How to unlock the Spa Time achievement in GRID 2 - Definitive Guide

Pretty easy to do. Go into World Series Racing and on the screen choose 'Custom Event'.

Next, choose the race type 'Race' or 'Endurance' (in Time Attack other cars can get in the way) but make sure to choose a very fast Tier 4 or IndyCar (IndyCar DLC required) for 'Vehicle Tier'.

Make sure you have unlimited flashbacks in Advanced Options just in case!

It will probably be easier if you have the AI set to an easier difficulty level as they will be less likely to get in the way during the opening lap.

On your second lap you should be able to get a clean run, I managed to get a 1:43 in the Dallara IndyCar without pushing hard, just make sure you stay on the road! Flashbacks seem to be okay for this achievement too, so if you do end up making a mistake don't be afraid to use one!

The achievement should pop as soon as you cross the line with a laptime under 1:49:00.

Try it a couple hours with the Bugatti Veyron and Audi R8, but couldn't get anywhere near 1:49. Decided to buy the Indycar and got it in my first clean lap. Defenitily the way to get it, if you wanna to spend a couple of bucks for it if you don't already have the indycar pack.

IndyCar worked a treat for me too - I did a pretty scruffy lap and still managed a 1:48.5

I just want to say. FUCK YOU AND YOUR GODDAMN INDYCAR >.< I've been getting times of 1:49.XXX for the past 10 laps.

Good guide though.

I attempted this achievement with the Bugatti Veyron as I didn't have the "Indy Car" DLC pack. It wasn't the easiest of times to beat at first but with a bit of practice, plenty of flashbacks, and a touch of patience, I managed to nail it.

The tips and tricks provided in the other two solutions posted up are helpful, I would just like to share my recording of the successful lap for those who may want to see the lap beating time in action.

I unlocked the achievement on my second lap but have left the first in the video so then people can see where I went wrong and struggled and can kind of learn from my mistakes if you will.

Ideally u want to progress far enough through the original campaign as u will need a tier four car to pop this I used the Audi r8 really u want to learn the track as much as possible and make sure u set it to unlimited rewinds when u hit the final chicane u want to be turning in at around 1.40 when u cross the finish line if u come in at over 1.49 rewind back to the S bend and try again - as you use a long straight before the bend u want to try and go in with enough speed try not to drift as this will cost you time - I just scraped 1.49 as I was rewinding back to the final chicane my achievement popped - u may find other cars which may do your time quicker however they may be harder to control

Just keep trying with the final bend if u are close u can cross the start finish line check your time if your over rewind and have another crack at it

Hope this helps

I found it easier to skip the last S shaped curve altogether. If you angle across the grass right and go back onto the track just before you hit the wall (where it makes a 7ish shape) it takes about three more seconds to cross the finish line. I always found that I had to brake too much to cross the finish line in time if I tried to actually follow the track.

@exit9500 the most you can get away with cutting is the 1st stripping on the right anything else and you loose more time due to the penalty - can you show a replay?

Just my thoughts.. the Veyron takes a little longer to stop and can take a little longer to get around sharper corners but has the higher top speed. The Audi R8 stops quicker and has better handling but will hit max speed on the longer straight.

A dab of handbrake wont hurt you on the very last corner wink don't go wide tho half of the car on the stripping is enough.

I did not try any other cars as the R8 got me through this achievement. Good Luck.

I saw Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport and Audi R8 LMS Ultra among the most recommended but I did it with Koenigsegg Agera R as it is faster than Audi on straights and easier to brake than Bugatti. Fast corners can be a problem for this car (very unstable there) but that's what rewinds are for :D

You can attempt this trophy either online or offline. Going online means that you can use upgraded cars, however you will have access to flashbacks offline, therefore I'd recommend choosing this option.

There are multiple Tier 4 cars that are capable of achieving a lap time under 1:49. My personal recommendation would be the the Audi R8 LMS, which is easy to control but fast enough to reach the required time.

While this can be achieved in any event type, I suggest attempting it in a race event. Start a race with the highest possible number of laps, unlimited flashbacks and the AI difficulty set to Easy.

Focus on gaining the lead on the first lap. This way, you'll have a clean track ahead of you when entering Lap 2. You will really need to achieve a near-perfect lap in order to earn this trophy. If you feel like you could have taken a corner from a better angle, you should use a flashback by pressing and retake the corner.

The trophy will unlock shortly after you complete the lap within the required time. Feel free to exit the race at that point.
