How to unlock the Gone in 60 Seconds achievement in GRID 2 - Definitive Guide

This is a rather difficult achievement, but with patience and the proper racing line it is possible. First, you'll want to create a Custom Event with the following settings:
-Race Type: Race
-Vehicle Tier: Tier One
-Rounds: 1 Round
-AI Drivers: Very Easy
-Grid Order (Advanced Options): Random
-Flashbacks (Advanced Options): Unlimited
-Track Selection: Chicago - Wabash Run - Day - 5 Laps
-Vehicle: Ford Mustang Mach 1 Twister Special

During lap 1, your goal is to cleanly gain the lead and set yourself up for a good lap. You'll be going for the achievement during laps 2, 3 and 4. If you don't have the achievement by the beginning of lap 5, it is advised that you restart the event as AI cars will get in the way during this lap.

The goal is to get a lap time of 59.99 or lower, in this stock car. There are various ways of approaching this, but keeping to the racing line and controlling your drifts is essential. The best line through corners is to approach from the outside wall, steer into the inside apex of the turn, and then keep speed through the corners to the opposite side wall again. This line will allow you to maintain the best speed through corners and minimize unnecessary drifting. Use the video for the best line. You will need to drift, but the goal is to not drift too much. Drift to slow yourself down, and to get yourself through the corner, but straighten out as soon as you have enough track to do so. The most important turn of the entire track is the large downhill hairpin before the long straight. Make sure to get maximum speed through this corner and come out of it with a high top speed to shave off a good amount of seconds.

Also, keep in mind that you have unlimited flashbacks. If you are having a really good lap, feel free to spam those flashbacks and make sure you get every corner perfect.

The unlimited flashbacks helped me a lot. Took about an hour and change over a few days to get this. It is impossible to do this without drifting. My advice is watch your racing line - the more space you use to drift, the more ground you're covering and the longer it takes to do a lap. Take all turns as close to the inner apex as possible without banging into the barrier. You'll want to be below 45 seconds when you hit the final straightaway or else you'll never make it.

The first of the double turns at the end of the lap really f'ed me up. Hard to do a normal drift because you'll be going so fast at the end of the straightaway. The way I made it work was stopping with the handbrake and then making a hard left turn rather than doing a full drift as there isn't enough space. The second turn, you'll be going much slower and so you use a normal drift around the apex and then floor it to the finish line.

Good solution, quite hard to did this one. But I just got this one, nearly no brake just drift or something. Of course, I use a lot flashback to got that but crash hard in final corner. I finish it 59.37 seconds but few 5 laps attempts to improve my lap time from 1:05 to 59 seconds.

I am curious: Can you get this online? Because Online you can upgrade your car, which would make this easier I'd assume

I can confirm that you can get it with a tier 2 car. Friend of mine pulled off a 58.91. I had lied and told him I did a 58.99 and he had to beat it.

Following your tips and racing online with an upgraded Tier 2 car makes this achievement a lot easier.

To those wondering if online is easier it may be for some but I found it easier offline in the end. I ran lots of laps online but ended up getting it the next day in single player.

much easier offline for me as you can use unlimited flashbacks. do not brake until the last two turns and spam flashbacks until you get those two perfect, i shaved half a second off my time doing this which gave me the achievement

I totally agree about the drifting part.

I finished the first lap without competition in about 1:02 and thought I would never pull this off, because it was a nearly flawless run IMO (with lots of rewinding of course).
Then tried more drifting during the next lap and made it in 59:80. Could've gotten an even quicker time because I didn't do the last corners that well, but already knew I could make it by then. (and if not I could've simply rewinded)

Thank you. This was actually pretty easy with unlimited flashbacks. Just keep using your flashbacks until you make it around each corner correctly. Follow the video step by step and make sure your time matches up with his after each turn. If it's 1 second off, use your flashback and try again. I hit that sign with 46 seconds on the clock and ended up getting it at 59 seconds.

does this work in endurance events? would be the easiest to spam laps for 30 minutes to try the best...

I'll be honest, I'm surprised the ratio is this high, even for GRID 2

I would go so far as to say you HAVE to drift in order to get there. Drifting allows you to keep your speed up more than you can if you follow the traditional brake then hit the apex and accelerate out. It's actually faster in this game to basically throw the car into the turn and drift on purpose all the way through. If you are trying too hard not to drift (because in real life drifting scrubs off way more speed and is generally the slowest way through a corner) you will lose too much speed and not be able to hit the target.

after 10 minutes of perfecting the corners i popped it at 59:746 clap but i did made tiny bump at the 2nd to last corner (after the long straight part) tried that allot until i found it the tiniest bump to pass the corner but still make it. it's a very hard corner but make and if you dont pass the line before 59:99 rewind.. as it will go as far back as up to the long straight part before the corner and try to approach it differently :) +1 from me!

It is pretty much easyer if you do this online. You can tune up your Car to Tier 2 and so you are much faster. Than only open a lobby without collusions and 4-5 rounds... in the last two corners before the finishing line i used a wallride... hope this helps a little bit out... also turn the damage off... you need 25000 to buy the car and 10000 to upgrade...

Kind Regards God....

(Please give me a Note for negative votings... )

Confirming this solution - i got 58.57 using this method. i recommend to check which corners you can drive through without braking, others slide with the handbrake. for the last two i used normal brakes.

Great, thanks for this. I can confirm this is DOABLE in MULTIPLAYER and far easier that in career due to upgrading the car to Tier 2

You just need some patience in a lobby waiting for someone to join, I got it 3rd lap on the 1st race !

Many thanks !

OK, I'll add my solution too. None of the above helped me, as I tried for several hours and was short by just over a second on my best attempt. I had a perfect driving line, used flashbacks in almost every turn, etc. Still too slow. I tried to use the hand brake technique suggested by Shadows184, and couldn't manage to get the achievement. Finally, I just decided to try and not brake AT ALL. PEDAL TO THE METAL. So, I approached the turns at full speed, just turned the car rather brusquely and it started drifting. I just controlled the drift and the car kept a much higher speed than when I tried to brake a bit, start to steer and then gently apply throttle again (or using had brake). The only time I used the brakes was after the long straight line before the last two turns. Using this technique, I got 58.46 on my first try, and even improved to 57.98 on the next lap.

Edit: please check some extra tips by Lordwinter666 in the comments!

The solution is great, but i just want to add some tips. The trick is to constantly shift the weight of your car through corners. For example approach a left turn throught the outside lane, and then approach the following one through the inside lane adjusting with flashbacks the best car trajectory. One thing to keep in mind also is that your speed should never drop below 80 miles in corners, if it drops below 8o rewind if not you are probably ok. As mentioned before the trickiest part is the last hairpin, in my case i approached aggresively from the inside using the handbrake and drifted. To pull out this trick you need to drive on the road and not step on the pavement (there is a small pavement at the corner). If you step on it you car will jump a little bit and wil be hard to control.

The way I beat this was by looking at youtube. You literally have to hit the turns absolutely perfectly. No slamming into walls, but you can't slow down too much either. It was a real pain

Got this after my first couple tries using this method. If you use the rewind to make sure you are staying around 93-89 MPH on every turn (except the final two) then you should get this easy. +1!

Thanks for the tip, was trying to do this legit braking on each corner until I read your guide, full throttle through every corner balancing the car to stay above 85/90mph except the last 2 with a bit of handbrake.

Thanks man!

I was finding it hard to beat 1m1sec till I tried this method and got it my first atempt.
Try racing the whole lap with the accellerator (rt) down fully the whole time, when on a corner tap the handbrake (b) to slide around.
This will help maintain high speed through the corners.
The only time you mite want to lift the accellerator is at the end of the straight 2 corners from the finish.
Obviously you must use the correct racing line and stay off the walls.Use flashbacks when you dont get a corner perfect.
Give it a go and hopefully it helps

Like Maka has said, you need to get every corner perfect, using a perfect racing line.
You have unlimited flashbacks so don't be scared to use them.
I completed the lap in 58secs. Best way to tell if you're going to make it is if you exit the hairpin corner at no more than 42.50 secs, you must slide around the hairpin in one clean slide. Tap you're handbrake around most corners to keep you're speed up while you slightly slide around each corner, if you lose speed on any corners use a flashback till you get it rite.
Hope this helps guys

Edit: Please tell me if you feel my guide deserves negative feedback

Custom Event Settings

  • Event Type: Time Attack
  • Car Tier: Tier One
  • AI Drivers: Doesn't matter
  • Advanced Options - Grid order: Random
  • Advanced Options - Flashbacks: Unlimited
  • Track Selection: Chicago, Wabash Run , 5 Laps
  • Car: Ford Mustang Mach 1 Twister Special

This is a little tricky to do because you have to basically take every corner as fast as you can and you can't really use the brakes at all. This video shows the driving line I took and finished with a time for 58 seconds. My advice would be for you to take a few practice runs on the track first to get to know the corners and how fast you can take them, then go for the under 60 seconds time. I did this in time attack, but it can also be done in a race.

The best way to do it though is to watch the video below and try and take every corner like I do, if you fail just use a flashback. Achieving a time of under 60 seconds abusing the flashback system is very manageable.

However, if you still struggling with this trophy, you can get it online. In online you can upgrade your Mustang, making it faster. Just remember, you have to spend credits to upgrade your car, so if you're using this method, you will have to play a few races first to have enough credits to spend on your Mustang. The Mustang itself costs $25,000. After you're ready to do it, create a Custom Online Event at Chicago - Wabash Run and do a lap in less than 60 seconds. If you need a partner for this, you can find on the Trophy Boosting Thread. Thanks to robinworldwide for this tip.

One of the most difficult achievements in the game. You really have to tie your balls in a knot to knock it out (I, for example, had to, although I'm not such a bad driver). Your task is to complete the Chicago Wabash Run while driving a Ford Mustang Mach 1 in less than a minute. This achievement is a direct reference to the excellent 2000 film Gone in 60 Seconds. To achieve the achievement, do the following - go to Custom Event and set the following settings:

Race type: Race

Car class: Tier One (first class)

Number of rounds: 1 round

Difficulty of AI opponents: Easiest

Number of flashbacks: Infinite

Course: Chicago - Wabash Run - Day - 5 laps

Car: Ford Mustang Mach 1 Twister Special

And we begin to wind circles and try to keep it in less than 1 minute. The main rule is to try to drift as little as possible.

Here is the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?featur...&v=Fx7wRskkcLU

during the lap, do not release RT (except for the last two turns), press on the turns for a slight skid so as not to lose speed. Use flashbacks if you didn't get the perfect trajectory and/or you hit something. I also advise you not to bet more than 5 laps, because the opponents you will overtake for the second lap will interfere
