How to unlock the Caffeine and Catchup achievement in GRID Legends - Definitive Guide
If you were worried this would be like Forza Motorsport 6 and 7's notorious start in last place, don't worry, you can just get this on your own very easily.
Just go to the race creator in the main menu and select Elimination. I did Classic Mini Cup because the mini is fairly easy to control and it's harder to mess up in a slower race.* Any location is fine but a simple circuit with a wide track makes it easiest. I did Crescent Valley, Oval Circuit, Day, and of course, 22 drivers. Grid order can be random, doesn't matter. AI Difficulty Easy obviously.
Once the race starts go slowly until you hit last place, then just race to the front. It's easy to spin out if you hit cars so just take your time slowly going around them. You only need to not be in last place so take your time, but you'll pretty easily rocket to first anyway. Just stay there until all the opponents are eliminated. It'll pop once you hit podium.
* Plus, the mini is free. You don't need to own it to race. It takes half your winnings to "rent" it, which you don't care about here.

For the record, there is an option for “Player Last” under starting position.

I agree with the other comment, I used the "Player Last" setting and it 100% worked for me.
I used the rookie open wheel car because I wanted to rank it up to finish the open wheel races in career - they're squirrelly but once you're ahead it's easy to rack up the miles. So I'd suggest any car they don't have to rent that they need to put mileage on would work!

Easiest way to do this is in an elimination event with 2 rounds. If you win the first round (which you more than likely will), you'll automatically start round two in last (22nd) place. Go on to win the 2nd event and get your trophy!
