How to unlock the On My Own... Here We Go achievement in Green Day Rock Band - Definitive Guide

I got this on Homecoming, hard vocals. I got 100% (i think might had been 99% I was glad to have got the achievemnt ) and scored 421k. (Thanks to DegenerateGunn for putting the idea in my head).

My Score -Next Lyrics
94,600 - Well nobody cares.....
177,800 - I feel asleep, watching Spike T.V.
267,400 - Here they coming marching down the street
325,000 - Home (*the first time it is said *)
415,244 - Final

I did this run through and got 100% but didn't get my overdrive right.
Best places to deploy are during the 'No body cares' part
When Trey sings, after the 'another ex wife' line as it links in with 2 more overdrive phrases and scores well.
During the 'Home' final section WAIT till you sing a 'home' which is longer and more wavey than the other 'home' phrases as this is the FINAL overdrive phrase in the song. Don't worry when waiting for it as there is enough song left to use it all up.

nice guide, homecoming on hard is definately the easiest way,i'd just like to add to this though,me and my girlfriend have been trying for 2 days to get this and always fell around 40,000 short even doing the harmonies, however while doing the full american idiot album,we were able to carry our 4x multiplier to the start of homecoming so started out on 4x multiplyer and we saved our rock power and set it off at start of song, got well over 400,000 and the achievement popped after the song

Thanks for the solution. Got 403,000 so only just scraped through but this was on my 1st attempt and I lost my combo twice and wasted a couple of overdrives so there's plenty of room for mistakes.

I feel like this might be easier to get on Expert vocals than Hard. If you sing on Hard you'll end up somewhere very close to 400,000-- even one or two mistakes or misplaced overdrives can put you slightly under instead of slightly over. So you need to sing the song almost perfectly, and if you can do that anyway, why not put it on Expert and get more points. On Expert vocals I was able to score around 520,000 points.

Took a few practice runs, as this isn't my favorite GD song, but 407k+ on Hard. +1.

First time Solution poster, so bear with me.

First off, you DO need to do this on Expert for Guitar.
(I haven't tried any other instrument.)
If you're like me, and are tired of playing Jesus of Suburbia or Homecoming over and over again, but missing by about 20-30k I have the solution.
Play the American Idiot album CHALLENGE. For either Jesus of Suburbia or Homecoming, save your star power from the song before it, and try to finish the previous song with a 4x multiplyer. It will give you a good head start, possibly giving you the edge you need to cross the 400k mark. You won't be able to just look at your score as easily because your score does carry over from the song(s) you've already played, but you still need to get 400,000 on ONE song.
If you manage to get 400,000 points, the achievement should pop up on the loading screen for the next song.
Lastly, if you get the achievement, you will NOT have to actually complete the rest of the challenge.
Personally, I did this by accident, I wasn't trying it this way to see if it worked, but it does! So, good luck and happy hunting.

this is a very good method. a good indication that you have got over 400,000 is if you gold star the song. i gold starred the jesus of surburbia with 99% expert guitar. i had full overdrive and x4 multiplier going into the song. i have no idea how much i got but it was enough. hope this helps more

with a few mistakes throughout the song and ending with about 98 to 99% of the notes hit, you can play Jesus of Suburbia in quickplay on expert guitar, one huge tip is to make sure you come out of the guitar solo with x4, enough star power to be deployed and about 384,000 points. You can even afford a mistake or two at the end of the song and still hit 400,000. I just got this acheivement using this method and scored 400,025

Here is a video I found on the internet (i.e. it is not mine), that should net you this achievement by playing the audio into your microphone. I find it best to start the video early by pressing the spacebar. If I find it is playing the song too early, I do a quick double tap on the spacebar to pause and then resume to nudge the song forward a bit.

It works perfectly, I did 501,555 with 98% on expert! The hardest part is to synchronize the video with the game because the 1st sound on the video begins at 2,5 seconds.

Worked perfect! I had to use my phone for it's louder speakers and missed the first verse because I was timing it by double tapping pause/play. I also did it in harmonies, and even with it screwing a few of those up, I still managed without a problem and losing my multiplier 4-5 times

to do this on vocals this is easiest done on homecoming, hard or expert will get you more than enough to get this, but there's a way to make it much easier,it's a lot easier than guitar

the more mics and singers you have the better,3 will be best obviously,1 singer per mic,i did it with me and my girlfriend,we both suck at singing but you don't need to be good, just knowing the tune helps a lot

basically you put the song on solo play, not harmonies and everyone sings the song, the game will pick up whoever is on pitch at any given time,i personally just hummed the tunes while my girlfriend sang them,i caught bit of lines she missed and she got bits of lines i missed making it easy to 100% though 100% is not necessary to score 400,000,on expert i've scored 532,000 so plenty room for mistake

if you only have 1 mic then just try the humming through the mic,it's amazing how much better you do by humming, especially on long sustained notes

any questions feel free to ask

Similar to the above solutions probably the best and easiest way to get this is on Homecoming on expert vocals.

-Vocals is the easiest instrument to play in rock band everyone has a voice and with some practice and maybe a few runthroughs you should have no problem going through.

-I would also recommend going through on solo play even with a 96% out of the 115 phrases you can easily score over 450k. Solo also takes out the colored harmonies bars which can get a little confusing.

-Going through the song on harmonies will net you more points but you need to remember that even if its not one of Billie Joe's parts you still need to sing that part if you are by yourself for example the I've got a Rock and Roll Girlfriend Tre sings this part and its the orange harmony bar, but as the lead you must still sing this. Also remember that the more people you have singing the easier it is to keep your combo, and the more points you will get.

-For overdrive as a path I can't remember my exact path as the song is 9 minutes long but I'd recommend mixing it up if you're familiar with the song watch out for the long breaks in phrasing. If not try to keep an eye out for shorter phrases. The shorter the phrases the more phrases you'll complete, and the more points you'll net. Lastly I would try to use overdrive 3 at a time as opposed to 2 since the song has a fast four four meter your overdrive bar will drain quickly

-Any questions feel free to message me.
Good Luck hope this helps!!

-Below is a video if you want a sample path to follow the video isn't mine.

-Notice the video is on rock band 2 the maker ported the setlist the path should still be the same.

If you're good enough at guitar to thing you can get this on guitar, Jesus of Suburbia is far easier than Homecoming or any other song. I got 390k on my sightread, then went back and hit 400k by the time the solo began. I wound up with 445k. I had about a -2 or -3 run up to the solo (I hit 1 of 2 of the tougher chord parts at the start) then FC'd the solo. There's nothing super hard about this song.

Use Overdrive wisely -- wait for lots of chords. There's plenty of places to use it. I didn't path or check for paths -- I got it easily enough just with Rock Band experience. You can do it!

To obtain this achievement you need to score 400,000 points in one song in solo mode. This most likely needs to be done on Expert difficulty. Good songs for this include “Jesus Of Suburbia” and “Homecoming” because both are very long and have a lot of notes. Try to keep a multiplier for as long as possible and deploy Overdrive in sections with a lot of notes.

Guitar:
'Homecoming' - current top score is 450k
'Jesus of Suburbia' - current top score is 479k

Vocal:
'Homecoming' - current top score is 546k
'Jesus of Suburbia' - current top score is 523k

This one isn't that bad, and is probably best done with vocals, Choose either Homecoming or Jesus of Suburbia because these are the longest songs, it may take a bit of practise but once you can hit the notes you should be fine. If you aren't a very good singer, there is actually a way to kinda cheat this. If you have more than one mic get a friend (or two if you have two mics) and connect them both and play homecoming in solo mode (Not in harmonies) If you both sing both of the mics will fill up the multiplyer and make it much easier to keep the mulitplyer up

play Jesus of Suburbia or Homecoming on an expert guitar to score 400 points you need to score about 98-100%
