How to unlock the 3rd Place Ain't Bad achievement in Guitar Hero Live - Definitive Guide

When you log into Guitar Hero TV pick one of the two channels to play. When playing the songs in those channels just finish in 1st, 2nd, or 3rd at the end of the song. Do this 30 times and the achievement will unlock. It does not have to be consecutive and the on demand songs (when you play a song using a "play" token) do NOT count towards this. It has to be done in the channels where the songs are randomly selected.

What if there is no one else playing? Will you still get it? Technically you'll finish first :-D

(Online - UNOBTAINABLE DUE TO SERVER CLOSURE)

Each time you play a song in the free GHTV channels there will be a real time local leaderboard to the side of the screen of you and nine other players that the game has randomly paired you with based on your shared skill level. Depending on your performance in the song at each moment compared to the other players, you will either move up or down the ranks until the final note has been played at which point the ranks for that song will be finalised based on the overall score each player achieved.

You need to finish in third, second or first place in 30 songs to earn this trophy. However, they do not need to be consecutive nor do they need to be different songs so this will be a trophy that you unlock over time. Playing on the higher difficulties helps a lot, because there's more notes available to be hit so higher scores are more likely if you're able to perform moderately well in them and score based guitar upgrades can be purchased from the GHTV store with gold coins. See Specialist Shredder for more details.
