How to unlock the His mansion achievement in Graveyard Keeper - Definitive Guide
This is essentially a story based achievement in the Episcop path. It works the same as His House in that you must complete the set tasks to complete it. The tasks are:
1. Fix the graveyard.
2. Bowls for the soup kitchen.
3. Improve the Church and graveyard further. Allows you to unlock His House
4. Bring fish fillets.
5. Bring a building permit.
6. Improve the Church and graveyard further.
7. Supply marble statue. (available once your graveyard has a rating over 100)
Upgrading to the Cathedral is free and unlike the first upgrade you can continue delivering sermons immediately.
I had to complete both the Church (50 rating) and graveyard (200 rating) quests before I had the option to upgrade to a Cathedral. I believe you need a relationship status of 70 with the Episcop so you may potentially be able to upgrade earlier if you have progressed in other NPC’s storylines.
You can get much more detail on this and all other aspects of the game at the wiki here.

recommended setup for church level 50?
edit: I ended up just building a bunch of candelabra II. Didn't even need to put candles in them. Only need steel parts and complex steel parts. I also had all of the benches upgraded with the silk you can buy from the merchant.

Yeah, that sounds right. I didn't bother with candles because they're expensive to buy and I hadn't developed my crafting much so I couldn't make them. There's plenty of options if you use the higher tier items. Soft church benches (18) and the max. amount of wall candelabra II (8) gets you half way there alone.

You will gain the ability to upgrade the church by progressing through the tasks given to you by the Bishop. The first upgrade will be during 3rd and 4th tasks he gives you, while the second upgrade will be offered during the 6th task. The first upgrade will require you to get your graveyard to 30 and your church to 20. Then buy a building permission for 20 silver.
For the second upgrade, you’ll need to get your graveyard to a rank of 200 and the church to 50. Then you need to give the Bishop 3 golden quality carved pieces of marble.
