Genetically Superior

You came first in 20 singleplayer street races.

How to unlock the Genetically Superior achievement in Grand Theft Auto IV - Definitive Guide

You need to win 20 of Brucie's races. Choose him in your phone and choose the Race option.

Usually he'll have a race for you but occasionally he won't - if not just call him back.

Note: There are 3 different races on each of the 3 main islands, if you win all 9 of these to start with you'll get 2% towards your 100% completion achievement.

Nice!

You forgot to add something to make it easy. Get into a crap car then ring up for the race. Before getting to the start line get a supercar and the opponents will be racing in the car you originally called Bruice in hence giving you the faster and better car to race in =)

What does this mean "if you win all 9 of these to start with " (the "to start with" part)?

Also, nice tip Dark Cell!

Onza -- I think he just means that if you win the 9 different races, you get 2% towards the 100%. The remaining 11 races are duplicates.

Finally did this. Found it quite easy actually.

The hardest bit I thought was winning the "No. 1" mission to be able to street race. All the other races were very easy compared to that one.

If you can't get to the first corner with a clear lead then drop back. Some of the other cars will generally overcook the corner and come off the road, taking a few out with them - especially when racing against faster cars.

Get the Sultan RS from the bushes behind the garage of a run-down mansion in Westdyke, Alderney. It's a nice little car, perfect for these races. Best Acceleration in the game, great top speed and great handling. Get it sprayed in between races if you damage it too much.

Great info, and if you are not sure where is the races you still have to do to win the + 2%, just go press START, go to STATS, SCORE, scroll down untill you see "Number of races won, from that spot down it tells you where are the races, how many times you did it, and the best time.
And so if you still cant find it i will tell the locations:
South Broker
Airport Run
Dukes Boulevard
South Algonquin
Star Junction
Road to Bohan
North Alderney
Elevated
South Alderney

Hi, It should be noted that the reason a race wont be available is because you have to complete the 9 unique races before you can then call up at any time to race a track again.

From my experience, GTA cheats disable achievements. I am not certain whether this is true in regards to GTA IV, but I wouldn't bet on it. It shouldn't be too difficult to find an appropriate sports car in Liberty City.

Sept. 24, 2023, Series X back compat, not sure if this happened before, but Brucie will text you after you have finished all 9 unique races to let you know that you have done all of them. It took him about 10 minutes to text. I was able to start and finish another race (in a place I had just done) before he texted me. (You can also track progress in Stats -> Score)

Genetically Superior
Come first in 20 singleplayer street races.

Prerequisites
Gained access to Alderney (third/left island).
Complete Brucie's racing mission called 'No. 1' (this win doesn't count).

Races
Broker/Dukes Bohan (first/right islands):
Airport
Dukes Boulevard
South Broker

Algonquin (second/middle island):
South Algonquin
Star Junction
Bohan

Alderney (third/left island):
South Alderney
Alderney
North Alderney

Solution
If you are attempting this achievement from the start of a new game you will have to play through the story missions until you gain access to Alderney. Along the way you should meet Brucie. Brucie will have some missions for you to complete the last involves racing his car for him. Once you complete the Brucie racing mission, he will tell you to call him anytime you want to race.

Now that you've unlocked the singleplayer street races from Brucie you can call him using your phone. Call Brucie from the first islands and Brucie will direct you to one of the Broker/Dukes Bohan races. Win the race and it will be temporarily locked. Systematically race the available races on the three islands collecting 9 wins and 2% toward Key to the City achievement. Keep track of how long it took you to complete each race.

Once you've raced all nine races the ones that were previously locked will unlock again and you can call Brucie from any island to do the races on that island. Now that you've won every race the other cars will become more aggressive. If you kept track of your finish times for all the races on an island choose to do your remaining races on the island where all three races took you the least amount of time. Call Brucie from that island and save when he tells you there isn't a race right now.

As you race try to gain speed on the straight aways and take your time around hair pin turns. Hair Pin turns is where the computer vehicles will careen out of control so making those turns can usually move you up in the position very easily. To slow down for hair pin turns use the break instead of hand break; a hand break stop will often make the car uncontrolable.

Cars
Use faster cars that handle well and take take a moderate amount of damage:
Banshee
Super GT
Infernus
Comet
Turismo

One strategy is to go after this achievement at the same time as You Got The Message achievement. If the car that Stevie sends you after is a fast one you can use it for the singleplayer races. Make sure you send the car through the Paint and Spray before bringing it back to the garage to get the most amount of money from Stevie.

Tips from the Comments
Dark Cell NZ said:
If you call Brucie from a slower car then the cars that appear at the race will be of similar rank. An advantage can be gained by switching to a faster car on the way to the race.

Also, I found that a way to give yourself even more of an edge is to avoid the yellow start marker. Instead, go to the front of the lineups, pull in front of the first cars and then reverse into one of them. This will automatically start the race and you will already be in 1st place! This is useful because you don't have to worry about the idiot AI knocking you into oncoming traffic or a telephone pole.

Definitely true re the slower car "glitch". There were a number of times I called Brucie either on foot or in one of Roman's cabs and then got a quick car when I got to the event - and the other racers were in junky slow cars that were easily beaten.

Brucie's fondness for you also goes up with each race win, so this could count toward "That's How We Roll!" as well.

It doesn't matter which car you ring up in as the type of the group of cars that spawn for the race are random.

I don't get any new race from Brucie when I call him.
On none of the island and I've tried it on different times.

I tried this without even reading the guide. It tells you that the car you are trying to put in the garage isn't the one Stevie is looking for.

If your approval rating is low with Brucie that may be the reason. I've never run into this so it may be a glitch or an issue with a patch that was added after I played.

I can also confirm that calling Brucie on foot will result in racing slower cars. In fact, of the 20 races I only encountered fast cars (I used an Infernus) twice, but I just reloaded my game.

After you win the first 9 races I found that racing in Alderney was the quickest and most effective method to win the next 11 races. The Pay and Spray stops are also directly along the routes between races, which also cuts down on time. Finally, I preferred racing at night as there is typically far less traffic. The downside is that it can sometimes be difficult to see. Happy racing!

I've read (have not tried it yet), if you make the call when sitting it a crappy car, Brucie will "setup" the race with crappy cars. So if you swap cars after the call, to a better car, you'll have an advantage.

EDIT: I have tried it and it does seem to work, most of the time. I also read about a guy who called while on foot (he was trying to steal an Infernus from the start line), and the cars were always junk... So maybe calling on foot is an even BIGGER advantage.

Yup that's true. I usually called a cab and rang him while sitting in the cab then once I had the meeting I jumped out and got into my sports car. Sooo much easier =D

Thanks for the confirmation... I have yet do a phoned-up race... The one that was part of the story line was much harder than I thought... I decided to save stuff that causes me to die a lot, until I'm done with the game (game is a bit harder than I was expecting).

Spot on 100% true. Phone while in a junky car, on foot or in Roman's cabs and the cars in the race should be pretty average standard. From there just simply swap into a quick car and it should be easy to win.

Bit late for this game to add to the discussion but here goes -- I called from the cab to start the races, then when I arrived, I just stole the cab and used that as my racer. Because I was in a cab my opponents were usually in average cars, and the cab has at least decent pickup and speed so completed well.

The big plus for the cab though is that its handling is superior, so I hit up the races with sharp turns. As I saw my competition fly past the sharp cuts and into buildings and walls I easily steered myself into first place after about a minute. By the end of the race no competitors would ever be in site (only one exception, but I crashed into a fence and had trouble getting back onto the road about 200 feet from the finish line in that case...)

If you can't get any races move to another zone, there are 5 zones to phone Brucie for races, so if he says there's is no races just move to another zone.

Note: if you're having problems wining the races, just shoot the tyres of you're oponents, they will blow up and they will have alot of problems controlling their cars.

If you're struggling to win races, I've found a very useful tip on the GTA Wiki

From http://gta.wikia.com/Brucie's_Races :
At the start of the race, you can call Brucie to forfeit the race. When you do, cancel the phone call as it is ringing. You then would notice all the other competitors have started to drive of leaving you able to proceed with the race whilst the other drivers are gone or in some cases they have to do an extra lap.
Just be careful when you start the race, because sometimes the other drivers will be trying to go back to the previous checkpoints and could head-on crash into you.

The easiest way I've found to do this is to get a good, fast car that can easily get away from the police (whether you use the phone to cheat is your option, apparently it does not effect the achievement) and start the race. Try to get ahead or at least give yourself enough room to maneuver and fire your pistol into the air. Do NOT hit any of the racers, contrary to other advice I've found, and be careful not to hit any vehicle that may be near; I hit a taxi and they called off the race.

You're aiming to get at least a 2 star wanted level. The cops will drive at you, trying to stop you, and will turn in an attempt to catch you after you swerve passed them. Generally, if the competition is behind you, they will wreck into the cops.

You should not have too much difficulty getting by any cars that were ahead of you at the beginning of the race, as quite a few wreck within the first half of lap 1. Also, if the entire competition is sports cars, you may want to cancel the race and start again; obviously, junkers are easier to race against. As far as making the call in a junk car, the line-up appears random to me, but worth a shot if you're having that much trouble.

You should phone Brucie when you are in Alderney because there are more chances of getting more races after you finish one. For example if you do race at south of Alderney and you win it, move to north or middle Alderney and call Brucie about race. He should give you a race of that part of Alderney. So just keep calling him about race at different parts of Alderney, and of course you have to win them 20 times.

You need to Win the 20 races when you call Brucie... There are 3 on each of the Area's / Islands, followed by the "Elevated Races" after you beat the first 9...This is definetly one you can get with enough practice, effort, & timing...

But if you are looking for the quickest way, i found a Combination of the below two glitches to be the Best way to Guarantee the Win... Allowing you to focus on your Driving & Lap Times if you want...

¤Whichever Vehicle you are in when you call Brucie, will in fact effect which Opponents Spawn, so you best bet is to call from a Bad Car (taxi, Van, Truck, Mañana, or Limo has the worse handling imo)

¤First, you will need to Park your "Bad Car" & your "Good car" in a Parking Space to make it easy... From here, you can Call Brucie to setup the Race from your "Bad Car", as soon as the Marker shows on the map...you can switch to your "Good car", and head to the Race... You will now have the Advantage in the Race depending on which you choose...

...or....

¤Secondly, do Not *approach the Arrow to start the Race...instead sit back a few feet, call Brucie to "Cancel Race"... Then immediately Hang Up on first ring.. You will notice the other Racers will drive off, but the Yellow Start Arrow will still be there... Wait about 20-45 seconds, then START the Race.
This method, you will be the Only racer at the starting line...but the other Racers will be heading Back to the Start line, so depending how long you waited, will be your advantage & then Some.

¤ I noticed the Cars that Spawn on the Streets during the Race, will also depend on which you Started the call to Brucie with... So you Definetly want something easy to avoid when you Call up setup the Race.

¤As stated, the other Racer's will be heading back to the Starting Line, and they can actually catch back up to you if you are a Bad Driver, or destroy your car... But some cases they will be Behind 1-lap... So don't shoot them or waste your time destroying their cars... Just race till you are done... Your car will be Pretty beat up anyways, without the aggressive driving...hahahaha!

¤Repeat 3 times, on Each Island... And Brucie will give you the Elevated Races... Just keep moving to different parts of the Island if Brucie doesn't have a Race.... You only need 20 for the Achievement, and i believe you can repeat the same 2-3 after you unlock all the ones for each island this way.

¤ {I found the Sultan Rs had the Best Handling & Acceleration for these Races, you will need to hit allot of races with Sharp-Turns ect, you can tap the Brake or simply decelerating will help your turns... The Sultan Rs is the only car i have seen that really Looks like a Street Racing car anyway.. Like it was made for this....lol}

*Take your car to the Nearest Pay n' Spray after each Race.

*....Or, you can take your Car back to your Parking Spot (if you like the paint job, or it is a Rare Color)... Walk about 2+ blocks till you see it Despawn, then walk back with it Fully Repaired & Shiny from the respawn

Call Brucie "Race". And complete the races. After 9 you will receive a message that you have won everything. But you will have to go through them 11 more times.

Depending on your position on the map, Brucie will give you repeat races so that you don't have to travel too far before the start. This way you can be closer to your loved ones and easily (more quickly here, because they are all easy, but some are long) complete the races that are convenient for you.
He gave me a maximum of 3 races in a row and then I did something else or saved and loaded, then there is a chance to immediately get another race and get the achievement faster... here
