How to unlock the Dipping Your Toes achievement in GRID 2 - Definitive Guide

Might not be the fastest solution, but if you have someone that you can boost with it's a little easier than racing online.

Set up a custom event and pick touge, doesn't matter which track and use all 5 rounds. As the race starts, use the 5-second rule to your advantage and have the other guy sit back, you get the win within seconds of the race starting. Each round win nets you up to $3000 depending on your crash rating (white is best), and if you win all 5 of the rounds, you get up to $15000 in about 5 minutes or so...loading takes longer than the actual races. And the other guy gets up to $8000 for losing all 5 rounds. Or you can split the rounds and go every other, up to you.

EDIT: Thanks to x InSoMniA, I forgot to mention this. Also the person who is losing needs to move forward as well just really slowly or else they will get booted from the race. If whoever gets booted, you still earn money/XP towards your next level.

Thanks, got it this way. Might want to add that the person losing the race when playing touge must move slightly otherwise it kicks the player from the session.

Alternatively you might get more cash the higher level you are.

Great guide. Took a bit long to do it but definitely a solid method.

I think money wise, doing it with an upgraded car gives you more money. We started with the Alpha Romero and were winning 13000, but then we went and upgraded the car, came back, and started winning 16000 per togue.

just adding here, to make this a bit easier, the other person can hold down LT to go into reverse and it makes you win a bit faster and not kick them, so then can just go off and do something while you get wins, only issue is waiting an extra 13 seconds to start a match but thats nothing

You need 270,000 credits to reach level 10 online. The quickest playlist to rank up in is the "Alternative" playlist where you will take part in events such as Time Attack, Drift, Touge, FaceOff & Endurance. Coming in the top 3 in a 12 player event can net you around 12,000 - 30,000 credits. Winning a touge or faceoff against a single opponent can net you around 5000 credits depending on your clean drive bonus. Should only take 5-7 hrs depending on your skill. Remember you can reset your car with rewind if you mess up in a race to put you back on track.

EDIT: It seeems it can take anywhere between 250k & 350k to hit level 10 depending on how you perform in events via place and impact rating.

256,000 when I hit level 10. Got it in 41 races, 10 wins, 25 podiums, plus one time winning about 25k from winning the Weekly Challenges.

A suggestion for doing better online is remember to use your rewinds. I didn't realize you could use them online until I was already level 8 so I had a lot of last places finishes after getting wrecked and taking a while to get recovered and back on the track when the rewinds put you back on the track right away.

330,000 before I got to level ten, I think its highly dependent on skill, I won 6 times in just over 200 races online so I'd say if like me your not very good your looking a bit more grinding

Thanks guys I added info to guide, it's quite annoying that there's no one set figure to hit level 10.

Can I just suggest to upgrade your cars so that you have one available in each tier. If you're stuck using a loaner (tier 4 cars aren't available until level 20+) you'll be charged a 50% penalty, and generally is a huge waste of time.

A good way to supplement this, for people that are terrible and don't want to spend hours racing for almost nothing, is to compete each week in the global challenges. You get $10000 dollars for winning against no one, all for finishing one drift event a week.

You get more if other people compete. The one time someone else did this against me I got ~$30000 for coming in second in the leader board.

Not very useful if you can actually compete against the high level people or if you want the achievement fast, but can be a nice boost.

Above solution says "You need 270,000 credits to reach level 10 online." - it's not true. I get my achievement when i reached 203,000 credits. Im not quite sure how it's work, but when i was playing global challenge - i took 10,500 Credits each week (for only one race win - my friends finished that game already). So it took me 6 weeks to get from 8lvl to 10lvl.
It's weird, but when i was playing online races, and collect something about 5k for 1 race - my level grow up much slower...

So i suggest playing only global challenge, be sure you are the best from list - and collect each week reward. Maybe u will wait little longer for achievement, but it's less time consuming way - rather than playing random online races.

Do you have to have rivals to get credits for the weekly challenge's? I dont currently have any rivals, but I am listed as 1st place on my leaderboard.

No you do not need any rivals, I just did a week of global challenge with no rivals and got over 10k credits plus ranked up 2 levels.

The online levels are based on your credits. You will need 240,000 credits to reach level 10. You earn credits by playing races, you don’t need to win, but if you do, you earn more credits. The best modes for rank up fast are Endurance, Time Attack and Touge.

To reach level 10 online, you need to earn somewhere between 240,000 - 290,000 credits in multiplayer events, depending on the player, events and impact rating. You can also earn credits in the global challenge at the end of every week, or custom/private games but it is much lower than online races.

The easiest playlist to level up in is the "Alternative" playlist where you will take part in Endurance races, Time Attack, Drift, Touge & Face-Off events. Credits are determined based on your finishing position, as well as your driver rating. Clean drivers will earn a substantial amount more than dirty drivers. Winning in a touge or face-off event should net you between 4000-4500, and playing well in full 12-player event such as Drift, Endurance race or Time Attack can gain you from 10,000-30,000 credits.

Remember to level up your cars to gain a small advantage over others. This achievement should take between 5 to 8 hours for the average player, depending on their skill.

Fast and easy boosting method (courtesy of Creech):

Go to GRID Online, choose Events, Xbox Live, Online Custom Event, Create Game. Change Race Type to Touge, Rounds to 5. Get one boosting partner and trade wins each round. Note that if the losing player in a given round just sits at the starting line, the game will kick them out. They need to just progress slowly down the track at 30mph or so until the winning player is 5 seconds ahead of them.

Each person will get just under $10,000 every 7 minutes or so.
