Live Freaky, Die Freaky

Complete any Challenge with both of the following: 100% a Guitar solo; 100% a Harmony part.

How to unlock the Live Freaky, Die Freaky achievement in Green Day: Rock Band - Definitive Guide

Read the description carefully: there are THREE parts to this achievement.
1) Complete the challenge (you have to get the required number of stars)
2) Get 100% on any guitar solo in the challenge
3) Get 100% on any harmony vocal part
...and all three have to be done in the same run of the particular challenge.

The vocal part DOES have to be a *harmony* part--getting 100% on a song that has just the single track won't do it. This actually means that on certain challenges you CAN'T get this achievement because none of the songs have harmony parts and/or none of them have guitar solos.

However, you DON'T have to hit any of the harmony x2/x3 bonuses. As long as you get 100% on the vocals (which technically means getting "Awesome" on every phrase), you'll pop the achievement. You can do it with just one microphone.

A good Challenge to use is the first one from the second venue called "City of the Dead". It starts out with "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" which is both a harmony part and contains 2 guitar solos--so you get a second shot if you muff the first one.

You DON'T have to do both parts of the achievement on the same song, but BoBD is a good candidate since it does have both: you'll know for certain at the end of the song whether you've done it or not. (The actual achievement will pop at the completion of the challenge. All signed-in band members will get it, too, including drummer and bass player, if they're playing the challenge.)

And since it is the first song in the challenge, you don't have to replay 2 or 3 other songs again to take another shot at it.

btw, the achievement doesn't unlock until the end of the 3 songs on the challenge. This method works great just concentrate on the solo and the lead/blue singing track.

Thanks for the tips. I assume you only need one mic hooked up as long as you choose "Harmonies". Had this one slip away because my GHIII controller decided to start dropping the green note. But hopefully I can do it with a second try.

Was doing this on easy so I wouldnt fail out when I did the solo and vocals parts, as I had nothing to prop the mic on , did both parts fine but I still didnt get it. The reason .............. you need to get the required number of stars for the challenge!!!!!!!!

Does it have to be in the same song in the challenge? Or can you get the 100% harmony part in 1 song and the 100% guitar solo in another song?

@ Unfcnbleevibl I used the 1st challenge in the theater venue has last night on earth in it, thats the song i got the harmony part in and 100% solo in restless hear syndrome. So no doesn't have to bee in the same song.

BIG Thanks to everyone who's commented here. I think I've added everyone's contributions to the total solution.

when i got 100% on the vocal track of Boulevard of Broken Dreams and my partner got 100% on both solos, the achievement didn't pop after the challenge. But, when we did the challenge with me hitting 100% of Last Night on Earth with both parts, we got the achievement. So, either we did something wrong or it doesn't work without the double and triple harmonies being hit.

Well, I'm not sure what to tell you--I did it on BoBD doing voxtar with only one microphone connected, and didn't (couldn't) hit any x2/x3 bonuses.

I originally wrote to just "follow the main (blue) track", which is right for most songs and what I did when I got the achievement. But based on some of the other solutions and comments here, I realize that that advice is misleading because it doesn't apply to all songs. Hopefully this last edit clears things up.

I just met all three criteria and no achievement. I played the challenge in the first venue with Having A Blast, Coming Clean, and Basket Case. I got 100% on easy vocals on the first and third song and I got 100% on the guitar solo in Coming Clean. I finished with 14/15 stars, and the challenge requires 13 stars. Any ideas?

Hmm. That's a head-scratcher. I know that at least Basket Case is a Harmonies song, so it should have popped.
The only things I can think of (besides just a glitch, which happens) is that you accidentally chose standard vocals rather than harmonies, or maybe had no-fail turned on. Also, I'm assuming you did a voxtar run and not that you did vocals and guitar in two separate sessions.

I don't think you can turn on no fail in challenges? If you can, I definitely didn't. It was a voxtar run. All I can think of is that I missed the vocal phrase during the guitar solo in Coming Clean- maybe that screwed it up? I still got 100% on the guitar solo and 100% on both other vocal songs and I definitely chose harmonies. I'm going to try again on Medium/Medium and if I can't get it, I'll do the BoBD challenge instead.

Re-reading the achievement, it seems like "Harmony Part" means getting 100% a part with multiple vocal tracks, not to get 100% on an entire Harmony song.

Actually, you may be on to something there--its quite possible and easy to get 100% overall, but not get 100% on any of the three color tracks, by singing different parts at different points in the song. Ironically, if that's true, my original description "follow the main (blue) track" is more technically correct that what's there now.

If anyone can verify this, I'll edit the solution above accordingly.

Of note: No fail is ALWAYS enabled on Easy difficulty.

Also note that you get the achievement if you are the drummer or bass player in a band that accomplishes the 3 criteria for this achievement. Although this may be implied, I couldn't find anywhere in this solution where it was stated explicitly. I got it today as the drummer as did the bass player in our band.

Had to finish complete 3 song challenge for achievement to pop. Additionally, vocals can only follow the blue path without worrying about the orange harmony lines and the achieve WILL still pop. You might want to clarify this in your solution, as it took me a while to read through and sort through all of the comments for this.

I earned this achievement today while playing bass in a 3 person band so this can be earned without even playing one of the required instruments if you have people to play with. We got it on the second try however because the singer for didn't earn any of 100% in any of the harmonies, however he did 100% the first two songs and got a 99% on the third. When we did it the second time the singer got 100% on all the harmonies on the first song when he was singing into 2 mics.

I just got this today, with 1 mic and 1 guitar, both on easy (and I chose harmonies of course). I used the city of the dead challenge as suggested. I got 100% on all solos, 100% on blue part of the first song, and 14 stars total. I never sang anything else than the blue line. I got the achievement at the last song end stat screen. So yeah, basically everything wrote on this solution is true and that's why I gave positive :)

Like last year I did this with only me on vocals and guitar, I did was required twice and both times the game would freeze after the final track before the score screen appears.
And I bought the game online brand new last year, so not sure why the game froze.
I hate to try again and have it freeze:/
Correction: 3 times now:/
Correction: 4 times now:(( I tried a different set and the game froze after the last track. I guess I’m unable to get the fucking achievement

this method works. if you got a mic stand you can do both parts on whatever difficulty you want.

Excellent help. got this ON MY OWN just now, 1st try.
I am a terrible singer by the way !

i was singing on easy, and playing gtr on medium

(and i dont have a mic stand so i just wrapped it round my drum kit tight so i could kneel and sing into it)

i mainly concentrated on looking at the blue line of singing and matching it, i just winged the gtr as it s easy

stuff on medium. got a 5,4,and 5 star for the songs. cheevo popped at final results screen.

I had to try the challenge twice. The first time I only sang the blue parts. I got 100% for vocals on the first song and I got 100% on both solos. I five starred the first two songs, and as soon as I got the third star on the third song (for a total of 13) I quit playing, which made my rock meter go all the way down. No achievement.

The second time around, I made sure to get an 'Awesome x2' on the first song. I also got 100% on one of the solos. I played all songs for five stars and never let my rock meter go all the way down. One of these factors caused me to get the achievement the second time around. I would guess that it's the fact that you have to get the Awesome x2, but I have to mention the rock meter thing. Hope this helps smile

Once you play enough songs in The Warehouse, unlock the challenge 'Like a throbbing tooth'. To unlock challenges, play the first set of songs in the warehouse, then go to the bottom where it says 'unlock challenges'. If you have enough stars, it will be available to unlock.

Once I had that unlocked, I backed out and connected guitar and mics. I played the challenge voxtar style with guitar on medium and 2 mics on stands in front of me on easy. First try I got harmonies on FOD and hit the guitar solos on the other two songs. FOD didn't have a guitar solo. You should only have to hit one of solos. The achievement pops after the whole set is done.

Before doing the above, I had hit the harmonies on the challenge solo, then did the challenge with guitar hitting the solos. This demonstrated that you have to do it voxtar or with a second player singing if you can't play and sing at the same time.

Your progress does not start over when you change instruments or add a second controller for the mics.

Just to clarify, this popped for me with my profile logged into my guitar, and a guest logged into vocals. The logged-in profile will get the achievement, even though that profile is only technically doing one of the two instruments.

The "Like a Throbbing Tooth" challenge is a good one for this, because it features several easy harmony lines that can be done with only one singer, plus a pair of pretty easy guitar solos.

I was just about to put this exact solution up. After reading the other solution, I was like WTF? I knew FOD had unison harmony in it so I just looked for the challenge with that song in it.

This solution is by far going to be your best bet.

I did it by playing No Place Like Home challenge, both parts (voice and guitar) on easy.

The second song (Restless heart syndrome) has a solo and the third (Last Night on Earth) has very easy harmonies.

Basically I was singing and playing the guitar at the same time, and got the 15 stars with relative ease. Anyone who knows the tune of all 3 songs can do it in a spell, as it is only required to hum in tune and time, so attention can be paid to the guitar part and get the 100% solo, and a decent amount of starts on the songs 1 and 2.

Now, for song three, I do recommend to practice singing the two harmonies beforehand. There is a second voice only for 2 phrases, and there is very little overlapping, but to get the 100% on those two phrases some practice and good breath management is required.

We had some problems with the achievement, looking at the above guide so here is what we did.

HE only had one mic, so we did the challenge "no place like home". We learned we actually have to hit all the blue all the orange and all the brown in one song. I nailed the solo in restless heart syndrome, and he did the vocals on LAst night on earth. If you remeber the orange and blue have nearle no overlap in that song so it was pretty easy for him.
ALSO BE CAREFUL: Restless heart syndrome's solo is extremly hard to get 100% on on expert or hard. try lowering the difficulty

Notes
-harmony and solo doesnt have to be on the same song
-You must hit all of each color, not just get one hundred on one color
-You MUST PASS THE CHALLENGE AND GET THE RIGHT AMOUNT OF STARS
-The achievement pops after the last song

To earn this achievement, you will need to get 100% on a guitar solo and 100% on a Vocal Harmony in the same challenge. This does not need to be in the same song, just the same challenge. The easiest Challenge for this is "No Place Like Home" in the third venue: "2009 The Fox Theater - Oakland". This Challenge contains "Restless Heart Syndrome", which has a Guitar solo, and ""Last Night on Earth", which has the Harmony. The Guitar solo in "Restless Heart Syndrome" is pretty simple, so it shouldn't be much troulbe. "Last Night On Earth" only has one Double Harmony section, and you have plenty of time to finish the blue and move to the orange, so it can easily be done by one person with one Mic. You still need to earn the 13/15 stars required to pass the Challenge. The person using the Mic should also get "Step Up to the Mike & Billie Joe". If you can play Guitar and sing at the same time on Easy, you can get this achievement solo.

play a 3 song challange and have your gamertag on the mic and leave the guitar as player 2 play medium on mic easy on guitar or medium on both/easy on both and you will get it you don't have to 100% both parts on all 3 songs you can 100% each 1 on what ever song of the 3 that you 100% wich part it is you will get it at the end of the challange

You will need a guitarist and 2 singers. Play on easy difficulty, and try to get 100% on the challenge. Once you do, the trophy should pop.

0

Can be done alone. For this trophy you will need a guitar and 1 microphone. Go to Career > Local career > put on a guitar and microphone > shows > 2009 > scroll down to challenges > No place like home. Tools on easy (don't forget to select harmonies microphone).
Tasks:
1) We perform all 3 livers with 5 stars (singing for one, playing the guitar on easy - easy )
2) In the second song (Restless heart syndrome) we play the guitar solo at 100%
3) In the third song (Last night on earth) - at the end of the second chorus there will be a moment with double harmony. Singing on 1 microphone on easy is not difficult. (need to get Awesome x 2)
After completing the 3rd song and if you scored 15 stars for the challenge, you will be given a trophy.
+ receive along the way Step Up to the Mike & Billie Joe
