Oh dear this is a terrible exploit! Terrible in the sense that many people will now get their expert achievements when they're playing on easy, I loved this game and it's a shame to see it being exploited like this, but oh well.

Yeah I liked the game two. I've beaten it twice 100% and this is for people that want to do it or just don't got the skill to do it or like me have been f.d over and need an easy way. Either way this is not cheating. Period

If you do this glitch after completing a song you get gold stars but it doesnt show as 5, i got 4 stars on free bird on expert before doing this glitch. I completed all the steps and got the Kick the Bucket Award, but when i did career songs on expert i only get 4 gold stars :/

I just did it, and had no issues whatsoever. For the people having issues with the career mode only giving four stars, did you perhaps do the glitch on Easy instead of Medium? Pretty sure it HAS to be Medium in order to get 5 stars.

EDIT: Just noticed that on any song you've already beat, it gold stars it, but the star rating doesn't change. I'll edit this again once I've finished all the songs on one difficulty to see if the achievement still unlocks or if a new band is required if you've already started working on it.

Can confirms this glitch still works.

If you have trouble timing the disconnect of your remote to trigger the glitch, I have the solution for you:
After you disconnect the first time, reconnect the remote, hit resume and immediately disconnect again. Do this a few times. You should see the note sheet board thing (Whatever it's called that displays the notes) move up a bit each time. Then resume, and voila.

You just have to get past the point where the restart menu is called up by the game I guess.

If anybody is having trouble with counting for the unplug, count exactly 5 fretlines and then as soon as the 5th one reaches where you would strum a note, unplug/turn off your controller and it should work, what I had to do

Confirming still works as of Jan 1st, 2020.

(And yes, I got the achievement 13 years after I bought the game...).

Confirming that this glitch still works (Jan 19, 2020).

It took me about 50 attempts to finally nail the timing down. I find the easiest way to get it your first try is just to disconnect your controller as late as you possibly can before the menu usually pops. I guarantee it you'll get it each time. I got it first try each time.

Thanks for posting this solution man.

Also one last important tip:

In order to get 5 stars on each song, it has to be your very first attempt at the song. That means if you attempt this even on a 4 star song it will remain at 4 stars even at gold stars, so you'll have to create an entire new expert career and knock em out one by one. I get 5 stars each song now.

Worked for me today! Got the trick set on the second attempt. Pretty easy on the wired X-plorer guitar.

this glitch is patched as of August 2023, I tried what the video did multiple times over and over and it doesn’t work.

I find it hard to believe it's been patched after all this time. Are you having trouble triggering the glitch or is it triggering and just not working?

Also, try it on a clean save. If you've already played a song, the glitch won't work. As I mentioned previously, having a score seems to make it so the score needs to be broken for it to actually work.

As of March 2024, this glitch still works. Also, even though this video uses a wired guitar controller, you can still do it with a wireless guitar but you have to take out a battery a little bit earlier so it has time to register that the controller is off.

The way i got this achievement is by saving all of my star power through the intro of the song and then tried getting as far through solo B as i could just before i was going to fail and use the star power.

If you have the star power meter full and you use the star power near the end of solo B, it should last you to the beginning of solo D. Then you should be able to get through the rest of the song easy.

Have fun trying to get this achievement

Just want to add, that if you'd like to try to get a few extra points, if you hit the two initial star power phrases, if you activate star power at the exact moment you first earn it you'll end your star power RIGHT before the next bit of star power comes your way, and you'll have just enough to max out your meter again.

I'd imagine you should get pretty good at the intro after failing over and over ;)
I was at the point where I could get 100% up to the solos, which helped me win a small local tourney :-P

I didn't have much trouble with this achievement, cause for some reason I was determined enough to beat the song on the ps2, where there was no reward ...

Yeah, I beat this song on the PS2 and the 360. I hate that that glitch exists.

My advice for any song you can't beat, specially Jordan, Freebird, TTFAT, and Raining Blood, is don't use starpower untill the meter is red. Not flashing red, by then its too late. Also alternate strum powering through Jordan helped me beat it. Once you beat the first part of solo's. your home free. Its a slice of cake after that.

TTFAT and raining blood are in GH3, why are you mentioning them for GH2?

To point out that it is a universal tip you can use across any Guitar Hero game.

I know I'm late to the party, but I believe that TTFAF is available as DLC for GH2. I may be wrong though.

If you trying to do the glitch and isn't working and if you have some skill with Guitar Hero... try use hyperspeed cheat: B, O, Y, O, B, O, Y, Y

- First, i save full star power until i almost failing, when i will fail the song, release and try play all notes. ( with hyperspeed the song its more easy to understand), i've tried 5 times without hyperspeed and fail, after get my hyperspeed i get the achievement in my first try.

Practice mode. That's all I can say. This song combines corkey sounds with odd note progression. If you can play on expert, the song is fairly simple until the solo. The solo is an insane shred that literally does NOT stop. The best advice I can give is A) Practice mode to learn the off beat progression of the solo, and B) Aquire as much Star Power as possible before the solo and save it until you ABSOLUTELY need it.
