How to unlock the "See how the big boys play, eh Manny?" achievement in Grim Fandango Remastered - Definitive Guide

During Year 2, Maximino can be found in the VIP lounge of the cat racing track. There’s an area with a large door to the kitchen in the centre, and from here and can enter another room with several tables and chairs (not via the elevator or the stairs). A black entryway can be seen on the left, this is Maximino’s office, and speaking to him unlocked the achievement.

This needs to be done after Nick helps free Terry, else the office of Maximino will stay unavailable.

You're right. After another playthrough, you can indeed visit Maximino before talking to Nick. It's only after you talk to Nick that he will go to Max's office, making it unavailable to you to enter.

Yeah, exactly! You can still speak to Nick first, as long as you don’t make him leave the table! smile

This was a little glitchy for me. I had met with Maximino, but he didn't give me the "See how the big boys play" dialogue initially. I exhausted the dialogue options until Manny said he'll let him get back to watching his kitties, left the room, and when I re-entered and tried to speak with Maximino again then it triggered the dialogue and achievement.

I was still able to visit Max after talking to Nick and he left the table. I just had to wait a bit for Nick to return to the lounge table. At that point Max was available and I got the achievement right after entering the room.

I only chose one dialogue option and this popped right away. Weird!

I had the same problem as prowlerdante. If the achievement doesn't pop at first, leave and reenter and speak with Maximino again.

I’m still in my first play through of year 2 and haven’t met Terry, but have unlocked the achievement. I entered Maximino’s office after going to the Blue Casket and speaking to Olivia, then returning to the cat racing track and speaking to Nick outside Maximino’s office.
