How to unlock the Record Collector Award achievement in Guitar Hero II - Definitive Guide
Just try to get 4 stars or more on medium or better. If you have a memory card as well as a hard drive. Don't spend any cash. Keep on collecting until you have $25,000 and more. Create a copy to your memory card. Use the first save to buy the characters. Save and the achievement will unlock. Quit out of the game and replace the new save with the old save. Go to the shop again and buy the guitars and the finishes at the same time. Save and unlock both achievements. You do not need to buy any guitar that you have to unlock. Quit out of the game and replace the new save with the old save. Go to the shop again and buy the outfits. Save and the achievement will unlock. Quit out of the game and replace the new save with the old save. Go to the shop again and buy the songs. Save and the achievement will unlock.
This achievement requires that you buy all of the bonus songs from the shop, each song will set you back $550 and seen as there are 26 of them you're looking at spending $14,300 to get this achievement.
The only way to earn money in this game is to play and complete songs, the higher the difficulty the more you'll receive, the amount of stars you get also determines how much you'll get, unfortunately there is no "quick" method to acquire money, the most time efficient way is to select the difficulty you can play best on and play through the career getting money as you play, once you've saved up enough money, go to the shop and buy all the bonus songs, achievement unlocked!
You don't need to buy all the songs in one go, you can buy them in stages, it doesn't make any difference!

If memory serves, a way quick money is to play expert right off the bat (after creating the band) and just five star every song. You get $1800 if you started on expert a song.

As you progress in your career, you will be able to afford the unlock songs. They are $500 each, and there about 30 of them.
The songs are located in the Shop and can be bought from the initial start of the game.
