How to unlock the Ain’t Nothing But a G Thing achievement in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas – The Definitive Edition - Definitive Guide

To own all the properties, it will cost you 1,044,000$. Plus another million for the cash requirement. Plus the 53 gang turfs to conquer. This achievement should be done once you return to Los Santos after picking up Sweet at the precint.

Note for players that doesnt know the game
Do not attempt to do it until you return to Los Santos in late game after venturas storyline. You will loose all the territory you own after the first los santos storyline, while not being able to buy all the properties anyway.

Properties to own :

Total to aquire all properties : 1,044,000$

You can easily acquire more money at the casino. For that, raise your gambling skill by spending enough to access the 1 Million $ tables. An easy method for that is to play the roulette and split your max bet in two equal one's over red and black, so that no matter the result, you'll get all your money back and the game will have counted it as money spent to raise the skills. Repeat until you get access to the highest table, then you can easilly save at the 4 dragons, head inside, and bet everything on the roulette/blackjack (knowing that you can borrow the million you'll be allowed to bet too), and reload the save if you loose.

Gang Turfs
There is 53 territories in total spread around LS. To start a war, kill 3 ennemy gang members while on foot. Then you'll be tasked to survive 3 waves. You only need to complete 2 waves tho for the turf to be conquered.

You can't attack a new turf if one of yours in under attack. You can easilly cancel that by saving your game or starting a submission in a taxi, police car or else.
It's quite easy to do by crouching somewhere and using either the M4 or the AK47 to engage ennemies before they're in range. First wave is usually noob ennemies with pistols and melee weapons, feel free to level others guns on them. It will just require some patience to get all of them.
Beware, some of the turfs are extremely small. Best strategies are to hang out in that area as a bait for gang members, shooting at the cars of passing gang members to make them leave and go on foot. You can also try to do it during the riots.

Tips from the comments :
SPΛΙΝΤΞRCΞΛΛ]
While you are attempting to take over the hoods (late game) you should drive a vehicle with a sub mission (police, taxi etc) in order to cancel "your hood is under attack" mission. If you get this notification activate your vehicle's sub mission and it will "save" your hood that is being attacked.

You should get all East Los Santos fast because attacks are common there. Attacks occur in hoods near enemy hoods so if you take all East Los Santos including Vagos hoods the western Ballas will not attack and vice versa. Vagos will attack hoods they had no claim in East Los Santos though.

Punch some guys of a near zone and run to the zone. Kill them there. Make sure they step onto the zone you want. White zones do not count obviously.
Block the road with a vehicle and kill gangsters in their car if they will spawn.
Kill some random ppl and gangsters will spawn to check the disturbance.
thegabjzor]On a side note, the cheevo popped for me even before taking over all hostile territories. I purchased all properties, and taken over most of the turfs (I had only 5 Vagos hood to clear), but in Statistics>>Gangs I saw 70 territories "taken over". Mind, not "held" or "under control", as there are fewer.
DEol]I did it with the tank on the end. Few tank bullets and done, out of the tank, shoot 3 gang people, back in the tank, boom boom, next wave, took me around 1 hour to complete all the gang turfs, now i still need to find a way to that million again
supkris]Just go to four dragons casino, make a save and play at 10000$ booth. Bet max up to 50000$. Even for a pair of jacks or better you get paid 5 times more. If you hit flush or straight or even three of kind you will be making lots of money and be a millionaire in minutes.

It's easy to make a lot of money without using cheats and affecting your 100% run. It can be done early or after beating the game. Just save the game, go to the casinoes in Las Venturas and play the roulette, betting all of your money in one color. If you win, save the game again and repeat, if you lose, reload your save. It can also be done in the Inside Tracks by betting on horse races, using the same method. Winning twice after betting on the horse with the worst odds will multiply your money by 100x.

Also, once you start the gang wars the first time, drug dealers are everywhere and they drop $2k every time. Easy way to rack up cash and gain weapon skill. I like to use the sawn-off shotgun on them.

Nice guide!

No they are not. In fact you SHOULD NOT do the gang war until you return to LS after Las Venturas storyline because you will loose all of it and won't be able to buy all the properties anyway. (There is just the Doberman mission where you conquer a turf as a part of the storyline, but then any turf conquered will be lost after The Green Saber a couple missions later)

By Psi Commando on 15 Nov 2021 23:27
Doberman starts the first turf war. You don't have to take over territories after that, but it does start the gang wars. That is required for story progression. That's all I'm saying. I just didn't explain it very well.

The gang territories are an inconsistent joke. Shit to put this as an achievement. There’s either no gang members around to start it and the cops just decide it’s their turn or there’s 25 random extra gang members that murder you before wave 1 has even fully spawned.

FYI I had previously gained $1mil when exporting the car lists, but spent a lot of it buying up the properties. When I took over all the gang turfs and bought all properties, the achievement did not unlock as I was under $1mil. When I collected all the oysters, that put me back on $1mil and then the achievement unlocked.

Not at all, in fact turf wars plays a major role in the game conclusion. They become available again after the mission "Home Coming" (2nd one after going back to los santos). And they won't dissapear again. So you can pretty much do it even after beating the storyline.

I don't know where you got 57 territories from. It was 53 for me. Unless there's like 4 you take in a story mission or something that don't appear in the stats? At 53 total held territories the achievement popped (actually on the second wave of the very last territory).

Save scumming at the four dragons tbh. Played for around de 20mn at the $100 table and i got access to the 1 million game. Then save game, go at the roulette, place a million (with max skill you can go negative 1 million to place the bet) on red or black, either get milionnaire or reload save a'd try again

No. You only need 2 waves for each territory. Run away and the territory is considered "done". That was known since the PS2 version.

Adding to what thegabjzor posted, there is 2 very small Vatos turfs as well, first 2 blocks north of the race, I tried doing those when I only need 3 more turfs, spend over 2 hours looking for gangsters... Had to load a previous save

Too bad they couldn't have addressed these enemy territory issues in the patch, as the enemies will only spawn behind you, even if the area behind you is outside the territory and oftentimes they will get stuck, or run away. I actually wrote up a bug report on all the OG PS2 issues before GTA4 even came out. There were quite a few, and a lot of them haven't been fixed yet.

This popped for me with I would say at least 6 hoods left to capture (can't be exact as didn't check before capturing the rest). I capped a few at the start of the game, which were reset by story progression so not sure if these were counted as duplicates.

I just completed the final gang war. Stats show "Territories held" is 57. The achievement popped earlier than that, but yes, there are 57 territories.

https://ibb.co/93JrgLy

Also - not sure why the guide says you only have to survive 2 of the 3 waves, that's just flat out wrong. You don't get the message that you control the territory until the end of wave 3.

By I ASK NO ONE on 30 Dec 2021 18:08
What do you mean by the Valet ?

You need to buy all the properties on the map (Green house icon), it is unrelated to the "asset aquired" messages you get when finishing mission and with a passive revenue generating.

You do need to buy wang cars and zero RC shop (Z icon) tho, despite there isnt a savepoint there it counts as properties.

I haven't done the valet cars thing in San Fierro. I think that's an asset after they are completed. I also haven't finished all the story missions. I played it to 100% years ago. The gang turns may populate again. Maybe that has something to do with it. I'll keep going and see what happens.

Get fireproof from doing Firefighter level 12 and use molotovs to your advantage for the gang wars. It cleans them up quick. They run away when you throw them and you can shoot the survivors. Makes it fairly simple and quick. You can get an endless supply from Johnson house.

You don’t have to worry about getting enough money for this achievement, as it comes naturally through progress towards 100% the game. By the time I hit 75% completion rate, I already had purchased all assets, while having 1.5 million. I didn’t even try gambling at all but also didn’t spend any on unnecessary things. Exporting all cars gives you around 1 million

I just got this achievement with 53 turfs, but I see at least 3 turfs I have not taken. I know that one of the turfs glitched out and turned white, and I recaptured it. That counted twice in my count. I got the achievement while I was on wave 3 of my 53rd turf, which interestingly enough was the tiny sliver one right below Madd Dog's Crib.

The fastest way to make money I found was saving the game then going to the closest betting shop with horse betting. Pick the horse with the worst odds and place all your money on it. The odds are 11/2 normally. If you win go back to your safe house and save and rinse and repeat till your happy. If you lose just reload your save and try again. I got 6 million in 15 minutes.

If the territories are pissing you off like they were me, do as DEoli said with a tank! Go to Verdant Meadows and grab the jetpack and fly east to go over the west fence of the military base. They'll be a tank in the first hanger and drive it back to the airstrip and park it in the hanger. Save and the wanted level will be gone.

Then just drive it to Los Santos and park it in a garage (not sure if it fits in all, but it does in the beach property).

So so much easier, you can take over a hood in less than a minute.

Yes you don't have to complete the Valet mission / hippy shopper / stuff like that for that achievement,

This one is just about buying properties

By Psi Commando on 31 Dec 2021 16:49
I found the turfs much easier after I grabbed my tank from my hanger at the airstrip! As somebody else has stated, park the tank up, jump out, shoot 3 gang members dead on foot, get back in the tank and either fire at them or run them over! Becareful not to let the gang members get close enough to pull you out the tank. I also found running up and down the street, especially for the smaller turfs, spawned gang members behind you and I also shot them out their cars to start a war 👍
Money and property were easy, I finished the game with 2.1 mil so properties were no bother and went round in one go to buy them all. Got money by killing drug dealers, doing any side missions like paramedic, firefighter, courier, as most you get money on each level, from gambling and from general missons.. good luck people :)

There are 2 tricky gang territories - very small areas - that you may have issues with spawning enemy gang members if you have taken over the adjacent territories.

Both are Ballas territories.

First one is a tiny territory near the hotel you visit during the Reuniting The Families main mission. In fact, this square-like turf is the front yard of the hotel. There is also Vagos hood nearby, but you can claim the turf from Ballas only.

The other one is a tiny strip of a territory near the road up the Vinewood hills.

I've highlighted these 2 turfs here:
https://i.imgur.com/foLZ7uM.png

In both cases don't conquer other territories just yet. While standing firm on the turf you wish to take over, attack Ballas gang members (they may be on different turfs, so don't chase after them), hoping they'll barge onto the territory to attack you and kill them then, so you start the war on the turf you stand on.

If you get adjacent bigger turfs first, you may really have it hard for Ballas to spawn.

The remaining are fairly straightforward, and running around may get the enemies to spawn.

On a side note, the cheevo popped for me even before taking over all hostile territories. I purchased all properties, and taken over most of the turfs (I had only 5 Vagos hood to clear), but in Statistics>>Gangs I saw 70 territories "taken over". Mind, not "held" or "under control", as there are fewer.
I simply took over a number of LS turfs during the early Los Santos stage, just after the Doberman mission, and then again in late game stage, so it's quite possible the cheevo pops if it recognizes you have taken over 70 territories in total over the course of both early & late stages of the game. And of course have purchased all assets and enough moolah.

One more thing for gang warfare:

This was shown in the tutorial but wasn't explicit, if there is no Ballas or Vagos around just kill drug dealers and they'll come

Makes those small areas a lot easier

Regarding gang turf takeovers.

Don't go to take over any turf (apart from Glen Park as the story depends on it) until end game as the turfs will all be lost to Ballas and Vagos as the story progresses through San Fierro and Las Ventura's.

There are a few really small gang zones which are an absolute nightmare to get complete if you have taken the surrounding turf. (Check a gang turf map reference)

Here's the trick to avoid a massive headache - Leave the surrounding large turf, and concentrate on the really small ones first. If gang members don't show up, which is highly usual, you can bait gang members from surrounding turf by running up and punching them, then running into the "tiny annoying gang turf" - make sure you get rid of 3 / 4 of the gang members in said tiny annoying turf spot and voila a take over will commence.

- for "runaway enemy gang members" you can use a sniper whilst standing in the flashing zone.

- Don't recruit Grove St clowns - "recruited Grove St members" aren't worth the time as they are absolutely useless, can't even be good bullet sponges and annoyingly, your auto aim will continuosly lock onto them instead of nearby enemies firing at you, and to add insult, the Grove St idiots you lock onto, while being shot at - don't even fire at the enemies.

*Taking over all turf in one go takes about an hour and 40 minutes / 2 hours or so on foot, and about 40 minutes using a Rhino (tank) *depending on spawn frequency.

**Some patience and frequent swearing required.

Instead of using the Rhino tank, I like to use the
*** Spoiler - click to reveal ***

It's more agile than the Rhino, you can get out and shoot gang members to provoke the gang war and then just zip around and run them all over. Whether it's quicker than the Rhino, i'm not sure, but I find the Rhino controls like a brick and is very hard to aim the guns in this version of the game.

How I’ve done this over the past 17 years is to get 100% before attempting going for all the territories. It’s especially true here since I believe the taking of territories is harder in this version due to the enemies being more accurate. 100% nets you infinite ammo and a Rhino will spawn under the overpass in Grove street.

Once you complete 100% you have 2 options

1. Use the Rhino. You’ll have to get out to shoot the gang members but once the war has started, hop in and either shoot the waves of enemies with the cannon, or run them over. In the tank you’re basically invincible.

2. Use a minigun. After achieving 100% you get infinite ammo. The minigun sprays bullets very fast and doesn’t have to reload. If you don’t have one left over from the missions there are a few scattered across the map. I’ve linked a guide below. You can stand at a good distace and spray the entire group in a couple seconds.

Gang Turfs
There is 53 territories in total spread around LS. To start a war, kill 3 ennemy gang members while on foot. Then you'll be tasked to survive 3 waves. When you cant see no gang member in area, mostly in the smallest territories, just wait for car with gang driver and kill him, there will spawn another.

It's quite easy to do by using either the M4 or the AK47 and be little furt her away from them, so they will be running to you instead shooting.

If you need lots od money, just use bets in casino or horse race.
