For this achievement, all you have to do is spend 15 hours in FPS mode. To play in first person mode by pressing

a few times. You can try play through the campaign and multiplayer to get your 15 hours.

Or...

This achievement is easly attainable by finding a nice quite alley for your character, plug your controller in by USB and go do something else (overnight or during a shift at work). After your game hits the time mark you unlock the achievements. If you're unsure you have unlocked it, check your notifications.

Just a heads up. Rockstar Social Club (not sure how often it refreshes) was showing me as 4m after a while-I-slept idling for the achievement. However the game says I'm at 10h, so to get a more accurate number I'd check the in-game stats.

Does not work for me on the xbox one. after 15minutes my controller gets disconnected (even when plugged in via usb. This is an annoying achievement. I have every achievement except this one and i really could not stand playing this game in first person.

Came here to say the same thing as Kebab Massacre in regards to the controller turning off. Even taping a stick forward or to the side isn't enough to keep it from turning off.

Yeah, this guide is incorrect I'm afraid. Even a plugged in, rubber banded controller will go to sleep after 15 minutes. You can leave it running while doing other things, but you're gonna have to jog it every 15 minutes to keep the clock ticking so there's little point in setting it up to run overnight or while you're out of the house.

Solution was great but needs to be updated since Xbox added the "away" screen details when the system idles too long and stops the timer bc it pauses the game.

UPDATE: Solution is still valid & works Xbox fixed the controller issue. I just tried I have xbox one x & controller battery charge pack it comes with a long usb cord which I used with this guide I only got 7hrs in though but still works.

Agreed. I had a controller plugged in and left it idle over night. Only got ten minutes of time logged. An Xbox message was idle on the screen showing achievement details. Trying again rubberbanding it.

A usb on a wireless controller WILL NOT stay connected. However, if you have a wired controller and change your idle setting to "never shut off" it will stay on.

Ok I did this by putting a rubber band on the controller so Franklin was walking around in a circle in First Person mode in his house. Left the Xbox on overnight and it popped 15 hrs later..!!

By taking the batteries out and plugging in the controller it should stay on. With batteries in it will shut off every 15 min.

Well I did it overnight with a rubber band around the joysticks in mostly one sitting, wired to the console with my controller on story mode. By the time I woke up the achievement had already unlocked. I had already done a few missions in first person prior. Try that.

When my controller turned off, the game kept playing and the timer never stopped. The mileage seems to vary, but I never needed to plug it in. Accidentally got 30 hours lol.

Didn't work for me as I was streaming my Xbox through the Xbox Console Companion app on my PC. It didn't work if I put the idling on and turn the streaming off. But it did work when I kept my streaming active.. Strange stuff.

It was definitely odd for me as this achievement unlocked while i was in a loading screen for gta online as i apparently left my character in first person last i went on it which kind of is understandable given i did have around under 10 hours in a new first-person story so I can only think the game just combined the online timer as I was loading in to make the game just unlock it for me.

I just started the career where Trevor is threatening the hostages and immediately went into first person, so I plugged a USB cable into the controller and console - let it idle for 15 hours and got the achievement that way.

Probably worth adding a note that if you leave it idling with a controller plugged in, once you pass the 15 hours you'll need to quit and reboot the game for the achievement to unlock.

^^ It's cumulative, no need to do it in one sitting. However, I had 4+ hours in MP and I still had to get to 15 hours in single player, so I guess it is only SP or it's all 15 hours in the same mode at best.

If something goes wrong and it exits on you, you lose progress. I just learned that the hard way. Not happy, since I went from 10+ hours back down to under 3.

To avoid this issue, you can press

and select Quick Save.

Unlocked this today, I had to accumulate 15 hours on single player, my 3 and a half hours online didn’t count for some reason. If I were to stand still then I would need to move my controller every 10 mins, however I found riding one of the trains I didn’t need to move the controller and the timer would keep clocking up. Hope this helps!

If you have always on power mode you can earn this over night if you don't quit the game and leave your player in first person

I can confirm this.
This is how I did it:
- Start a multiplayer session and go in First Person mode.
- Power down the Xbox One (Xbox must be in Instant On mode).
- Leave it overnight >15 hours.
- Poweron the Xbox One and Start GTA.
- You get a error message that you disconnected from the online session and then the Achievement unlocked.

Yeah I was freaking out that it randomly gave it to me but then realized it's in power mode or whatever glad this happened to someone else. So I too can confirm that this works. And yes I was in a multiplayer match when I powered off my xbox. Also for anybody wondering... You can power off using the controller if your settings are show. As above

if you leave it over night i tried that method of sticking in a USB charger left it on over night in single player and found out the next day it had only tracked 4 hrs even though i left it on for 15+ hours what gives ??

You cant do the method with the usb in the mp.because when you are not active the server will kick you out and say you are inactive!have to try it with the shut down method.

Worked for me too! Did it over 2 nights in an online lobby, achievement popped right as I brought up GTA V from suspend/resume. Definitely beats having to let the console run for 15 hours.

For Example I'm in an online invite only lobby in 1st person and then power the console off and come back after 8 hours then resume GTA V will the game show that I was in 1st person for 8 hours or how does that work? Please let me know thanks

Yeah I believe this doesn't work anymore I've done this for 2 days in a row left my console for like 12 hours plus each time I come back on sign in and then click gta it starts the game up fresh like it was never played might have to do the use the play and charge kit to do it now

I dont think this method works anymore. I tried DarkRule's method as well twice and let it sit overnight both for longer than 15 hours and it does not seem to register the time.

This worked for me. The achievement popped yesterday after leaving the game in suspended mode per xxxDarkRuleRxxx's instructions. When I started online mode, I started an Invite Only lobby and just stayed in my apartment.

I got this by rubberbanding my analog sticks, otherwise the game sort of times out by bringing up the achievement preview pop ups pausing the clock.

I tryed the method from xxxDarkRuleRxxx and when i start my console at the next day it shut down the game complete. When i launched the game and checked my stats it says 1h14m38s. So now i try it with a rubberband on my right stick Walking circles in my Apartment to avoid kicked out of session. But i dont know why it resets the timer. i tryed it already in singleplayer with a usb cable and racked up a time from 10h45m but the i switched of my console complete not in instand power on mode and it resets my time again to 1h.

This achievement can be earned through GTA Online & GTA Single Player.

This achievement is fairly simple and you can start working on it the moment you get control of Michael during the first few minutes of the game. To get I to first person mode you'll want to press

Untill it puts you into it. Now by working towards 100% completion and level 100 (if you didn't import your old character) this should come naturally if you stay in First person most of the game.

Note: during car chase missions I reccomend using 3rd person view as the cars are extremely touchy when in 1st.

Not a solution, but just for reference, this unlocked for me when the stat counter said 10 hours. Achievement title may have been a typo. Or I may have been lucky

That's probably because it's time spent on first person between story mode and GTA Online.

Plug your xbox controller into your console and take the battery out your controller, this will make your controller not turn off automatically.

Heres how you check how much time you've spent in first person:
Pause the game
Go over to stats
Go down to general

get on water preferably the ocean or a deep river, then get on first person. doing this you don't need to rubber band your controller. just don't go underwater just let your character float in the water and wait 15 hours or the remaning hours you need for this achievement
