How to unlock the The Nightmare achievement in GRIME - Definitive Guide
New Game Plus only
To start a New Game Plus,
- open a file where you have beaten the final boss ("Inevitable" achievement)
- go to any save point
- at the save point, select 'Reality Shift'. This replaces your playthrough 1 file with a NG+1 file.
The NG+1 file completely replaces your old playthrough, but keeps all your stats, mass, items, equipment - no exceptions.
I recommend getting all the base game and expansion achievements before using the reality shift. Beating the bosses gives you upgrades that will make your NG+1 playthrough easier. Also upgrade your favourite weapon to +6.
In NG+1,
- beat Flowerheart in Nerveroot (East of Nerveroot warp)
- beat Giant of Eyes in top-left Childbed (under Enveloping Petals warp)
- beat Surrogate Vulture in top-right Childbed (left of The Dream Fog warp)
- collect The Child's thoughts at the bottom of Childbed
- enter the small green warp at the bottom of Childbed
- beat the bonus NG+1 boss.
Apart from the bonus boss, this is exactly what you did for the Colors of Rot title update achievements in your first playthrough.
You could combine them, but I recommend beating all bosses in both playthroughs, so your character is prepped for the bonus boss. It's a step up from the rest of NG+1: good luck

The thoughts found in the Peak Of Creation (for the Kin achievement) aren't required, they are even gone in NG+. it is possible to enter the green ripple already if not all of the things listed above are done.
This bonus boss has a fast move-set that will keep you on your toes. If your build is high in dexterity and resonance stats and using the proper traits (like ancient limb and fledgling yr), it is recommended to repel most of it's attacks (if it's not glowing red and doing charging attacks or when it has it's weapon thrown away). Repelling does damage it and you can do more damage yourself. For me it's still trial and error now I got used to it's attack patterns. I managed to beat it in the Steam version.
Fortunately you will spawn next to the ripple in the boss area upon dying, so no long and annoying boss-runback is required.
For a quite tough boss as this one it's not really rewarding; no mass, a sanguine ichor, a new skin/costume which doesn't increase any of the stats and only 15 g's.
