep moving, make use of cover and roll occasionally.

Mafiya Work and Team Mafiya Work are when you do missions for Petrovic, and you get varying amounts of money for them. It's always best to go for markers close to you, but far away from other players to give you the best chance of completing it.

Car Jack City and Team Car Jack City are when you have to get a variety of cars for Petrovic. When transporting them, try not to damage the cars too much, as you will get less money. However, if they contain drugs, you will get a bonus, regardless of the damage to the car.

Turf War is where the teams have to gain areas of Liberty City, where you get $50 for every one your team holds, every 30 seconds. You want to kill enemy players if they are attacking your bases, but you do not get any money for it.

For Road Races, I've found that having Trucks, more specifically, the Fire Truck will help massively, as I have found out that when you fire water out of the hose (LB), you appear to go slightly faster than the other players due to a lack of friction (or a glitch). This means you get them done a lot quicker.

For Boat Races, the Jetmax and Tropic are the fastest boats, and have the same stats for everything, but I personally prefer the Jetmax. To win, you want to press LT almost constantly, and hold RB whilst taking corners. You also want to avoid crashes with other racers, and don't miss checkpoints as it takes a long time to get back to one.

In Helicopter Races, the Annihilator is the fastest. You want to keep on roughly the same level as the next checkpoint you're aiming for, not too high, not too low, and press the analogue stick forward to get to top speed. Also, don't crash into any other racers, as this will cause you to spin out of control, and you may lose your rotors. The same applies to hitting buildings.

The Free Races are difficult, but possible. When you start, while it is counting down to the start, set a waypoint on the finish as quickly as possible. If you start in the middle of a road, always check behind you, as cars occasionally spawn there, and you can get a headstart on other racers.

Cannonball Runs are the hardest race mode to complete. They involve getting to four other checkpoints, and are difficult to complete without boosting. Again, check behind for cars spawning, as you can get a headstart. Always set a waypoint on the next checkpoint as you drive through one, so that you don't get lost in the city.

GTA Races are harder, as you are constantly being shot by other players, especially at the beginning, as there is usually a weapon spawn near the starting point. You also want to watch out for people who set up near corners and will just massacre you when you turn. Or people who just decide to drive the wrong way around the track

Cops 'n' Crooks has two modes, and for each one, you have to win as Cops and Crooks for them to count. Neither mode is particularly difficult, but they rely on having decent teammates.
All for One is where the Crooks get a Boss to safety, a boat or helicoptor, while the Cops try to kill them. If you are the Boss, stay with the majority, and if not, then stick on the Boss at all costs. Sacrifice yourself to save him if need be. As the Cops, just head straight for the Boss and concentrate only on killing him.
One for All is where as many of the Crooks have to get away from the Cops, and there is no respawning. I'd suggest bailing and making your own way there, just so the cops are chasing multiple vehicles. As the Cops, bail and get your own vehicle if the Crooks have split up, and go for the guy the other Cops are ignoring.

Deal Breaker is where you have to get to an industrial plant in the south of Alderney, from a house in the north. There is a helicopter spawn in the centre house on Owl Creek Ave, however, it does not always spawn. It is best to get two people to get the helicopter, and land on the top, and work down, and the other two drive and work from the bottom. You will then have to kill remaining gang members, and if there are four of you, there will be a boat. It is best for two to go after that, and the other two to go after the members by road.

Hangman's NOOSE is where you have to protect Petrovic from the NOOSE. It requires three players. You need to get one of the players to get on the Baggage Cart, and get an Annihilator, then fly over to Petrovic. You then pick him up and the other players and fly to Charge Island. You will become intimately familiar with this mission if you are going for Wanted.

Bomb da Base II involves attacking a Securicar, protected by two other vehicles, driving it back to a helipad in the west of Algonquin, flying it to the Platypus in Broker, and planting bombs in the hold and on the bridge. Always try to drop two players on the roof of the bridge, and have the other two assault the hold. You will then have to jump off the ship within 60 seconds.

Once you complete all of these missions, you should have unlocked Auf Wiedersehen Petrovic. Good luck!

This entire solution is devoted solely to boosting the races for this achievement with other people. Boosting in GTA4 is not as intuitive due to the game's finicky matchmaking system. In the 5 or so days I worked on this achievement, I'd like to think I've got a good handle on how to boost races, so I hope my observations can be of help to somebody. Eventually, the information below will be obsolete when nobody is playing this game and two players can find each other easily, but as of the time of this writing, there are still plenty enough random joiners to make finding your partner(s) a headache.

Like others have mentioned before the prime time to boost this game is during the early morning 3AM EST (7AM GMT). The day of the week matters as well with weekends naturally having more players. Before going into any boosting session, you should naturally have a checklist of the races you need. This is so you don't fumble around looking for the next race you need when it's your turn.

Multiplayer preferences seem to matter more in GTA race, than regular race, but it never hurts to have your preferences match your boosting partners. You can try using settings that beginners tend to avoid, like so:

Auto Aim - Disallow
Police - On
Friendly Fire - On

You can change these by pressing up on the d-pad of your controller while in single player mode (to bring up the cellphone), then go to multiplayer -> preferences. You may also want to try preferring people ahead of time as some say it helps you get matched up more easily, but that is up to you. I personally cannot see a difference between when I prefer and when I do not prefer. Keep in mind that some people just don't have compatibility with other people, meaning try as they might they can never find each other in the same lobby. I don't know exactly why this is (it may have something to do with one or both player's nat settings), but there is otherwise really very little you can do short of finding another boosting partner.

It is best to boost regular races with several people in party chat. GTA races can be boosted relatively easily with just two people. Try to be patient at the start of a session as it may take awhile before everybody is familiar with each other's names and voices. When you are trying to take over a lobby, pay attention to who everybody is voting for so that you can concentrate all your votes on one player at a time. Since the developers made the annoying decision to have a player's gamertag flash with the car he has chosen, it sometimes helps to call out the color of the person you are trying to kick instead. You must have a majority of votes before you can kick somebody (so for example, a 6 player lobby requires 4 votes to kick a player).

If you enter a lobby and find it hopelessly cluttered with randoms, sometimes you will not be able to leave even when you do another search. You can try searching another game type and then searching for a race again, but I've had mixed results doing this. Usually the only way you can get a new lobby is to get kicked or wait for the match to start. You can either leave the match right before the countdown hits 0 or pull up your cellphone at the start of the match to search for another ranked multiplayer match. If you are the host of such a lobby, a good idea is to give the randoms a long track with several laps to tie them up for awhile.

Speaking of lobbies, a lobby will enter a getting ready state (where you see the 10 second countdown) when a majority of players have readied up *and* the host has readied. Be aware that if you unready yourself to search for another lobby, you may remove the 10 second countdown and just be thrown back into the same lobby when you search. Don't get so caught up in winning a lobby that you spend ages in it. Setting a race to 8 laps and switching to trucks might piss off one or two players and cause them to leave, but when there are more, chances are it's not going to work. Keep in mind, randoms are people too and not all of them are anti-boosters. Some of them just want to race for fun, so let them race - just not with you :)

Lastly, do observe proper boosting etiquette. If you've won a race, let somebody else win the next. Matches require at least 2 players so don't just leave the match once it starts unless somebody else is already staying and once in awhile do volunteer to stay yourself. That is all, and I wish all of you the best of luck in getting this ridiculously tedious achievement.

This achievement confused me, this DOWNLOADABLE spreadsheet I made simplifies it, unlike other guides you can actually download this excel spreadsheet and modify it, rather than be forced to print it off as some of you wont have a working printer.

Simply change a box colour to green when you have completed the corresponding race, and change the number for races completed or needed. I didn't add any formulas to this, so hopefully you can all be free to use it how you so wish.

Happy racing

Note that as of mid-september 2018 the leaderboard tracking is no longer functioning for this game. However this achievement will still unlock - but you need to be scrupulous in tracking via one of the spread sheets what you have done. I personally had about 50% of everything complete before this issue happened and was left bricking it.. but 3 un-tracked sessions later it has popped exactly when it should have. Result!

PS on cops and robbers, you don't need to play both variants, just "all for one" is enough (make sure you win both rounds though!).

Hey! Just thought I would mention this as I do not think this common knowledge for the current hunters (2021). You can track your progress for AWP through the single player! Just press the start button then go over to stats. You'll see the Leaderboards at the bottom of the stats page. Scroll down to it and it will say [You will need to be signed in to Xbox LIVE to view leaderboards. Press cn_A to continue.] Hit the cn_A button on the Leaderboards.

After doing so you can scroll through the Game Modes (Co-op, races and Rockstar missions) and press the button cn_A on it to view the leaderboards. Pressing cn_X after doing so will send you to your data on the mode. If you see your name and numbers proceeding, you most likely have the win for the specific mode. You will know if you see a joystick with a star and a digit underneath it [MAKE SURE IT IS NOT ZERO/0]. If you do not see any data with the message, [No scores found.] that means you have not even attempted that mode and you need a win in it!

Hopefully that helps with the future generations of GTA 4 Hunters.

Happy Hunting!!

Edit: Some options will track and others will not. Anything above 5 minutes has the possibility to not save. This solution was meant for those who do not know what they need left for AWP as I know many who have restarted the entire list to find out it was one cannonball race. Use the Excel spreadsheet at the top of the solutions, and also keep a different paper log to keep track.

Solo Boost, Strict NAT Method

- This is mainly for the races, as some of the other game types require more than 2 players. Luckily, they are simple enough to win, but you could still possibly use this method with more people. -

What you will need:

~ 2 consoles
~ The ability to open/close ports on your router
~ A PC or device nearby
~ A Static IP on both consoles

How do I open ports on my router?

Go to; http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/

Choose the brand and model of your router. You will be taken to a new list where you can find Grand Theft Auto IV. It's in the "X" section for XB360 Grand Theft Auto IV.

How do I create a Static IP on my Xbox 360?
On the dashboard, go to Settings > System > Network Settings > Your Wi-Fi or Ethernet Connection > Configure Network > IP Settings > Manual. Now choose an IP that no other devices attached to your router are using. For instance, you could use 192.168.0.22 and 192.168.0.32. Subnet Mask will be the same as your router (on your PC, go to Search in the Start menu, type cmd, then in that screen, type ip config /all to find your Subnet Mask and Default Gateway.

On to the guide!

The port that you will be opening (or in this case, blocking) is port 3074. Those of you that have opened ports before to get an Open NAT will notice that this port is used for Xbox LIVE, and blocking it may kick you from LIVE.

However, you only block the port when you are in-game, and not on the dashboard. If your router is anything like mine, you are able to block access to the port in Firewall Rules, and it's just the same as opening it. Follow the guide to open the port, keep it saved on your router, and close it when needed. Also, it should be in "Inbound services" that you block the port. I have the port set up in both "Outbound" and "Inbound" services, but only block it in "Inbound".

Obviously, you will need to do this 4 times. TCP 3074 and UDP 3074 for both Xboxes (2 each).

Once the game has started, and your save has loaded (make sure that you are both in the same "game" (i.e. GTA 4, BoGT, LatD), and then hop over to your PC, and block access to port 3074 for both Xboxes. This will then restrict your NAT for GTA 4.

On 1 Xbox, start searching for a game type (most likely Race or GTA Race). You should be put in to a lobby on your own. Once the lobby has loaded, when the car appears, search on Xbox 2. If you search at the same time, 9 times out of 10, you'll both be put in a lobby alone. Once the race has finished, do the same thing again.

Now, start to boost!

Any issues?

Occasionally, you may get kicked from LIVE. No bother, just open the ports, connect to LIVE and then block them again.

You may also keep getting in to separate lobbies randomly. Generally, I always create the lobby with Xbox 1 and join with Xbox 2. If this issue pops up, I join with Xbox 1 and create with Xbox 2. It's never failed me.

{i]Would this work with a friend on another connection?

I can't see why it shouldn't, as your friend would need only open and block his ports, while you do yours. However, I haven't tried it. Also, you both need to be aware what to do in the event you are kicked from LIVE.

Anything else?

If there is anything I have missed, I'll be sure to add it in. While you are opening this port, it will be a huge benefit to read the guide titled "XB360 LIVE" on portforward.com, if you haven't already done so. This guide will show you how to open all required ports for the Xbox to allow you to have an "Open" NAT. This will make connecting to any games in the future a hell of a lot easier.

Also, this method could be used for many other games, as long as you find which port/s the game uses. If I were to guess, I would say most would use 3074, but they could also use any number of ports that the Xbox uses.
