The "Mysterious Challenger" is a shadow pallete version of your opponent with infinite Tension, and they appear in Survival every 10 matches. Carefully defeat your opponent with your best character.

A super easy way to do this is to do Potemkin and use his command grab cn_rightcn_B

He has a very long reach and does damage fairly quickly. Got this my first time using this character.

Be aggressive but also let the AI come to you and take your time. Good luck!

"Mysterious challenger" is the 10th Stage of Survival Mode.
The achievement will pop after wining a round in the 10th match.

Survival mode is found under Local > Survival. You have one life bar to defeat as many opponents as you can. The "mysterious challenger" the game is talking about is a shadow version of a character that will be powered up. You fight one of those characters every 10 rounds. The achievement unlocks once you beat the 10th round. The CPU is not very hard for the first 10 rounds. You can do this with any character you are good at. For the base roster, Sol Badguy has a very strong Forward + Slash (button-y.png) that you can get a lot of mileage out of. With the DLC, Elphelt will get you very far using the same strategy from Messiah Will Not Come (45G).
