After you give the Merchant the Mysterious Food Sauce(recepie provided by Clotho) that you can craft at the Church Workbench, the achievement will pop.
BEWARE THOUGH:
If the Merchant is still under his curse, he will not be able to taste anything and therefore the option to give him the sauce does not appear! I thought the game was bugged and was seconds away from starting the game all over again in rage before I remembered what the curse actually did.
So make sure the Merchants curse is lifted before trying to give him the sauce.

For anyone wondering at the above, note that the curse referred to and its cure is an early game story-related quest. This Achievement is also DLC story-related and unmissable.
