How to unlock the You Had the Time of Your Life achievement in Green Day Rock Band - Definitive Guide

Something worth of note is that Song of the Century is a vocals only song and this game only supports USB microphones and Lips microphones (Thanks to BrutishMuffin for confirming this) and not headsets.

Good Riddance also has no drums so if you are a drummer play that on something else as well.

It seems there are conflicting results when it comes to this achievement, so I advise to look at the achievements screen if you are concerned about these songs.

That said this shouldn't be difficult at all no difficulty is mentioned so feel free to bump down a difficulty if a song gets too tough. Also don't forget that it's across all instruments.

Can you do multiple instruments and get this or must every 5 starred song be done on one instrument?

As in band? Yes, if you do it this way the guitarist/bassist/drummer still needs to play Song of the Century. If you mean if it can be done across all instruments, yes.

I was just about to answer it in a less convenient way: try the demo and see if it works. lol Thanks for confirmation I'll edit the solution accordingly

A tip for those who can't 5 star Song of the Century and don't have a friend with the game who can sing: use a YouTube video of someone singing it on Expert and set your difficulty to Solo/Medium. Then play the song on your PC from the speakers into your RB microphone in sync with the song.

I played the game through completely on Guitar, and I received this achievement. I did not touch a microphone at all during the process. I can't sing, I don't even bother with any of the vocal achievements unless I have someone else do it for me.

However, I received this achievement in Xbox Live Band Quickplay. The setup I had when the achievement unlocked:

I finished all songs that I could with guitar previously, in solo Career, and I had 5 stars on them all.

I was playing with someone over LIVE who was on Mic and Bass when this achievement unlocked.

I selected "Song of the Century", and he 5-Starred it.

AFTERWARDS we played a song that required all instruments, and after the song both achievements unlocked for me. [3star all songs and 5star all songs].

So, I assume if you play Song of the Century first, then play another song and 5-star it, you SHOULD get the achievements.

Unless it was just a glitch, I'd advise you to try this if you, like me, refuse to pick up a microphone.

Good luck!

And by the way, we were both on Expert. I'm not sure if that will affect anything or not, however.

This achievement can be attained across different instruments instead of all the same, it requires any difficulty, and the stars from career and quickplay both count towards it!

Thanks! This was the information I was looking for! So I can combine instruments. Does not need to be 5 star on just one. And also it cant really be done since one song only has vocals for example. So I don't need to do them all on vocal then.

This one is very easy. Once you 5 star every song in the game you will get the trophy, You can play the songs on any difficulty. To ensure you get the 5 stars, play on either easy or medium.

Earn a rating of five stars on each of the 44 songs on the game. This can be done on any difficulty with any combination of instrument in Career and/or Quickplay. I would suggest doing this on Bass because you need to earn at least three stars on every song on Bass to obtain “In Good Health and Good Time”. You can check your progress for this and all other achievements in the “Achievements” menu in game.

NOTE: “Song of the Century” can only be played on Vocals. “Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)” does not have a Drums chart.

There is one big problem with this trophy (because of which I personally will never get it), the 44th song must be played by a group, and if you don’t have all the instruments, it’s a bummer.

All you need is a guitar and a microphone and the trophy is yours. One composition needs to be sung or muttered, as best you can in easy language, and get 5 stars. Play the rest with 5 stars on the guitar and the trophy is yours. In my opinion, a fairly easy trophy.
