How to unlock the Could It Be Magic? achievement in GRID 2 - Definitive Guide

You can get this achievement during season 3.
In every season you will be introduced to some new clubs before the WSR can start.
All this clubs do have their own prestige driver. Now you have to place better than this AI driver in an event of his club.
The last of this clubs is the drift club "Haruna Kyojin", which is the third in season 3.
If you finish an event in first position you obviously also beat the prestige driver, though beating only him should be enough.
This driver will always be presented to you in a short video sequence right before the event starts.

There is a total of 8 clubs, in detail as follows:

Season 1 (America):
New Union (Race club, Champ: Harrison Carter)
Trans America Pacers (Faceoff club, Champ: Bruno Silva)

Season 2 (Europe):
Divizero (Time Attack club, Champ: Lucien Galfione)
Eliminacion (Elimination club, Champ: Lorenzo Vela)
Euro Rand (Race club, Champ: Callum Kirkwood)

Season 3 (Asia):
Kowloon Dragons (Touge club, Champ: Zhi Huang)
Dubai VIP (Checkpoint club, Champ: Saeed Nasser)
Haruna Kyojin (Drift club, Champ: ???)

Note:
Several people have reported that this achievement did not properly unlock for them although it should have. In that case systematically replaying (and winning) club events through the timeline mode can help to make it unlock.

However, the first thing you should give a try would be the following:
Simply redo the face-off events in season one.
Why?
In the face-off events there are multiple opponents, but you race only against 3 of them during the different stages, while the others "eliminate" themselves.
So it could happen that you win the event overall, but you didn't encounter the champion of the club (couldn't find out the name so far...) and though you have beaten him indirectly anyway, it possibly counts only if you beat him yourself in a face-off.

Please also refer to the comments section for more details on the issue.

I've won every race so far and I'm into Season 5 without this achievement?

If you go to "Timeline" you can access all previous seasons. Could you please check that you didn't left out a club or that there's one where you have no first place.
If you won every event until season 3 inclusive you should clearly have gotten it. Did you change difficulty during a season (not sure, but could be the case that this affects the statistics)?

It's very stupid that you're not able to see which club hosts which event from the timeline.

Are you sure there isn't some kind of club logo visible in the background of the event picture in the timeline mode? I can't check myself at the moment, because I'm not at the box, but I think I noticed that before. If you combine this with the information which placement you got for the event (should also be displayed there), you should be able to find out what's missing. I will check myself, when I'm back online tomorrow.

Checked all previous seasons and I've won them all. In regards to difficulty, I changed it once to unlock the achievement for winning a race on hard with no flashbacks, and then changed it back. I'll probaby finish up the rest of the last season then just win the club races again.

I have exactly the same problem as stated above, which means that this achievement is bugged. Hopefully winning one event from each club again will fix it.

Hi Evil Kenivl,
thx for posting this.
I think this could imply (despite the fact that it seems to be buggy of course, if multiple report they have placed first everywhere and still didn't get it).
That this achievement is not just for beating every club's prestige driver once in an event of his club, but in ALL events of his club. Especially if you say it unlocked after the third race although you already won the first two against the same club's champ.

If there are people out there who got it definitely by beating the club champions not in ALL events of their club, but only in one or two events of the club, please comment here to help clarify, thx.

Went back through the timeline and mine unlocked through the third set of races too. Really confusing though. I thought I may have still won a set of races thanks to points and maybe placed second in one of the races so hence why my achievement wasn't unlocking. But then mine unlocked after 3 rounds of Faceoff which just seemed odd. There was no way I'd lost any of the faceoff races otherwise I would've restarted them again at the time.

Well, I guess the main thing is it's unlocked now, but I'm not 100% sure what I'd done wrong the first time round. :(

Well glad to here you got it now! :)
The description of the achievement itself is unfortunately a bit unspecific about the fact, whether you have to beat them one time or in all of their club events. I don't even remember exactly if I got mine after the first or the last event of the third club in season 3 (though I rather think it was the first one, cause I would have stated in the solution else that it have to be all events)...

Updated the solution and made a note about the reported issues. I also plan to include the rest of the club champions' names when I find the time. Though I couldn't find out the one for the faceoff club, because he isn't introduced at the beginning...

Got mine with the 4th Touge event still to go. I changed the difficulty sometimes for a couple of achievements and no problems for me. Don't know if I won all the events in 1st place or a 1st place overall.

This was bugged for me too, it unlocked in the first season on the third face off in California.

Now to try and hunt down why the 'You rOCDed!' achievement won't unlock!

The Touge champ is Zhi Huang, he's the last Touge opponent, raced at Okutama - Sakura Pass.

Thanks for this, perceptron3000. Your theory about the multiple Face-Off opponents sounds about right. After I got the "You rOCDed!" achievement I went back to figure out why this one didn't pop. In Season 1 I did the California Face-Off again, then the Miami Face-Off which after it thankfully popped. I can't even tell which one I may have missed there before, guess it's just unlucky not coming across all of them during natural progression.

Good to hear that. I'll expand the solution that this is the first way you should try if you have placed first everywhere and still not gotten it.

this just glitch'd on me as well but went back to the first face off series and was up against Bruno Silva in the final , as soon as I won the cheevo popped so I think he's your guy in the first season face off to beat also noticed his name was in caps and the other racers weren't ,not sure if that's telling you who the racers to watch arewave

I beat Bruno Silvia in the face off so I don't know why the hell it isn't unlocking for me

Just a passing note in case anyone still has this on their list of completions; Bruno Silva needs to be defeated in the final round of the Face-Off trio, I was initially confused as I'd definitely beaten him before and had won every race, but having gone back to the first club events in the timeline it took three Face-Off events before he made it through to the final too.

Hello. Me WAS having the same problem. After completing the whole carrer i didnt noticed that i still need the achievement...
I have choose the TIMELINE and started every race again... At the third race in Season 1 (!!!) the Achievement popped up for me after ive won the race.
Im not sure why this did not count bevore cause im really sure ive won EVERY race during carrer in first place (i restarted a race when i could not place first).
I was already prepared to race all of the events/races from Season 1 - 3 all over again...
So if anyone has a problem with this Achievement it seems you have no other choice then starting Season 1 - 3 by plaing the timeline again till it pops up.
Kind Regards (excuse my english)

I wonder if the problem could be the following then:
In the face-off events there are multiple opponents, but you race only against 3 of them, while the others "eliminate" themselves.
So it could happen that you win the event, but you didn't encounter the champion of the club (couldn't find out the name so far...) and though you have beaten him indirectly anyway, it possibly counts only if you beat him yourself in a face-off?
Something similar could apply for the Touge events maybe...

@WeeRyzer
The other achievement is not bound to this. You can see in the timeline what your best placement in every past event was and have to bring all to a victory. However the promo events only get a green checkmark (not sure if this is meant as victory or just as "participated").

If you're like me and have beat the game and won every race, but the achievement dud not unlock. Go to season 1 and select the Miami OCEAN DRIVE faceoff event, the guy you want to beat is on the second round his name is Carlos Alvarez... if you don't come up against him quit and restart the event. This is why people may have not unlocked the achievement. Because you don't always race him.

*edit* if Carlos Alvarez is not the guy to beat then it could be Bruno Silva. (thanks to spikeylizard)

I actually raced him in the first round, on my second attempt and once I had completed all 3 races the achievement unlocked. So solution worked for me

I came up against him first but I think the guy you want is Bruno Silva because like ukinspro I beat Carlos first and the cheevo didn't pop but as soon as I beat Bruno it did ,also noticed his name was in capitols were as the other racers weren't ,not sure if this is helpful.dance

If you did rOCDed first, just replay the first face-off in the season 1 and it'll pop-up during the loading screen after the three races.

You will get this on your way to You RoCDed!. If you finish every event on the podium (1st, 2nd or 3rd), you will be getting this at the end of Season 3.

This achievement will come with natural progression of the WSR, as long as you typically finish within the top 3 in every race. The achievement is for finishing ahead of all club drivers throughout your career, and you should come across all of them by WSR season 3.
