How to unlock the Messiah Will Not Come achievement in Guilty Gear -Strive- - Definitive Guide

You have to clear the first 8 stages without losing a round, including stage 8 Nago on Extreme which of course its 1v1. There's an easy way to cheese both Nagoriyuki stage 8 and Super Nago in stage 9. When you get to stage 9 you can continue all you want and you will still get the achievement after beating stage 9. You can double jump above him and it will have him do a normal and whiff, you then throw loop him after double jumping above him, also double jump to behind him and throw him back to center if he was cornered as it is better keeping him in the center. Throwing does really great damage and a quick way to do constant damage after each of his whiffs when you double jump.

All the videos show this on stage 9, but stage 8 feels impossible as his attacks always knock me out of the air when trying to double jump.

Another thing : when you arrive on stage 8 and you lose a round.... just lose the other one and repeat the match. Don't need to restart all the arcade ;) . You just need to beat stage8 2-0 like the previous fights, if you lost one round and then you win the match, at that moment you reset your streak and need to restart. I hope I made myself clear ^^

This game is so hard. Tried it on a backup, and I can't even get to the 6th fight in the arcade. Fun game and looks gorgeous, but won't be going for achievements. The "cheese" of forward + slash with Sol Badguy up to fight 8 mentioned on PSNProfiles doesn't really work, in my opinion.

I can confirm you can keep doing rematch as long as you are always 2-0 when moving onto next stage

Nagoriyuki Stage 8 isn't that bad, he takes more damage too and he offense isn't as crazy and it could just take few minutes throw looping to victory & just beat him straight win 2-0 first try.

When you get to stage 9, don't change character because you'll have to restart at stage 1 lol.

In Stage 9 whenever he gets stunned, you can do a combo into super on him too or just super instead if you want as it does more damage than throwing him.

Idk how the 112 players have got this but I've been trying over and over. He literally keeps teleporting constantly. When I jump over him, he's teleported. When I try and do a combo. He's blocking and somehow counters. It's insane. I'm on about stage 8 too, can only imagine what stage 9 will be like

Stage 9 Nagoriyuki can really get you anytime making it like it was unlucky, just keep trying lol. Use the useful gimmick by throw looping and what you want to do when he's stunned

I just got this bullshit achievement after about 2 hours of slamming my head against the brick wall that is Stage 9, I used Giovanna personally because she's my favorite on the roster. I just wanted to point out that I think the conditions to unlock the fight are not completely accurate as I lost about 4 times on Stage 7 and was still on Extreme mode in Stage 8, so I decided to hell with it lets see if Stage 9 will still unlock if I go 2-0. So I did and still got the Stage 9 boss even though I had lost a couple of times before hand.

@Fuzzmeister J - Certain characters would do that against me too, definitely more common the further in you get but I'd keep trying it. I've consistently used it to get to stage 8 at least 4 or 5 times. Something else I forgot to mention is mapping Faultless Defense to either LT or RT. It drains your Tension bar but it can save your life. Works well against Nagoriyuki as well, especially with how much damage he deals.

Edit: I did it, i f'ing did it. I can't belive it haha. Potemkin throw loop for the win. God damn it was hard though.

To anyone having trouble with this: Potemkin takes damage at 0.94x the rate of other characters, so he's able to tank more hits. Additionally, Potemkin has a killer 623H if Nago gets close, and his 6H>46H can initiate a Wall Break and deal massive damage that way. Next, Potemkin's 214H can inflict Guard Break on an opponent, allowing you to close up and do a high/low throw mix. Finally, if the match is timing out and he's proving too much of a challenge, use your 236236S with proper Tension to deal a supremely powerful move.

Stage 8 was harder for me than Stage 9. Stage 8 took 15 tries while Stage 9 only took 2 tries. Stage 9 is easier because his capability to be stunned while always being in blood mode allows you to output more damage. Stunned? Use a super, ideally against a wall for a smash attack for extra damage. I couldn't use a Dust Homing attack for some reason; it wouldn't launch him into the air.

Since it wasn't mentioned, you don't have to go 2-0 on Stage 9 either. I went 2-1 and achievement still popped.

Keep an eye on his blood meter and when he's close to being stunned, have your super prepped especially if he's against a wall.

Oh and don't pay attention to your health bar. That'll only make you panic as it goes lower and lower.

If you want a easy completion, don't do this game!
I thought that i am pretty decent in Beat em up's, that took me on my first attempt about 300 tries till i give up. I put this game away and thought about quitting. Now aboit two weeks later i tried it again for about 30 tries and on the next day about 40.

The beste advice is to do a break around every 30/40 tries and try it on the next day, do not hustle trough it at once.

(sorry if there is any big grammer Misstacks, but im sure you all will understand the point)

Anyway, if you decide to go for the Achievement, I wish you all the best of luck, you need it

I spent more than seven hours on the last boss so far and I have absolutely no chance to defeat him twice. Once maybe in every 2 hours. I saw the videos with the double jump method but it just straight up doesn't work for me. The boss anti airs me all the time, even the first jump. Sometimes he allows me to take down his health to around 20% and then absolutely destroys me. I can't block anything. I'm playing with Anji but I can't reliably do the quarter circle attack so it doesn't help either.
I did what I don't do usually and put the game in Quick Resume because I could barely get through the arcade mode and I don't think I can do it again. Hopefully if I could ever do it the achievement will unlock. I don't understand why the double jump doesn't work.

Before starting this game, I checked guides for their estimated difficulties. They rank between 4.5 to 6 (out of 10). I thought it was going to be an easy one. Nope it was not.
Hate those guys who gave misleading information about the difficulty. End rant.

The game achievement difficulty being 6/10 is correct tbh, because of the exploit to easily beat Shadow Nagoryuki by double jumping towards him and throwing. Alot do it no damage too. Just learn to be patient and even with poor spacing or good spacing, keep trying since you don't have to restart the arcade mode if you reached Shadow Nagoryuki

So, the nest character Elephet has a spam attack that people are using to get this. cn_downcn_downleftcn_leftcn_Y Then just spam cn_Y until you get hit or win. Repeat.

edit: Just tried this after installing the game and got it with only 3 losses. yay!

You have to TRAIN! But yeah... awesome idea and ir works. I used Sol. When the dude is bewildered and you have any tension bar completed just give to him special and start to walk to him as soon as possible to shorten the distance before start the double jump because he can do a diagonal red cut to catch you.

Just here to reinforce that this strategy can work. Sol spamming (forward)Y until 8, and then double-jump throw loop on 8. Level 9 - start with a throw and go into double-jump loop, whenever he became stunned I did a Dust (RB) combo because I was confident in my throw loop. To add to the strategy, whenever his health changes to orange he becomes A LOT less agressive and you can throw loop him on wake-up if you get the timing right.

I did it after 216 attempts and 2 hours and let me tell you. It was the hardest achievement I've ever gotten, the way I did it was to throw him, hover jump, throw him into the corner and hover jumped forward then repeat that and pray a lot. A few things that can go wrong are: him not using 623HS in which case you're fine doing the same hover jump forwards as long as he doesn't use 236K or 214K, and if he does be prepared to use your burst and/or Roman Cancel, or use FD until he uses 632146HS then go for an easy throw, last but not least be prepared to lose your sanity

I tried using Anji as was pointed out elsewhere around the internet because he's supposed to be able to cheese 8 and 9 pretty easily using his spin move. The issue is that I absolutely suck with him and struggle to make it past Stage 4-5 with him. If you look up the cheese method with him, it's out there if you can make it to Stage 8.

Anyway, Sol Badguy was who worked for me. He's pretty useful in getting to Stage 8 as well. There's some luck to it but you can honestly just use cn_rightcn_Y constantly on the enemy. More often than not they won't block the attack. As you build up your Tension gauge you can use his super attack to pretty much finish them off. Also, just to clarify something, Stage 1 is the only fight you NEED to win 2-0. After that you'll be on the Extreme path. If you lost a round on Stage 2 or higher, just lose the next round on purpose and hit rematch. You'll still be on Extreme path.

Stage 8 I found the guide worked just fine. It took me a while to get used to the timings but keep at it. Make sure not to double jump too soon or too late. If you can get through this fight, you'll be able to beat the next one too.

In Stage 9 walk right up to him (don't dash) while he's powering up and throw him just as he finishes, then use the double jump grab method until he's dazed (from his blood meter running out). At that point you're free to use whatever attacks you want on him but I chose to use the Dust attack to launch him in the air followed by the homing jump. Does excellent damage with the air combo.

If you can time it near perfect, right after landing you can dash up to him and get him back in the throw loop. I found this was risky though cause my timing was often off so I chose to take my chances with a double jump instead. Once in a while he'd smack me out of the air but most attempts I could double jump over him and his slash and start the throw loop over again. It's an infuriating fight, especially going in blind.

Hello all.
I know there are a lot of guides for this one , but thought the most easy one is still not listed.
Here are the steps and requirements for the Achievement :

1. Choose Arcade Mode
You need to get to stage 9 to face the most powerful boss. The only way to get to stage 9 is to win each match 2-0 in rounds. A very easy way to do this is if you lose 1 round let the CPU beat you and just select rematch - You can see this in my video below when I lose to Chipp on stage 7. You must do this for the first 8 fights and win each of the 8 fights 2-0 to stay on the Extreme difficulty route and to face the most powerful boss. Once on the most powerfull boss ( Stage 9 - the 2nd time you face Nagoriyuki) you can lose a round and still continue to try and win to unlock the achievement.

2. Choose your character
Choose your character as Anji Mito.

3. Fight Strategy
I used the same strategy through all fights and by the end I only had to rematch about 5-6 times.
The first 6 fights I did without losing a round. I lost once on the new character Bedman which i beat on the first rematch and then lost on Chipp on stage 7 before losing a few times to Nagoriyuki.

My main and very easy strategy was to do the following : ( Facing right - change to opposite if facing left)

Use cn_downcn_downrightcn_X , then dash towards your opponent cn_rightcn_right , then throw your opponent cn_RB

That is the strategy basically. Try get them in a loop and if you lose , let them beat you and rematch.

cn_downcn_downrightcn_X , cn_rightcn_right , cn_RB

Tips and Tricks : Very Important

1. Do not let your opponent get to the corner of the screen as this method doesnt work in a corner.
Keep changing the direction of your throw when you get close to a corner.

2. If you get knocked down and your opponent is right next to you , immediately throw when you stand up , do not go for the cn_downcn_downrightcn_X , just cn_RB and then go back to the main moves loop.

3. If your opponent is far away , then block and wait to start the moves loop.

4. This does take a little luck , so try be patient

This was a great strategy. It took me like 75 attempts but finally got it. The first 7 fights were all pretty easy doing this, but Nagoriyuki is still quite difficult. You don't have much room for error, especially in the 2nd fight. He just has so much health and does so much damage. Sometimes you'll get a rhythm on the grab loop and he can't do anything, and sometimes you mess up once and he kills you from full. But like the guide says, be patient and try to learn from each fight. How to block different moves, when you can try starting your loop again, those kind of things.

Anyway, great solution. It definitely works.

the above guide is really good but here are a few tips i learned while playing;

best to use a character that doesn't jump super high. I did this with sol badguy but have seen anji used as well. Stage 8 is hard due to Nago constantly breaking your grab loop. And stage 9 because of his brutal combos that do devastating damage. Also wanted to clarify that if you lose a round, lose the second one on purpose and you will be able to stay on your extreme difficulty needed for this. I had 97 match losses before I got this, so it does NOT need to be done in 9 matches consecutively, as long as you win 2-0 you will stay on your extreme difficulty.

Good luck. You will need it.

Heya everyone

I just wanted to add in that now this achievement is far easier than previous due to Elphelt being added into the game. Due to the ai not being exactly amazing, you can spam her reka (quarter circle back + slash) and honestly just repeat buttons and resetting it (best method is to hit kick to do a low, then reset by pressing slash). This method is far better imo than say learning Anji, as long as you're getting Elphelt/this season pass. I also believe that boss Faust is a far more manageable boss than Nago, simply because most of the "boss upgrades" are based on his item toss, which he simply can't do if you blockstring him in the corner. Best tips to get into reka may vary depending on skill level, I had the best experience going for jumping slash, but whatever will get you into reka fast and easy is the way to go

Please note that the further in arcade mode you go, the ai handles the reka better. Ky especially is a pain to fight, but overall I spent nearly 1/3rd of a time beating Elphelt's arcade mode than just getting to stage 8 Nago on my main fighter

I got this using Nagoruyiki and almost breaking my thumbs in the process. The double jump technique works well, but I wasn't familiar/comfortable enough with any other character to try my hand at this monster.

First: Get to Stage 9 Extreme
  • You can't lose a single round before round 8
  • You CAN lose in round 8 as often as you need to, but you MUST beat round 8 with a 2-0 round count. If you're beat in a round, intentionally lose the next round and rematch until you go 2-0. (thanks to LyotoTech for that info)
  • You can lose/rematch as many times as it takes to beat Stage 9, you don't need to go 2-0
It's at this point I also recommend swapping Faultless Defense to cn_LT to make the later parts of the rounds easier and avoid chip damage. This allows you to block with FD, but still use Dust to throw immediately.

Using Nago as my character, I used the throw loop in a different way. Once Nago goes blood-rage at the very beginning of the match, take 1 or 2 steps backwards, then hold down-back. You'll be holding down-back pretty much the entire match, always blocking until you see him teleport. As soon as you see the teleport, throw him by holding left or right and pressing Dust cn_RB (default). You're always going to want to stand just outside of sweep range to have the highest chance of him teleporting right on top of you. Anything closer than that, and he'll just spam slash attacks. Anything farther away and his teleport won't be within grab range.

After 4 grabs, he'll enter a stun state. This is where you use your most damaging *meterless* combo (save the meter for FD). I chose to do the homing jump/air combo/slam attack (hold cn_RB, mash cn_up, air combo). He has insanely high defense, so go with the combo you trust yourself to hit the most that does the most damage. Don't try going into raw Overdrive, i could *never* get it to land as he always jiggled out of stun immediately before it hit, for some reason.

If you start getting low on health, stay at the same distance (right outside sweep), and crouch block with FD enabled. His heavy slash attacks in Blood Rage mode still do an insane amount of chip damage, so using FD will allow you to stay alive long enough to wait for another teleport.

If he uses his Blood Rage Overdrive (the large horizontal slash), MAKE SURE HE DOES NOT CANCEL INTO SOMETHING ELSE before trying to punish. You can punish this with a teleport of your own, then your preferred combo from above. He has a very bad habit of cancelling out of his Overdrive's though, so play it safe.

This took me around 30 or so fights to find the teleport/grab/rinse/repeat rhythm, and learning when it was safe to attack him during his recovery after big moves. Playing patiently is the thing I had to keep yelling at myself, as I would break my throw rhythm to try to juuuuuuuuuuust get that last little bit of health off of him. Don't do it. Play it safe, as he can drain half your life in a blink.

TL:DR:
-Stay just outside of sweep range, crouch-block, and wait for teleport
-Throw, throw, throw, throw
-4 Throws in a short span = stunned, damaging combo
-Use Faultless Defense if your health drops below 25%
-Punish any of his big moves that have a lot of recovery time, pausing slightly to make sure he doesn't cancel
-PLAY IT SAFE. DO NOT TAKE RISKS

To add to the other guides as a head ups,

I did get this achievement to work, But be aware this achievement can be gimmicky at times. I beat it 3 times before the Bedman character update each time with Chipp. Even though I did all the requirements for the achievement, it didn't unlock at the end of each run. The same thing happened with the Armor clad faith achievement since it's really just a halfway point for this one. After the Bedman character update there were some bug fixes given out, though none were related to achievements. Still, I decided to go through this annoying achievement one more time with Potemkin and it finally worked, I got the achievement. Be very mindful, If you don't get armor clad faith during your run then your most likely not going be able to get the messiah will not come. I would recommend exiting the game and restarting your Xbox and try to go for it again til you get armor clad faith unlocked on a run. I used Chipp (only because he's my main), and Potemkin both and won. I've heard that Potemkin, and Anji both works really well, but I'd personally say Potemkin is the better option with him being able to do more damage. You can also infinitely stun Nagoriyuki with perfectly timed throws, this can be faster with some added Potemkin busters but they're not really needed. He has an insanely small frame room so your throws need to be highly on point. It took me several attempts but it finally clicked for me. I wish everyone the best of luck. Anyone can do this, you just need the time dedicated for it.

NICE WIN

25 May 2023 13:46

To obtain this achievement you have to beat Stage 9 Nagoriyuki. To reach Stage 9 in Arcade Mode you have to win every single match without lose a single round, including Stage 8 Nagoriyuki. If you reach Stage 8 successfully, you will face him alone. He has more health, more damage, Blood Gauge fills automatically and he doesn't lose life when transformed, also his DP and other moves has invincibility frames, as well as his Transformation animation. The easiest way to beat him is with chain grabs and abusing the Wall Break mechanic to deal massive damage. I recommend using either Sol, Ky or Ramlethal, but if you're confident enough you can use whenever character you like. The key to win is abusing when Nago transform and grab him in the LAST frames of the animation, then wait to him to wake up and grab him again when the animation of waking up is completely finish, the only risk is that he can make his invincible DP in any time he wakes up, making a counter and therefore huge damage. If you have 50% Tension in the corner, you can just grab him and make a super to Wall Break and deal huge damage (or make a combo to break it), then you can take advantage of the Positive Bonus state (Tension refills automatically and your damage is increase). Another strategy is pausing the game whenever he makes his dash, to know where is he going to be and grab him when hes close to you. After defeating Stage 8 Nagoriyuki without losing a round, Stage 9 Nago appears. Its the same than Stage 8, with the difference that Nagoriyuki has tree times more health, more damage and he starts transformed. The big difference is that you can begin to grab him after the transform in the beginning of the match, making chain grabs more easy, but with more risk due to his enormous life bar. Use the same strategies from Stage 8 and most important: be patient, one bad attack can cost you the match. Also, you dont need to win all rounds anymore to unlock the achievement. Good luck!

This may be the hardest trophy to get for this game. To obtain it, you must defeat Stage 9 Nagoriyuki in Arcade Mode who is only available at the Extreme difficulty. In order to stay in Extreme difficulty and reach Stage 9, you can not lose a round INCLUDING against Stage 8 Nagoriyuki. However, there is some forgiveness here. If you lose a round against an opponent, then let him or her beat you the next round and select rematch. When you win the fight without losing a round, you will see that you are still at Extreme difficulty and still on track to face Stage 9 Nagoriyuki.

Stage 8 Nagoriyuki can basically be seen as the tutorial for Stage 9 Nagoriyuki, as you can use the same tactics to win both fights. Nagoriyuki is tough to beat if you fight him head on, but lucky for us who are not pro players, he has an exploit. This exploit is mainly that he has several openings where he can be grabbed for a throw(cn_left or cn_right+cn_R1). First, REMEMBER that you have to win both rounds in Stage 8 to reach Stage 9. If you win after you lose a round Arcade Mode will end and you will have to run through Arcade Mode again. In Stage 8, the easiest way to start the exploit is to knock Nagoriyuki down so you can run in and throw him as soon as he gets up into his normal standing position. you can usually get an attack against Nagoriyuki as soon as the round starts. I main Ky Kiske so I usually start with Dire Eclat (cn_down,cn_downleft,cn_left+cn_T), but you cannot usually throw him after it due to the recovery time. The main move I use to knock Nagoriyuki down and run in for the throw is a crouching slash (cn_down+cn_T) followed by the Stun Dipper (cn_down,cn_downright,cn_right+cn_X) or just use the Stun Dipper by itself. The sliding kick will not knock him down, but if the slash that follows hits him, Nagoriyuki will fall. Once you throw him, the next move is to run in and jump over him as he is getting up. Nagoriyuki will try to attack immediately once he gets up, usually with one of his heavy blood slashes. If you jumped at the right moment and he attacks with one of these slashes, then you can just walk right up to him after you land and throw him before he recovers from his attack. This is the main tactic you will repeat throughout the fight. If he attacks with a light attack after getting up then you most likely will not be able to throw him once you land. In fact, he may hit you with an attack unless you block it. At this point, you will have to knock him down again and run in for the throw.

If you knockdown or throw Nagoriyuki into a corner, then the tactic is slightly altered. You will not be able to jump over Nagoriyuki. Instead, run in and jump into the corner then double jump straight up (cn_up while in the air). Nagoriyuki will get up and attack and you will land in front of him. If he does a heavy attack, then you will be able to avoid the attack and grab him when you land. You can repeat this process as long as you keep him in the corner. If he uses a light attack then, you have a fifty percent chance to grab him. Otherwise, he will hit you and you have to knock him down to start the tactic over again. Nagoriyuki tends to be a little more aggressive when he is in the corner, so if you want to throw him out of the corner you can. Just remember that your next move is to jump over him as he gets up, then walk forward for the throw.

There are two notable moments when you can just run in for the throw without knocking Nagoriyuki down. The first is when Nagoriyuki enters his blood rage state. If you can, block his initial AOE (area of effect) attack when he enters this state. It doesn't hurt you, but it will knock you to ground and you will not be able to run in for the throw. Nagoriyuki goes into an invincible recovery phase after the AOE attack. You have to run at him during this recovery phase and throw him as soon as he resumes his normal standing position. If you try to throw him to soon, you will leave yourself open to attack. The second moment is when Nagoriyuki uses his Zansetsu super move (a full screen forward slash that causes massive damage) while he is in blood rage mode. If you notice that Nagoriyuki has a super move available while he is in blood rage mode then most likely he will use it against you and you should keep back so you can block or avoid it. The best thing to do when he uses Zansetsu is to use Faultless Defense (Hold cn_X+cn_O while blocking) against it. Faultless Defense allows you block this attack without taking any damage pushing Nagoriyuki back a little at the cost of some of your tension gauge. After blocking this attack, you can run in (from full screen even!) while Nagoriyuki recovers from this attack and throw him. After a throw from either of these moments go into either of the throw tactics discussed previously.

When Nagoriyuki's health bar gets really close to turning orange, he will start to play more defensively and will not attack as soon as he gets up, but wait for an opening. Also, when he uses Zansetsu while in blood rage mode, if he has another super move available, he will do a Roman Cancel immediately after the slash and recover instantly to use another attack so you cannot run in for a throw. At this point, it is a little harder to knock him down but easier to continue to throw him once you get it a started or if you are still in the middle of it. However, you do have to change tactics a little. After the initial throw, just run at Nagoriyuki and throw him as soon as he gets into his normal standing position and repeat. If you throw him into a corner, run at him and throw him when he gets into his normal standing position. After this throw, DO NOT RUN. Just walk towards him and throw him towards the corner when he gets into his normal standing position and repeat until you defeat him.

After winning two rounds in a row against Stage 8 Nagoriyuki, you finally face Stage 9 Nagoriyuki. First, you are allowed to lose a round against Stage 9 Nagoriyuki. As long as you win the match, the trophy will unlock. Also, remember that if you lose choosing any option other than rematch will start Arcade Mode over ( you cannot change characters after a loss). Stage 9 Nagoriyuki is always in blood mode, causes a lot more damage with his attacks (ESPECIALLY Zansetsu), has a lot more health and can still use his special moves despite being in blood rage mode the whole match. However, he does lose his non-blood rage mode super move. This being said, you can still use the same tactics that you used in Stage 8 to defeat Stage 9 Nagoriyuki as he behaves the same way in every aspect. In Stage 9, Nagoriyuki begins every round going into blood rage mode with AOE attack. This means that after blocking against the AOE attack, you can go right into the throw tactic. Another advantage you gain is that Nagoriyuki will get dizzy every time you cause enough damage to completely deplete his blood rage meter. When the meter completely depletes, Nagoriyuki will get dizzy and the meter will refill immediately to full. This opens him up to a free attack. While it is tempting to use a super move, especially if Nagoriyuki is in the corner, there is a high chance that he will come out of his dizzy state and block the super move. To make it safer you should combo from a normal move into the super move. Personally, I find it better to just continue the throw tactic as the time it takes to recover from the super move as well as a screen transition puts both fighters at basically the same recovery rate and you will have to knock down Nagoriyuki to continue the throw tactic.

I know this has been a lengthy solution, but I hope this helps. Good Luck!
