How to unlock the That's one big Gato Frito achievement in Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition - Definitive Guide

This achievement is part of the story and cannot be missed.

*Spoiler*
In the Temple of Rain, at one point you will run up the back of a large dragon-esque beast (the Alebrije) to continue through the temple and it then has disappeared when you return to that area. At the end of the Temple, the beast returns and you will then be chased by it in an on-rails section.

Survive the chase and at the end you run into a golden axe, causing the bridge you have just run across to disappear. The Alebrije will fall into the lava.

**NOTE** It appears that players have been unable to unlock the achievement while playing in co-op. Not sure if a fix has been identified for this to date. (Thanks to NeoSm0ke & skyhopperk for the added info)

Hi!

For some reason, this achievement did not unlock for me. I'm 100% sure I picked up the golden Axe and dropped him in the lava in Mario-style. I allready need to face flameface.

I was playing together with my girlfriend on the same console. She didn't unlock 1 single achievement during the session.

Now my progress is saved beyond this point and I need to start over to grab this achievement. :(

That's a pain NeoSm0ke! I've not played co-op so not sure what the known issues are. I would suggest starting a save game #2 (which nets you a separate achievement if you haven't done that already) and quickly doing up to that section to unlock the achievement. Then carry on as normal in your main save game? Or you could do it after you've finished the main game - in a hard mode playthrough?

Yeah i know, but i was just informing you. Might be an idea to put it within Your guide so that others may look out if this happens too And so they van confirm it. :)

I'm playing single-player and this achievement didn't pop. Not impressed.

Love the Mario reference. Hate that my princess is in another castle.

Why doesn’t this achievement have a buggy tag? I missed it a few hours ago since I was playing co-op

Edit: I was able to unlock it today playing single player on a new save file.

This seems to still be bugged in 2023, played in single player and didn't get it.
