How to unlock the Back to the roots achievement in GreedFall - Definitive Guide

To achieve this ending you have to elect Derdre as the new High Queen. When faced with joining or killing Constantin after killing the final boss make sure you choose to kill him. Achievement should unlock during the final cutscene.

Is this decision only possible during the New High King quest? (i.e. when you enter the cave to get the crown and Derdre is there)

NM: I see there is a later opportunity to determine who to give the crown to.

This is 1 of the 5 endings and to unlock this, as with all others, you will need to make certain choices throughout the game.

For this ending you need to choose Derdre as the new High King during the quest 'A New High King'. Then at the end of the game, when given the choice by Constantin, DO NOT side with him. No other setup seems to be requried for this ending.

The achievement will unlock during the credits.

Election mission - we give preference to Derdre and kill Konstantin.

It turned out that Derdre attacked me in a cave with a crown, I defeated her. And even when choosing, she was not a candidate!
