How to unlock the A New Perspective achievement in Grand Theft Auto V - Definitive Guide
You can view your current progress with this achievement by visiting the "Stats" screen in the Pause menu, then going to "General".
Progress towards this trophy counts in either First Person on-foot or in-vehicle and is cumulative between Story Mode & GTA Online.
Tips
• Track your progress in the pause menu. Stats > General/Career > Time played in first person.
• By default, if you enable FPS you'll be forced to use it for both in-vehicle and on-foot. To enable seperate cameras in each mode, in the pause menu go into Settings > Display and enable Allow Independent Camera Modes.
If you despise First-Person view you can always just leave the game idle for 15 hours. Just be sure to turn OFF all of the PlayStation 4's auto-off features such as "System" and "Controller Auto-Off" in the system settings to ensure your sytem remains powered.
Thanks to Supremacy for writing and providing the guide for this specific trophy.
As a brand new feature brought to GTA V and GTA Online for Xbox One, players now hold the ability to play as their character(s) in the first person perspective mode. In order to switch between the standard third person view and the new first person perspective, you will need to tap the "view" button on the Xbox One controller one or two times.
This will toggle between the various different camera angeles in third person before entering the new first person perspective mode. As a note, this works whether you are on foot or sitting inside a vehicle (car, plane, helicopter, etc.) Since this achievement requires so much time spent in the new mode, many players may not necessarily want to work towards this legitimately during their time on the game.
Fortunately, as confirmed by Just Blaze, you can grind this achievement out by sitting in a car or standing anywhere in the world - in your house, for example - in first person mode. Any time spent in this mode during your playthrough will add to the in-game clock that can be found by following these steps: PAUSE > STATS > GENERAL > TIME PLAYED IN FIRST PERSON.
Regardless of which way you decide to approach this task, the achievement will finally unlock once a minimum of fifteen hours have been registered in the new first person perspective mode.
But it is hours , not minutes, that are added up .
The story ran for 2 hours and 21 minutes. The trophy dropped without delay when the online time reached 13 hours 01 seconds.
