How to unlock the Power Crazy! achievement in Guitar Hero Live - Definitive Guide

First off there is one definite prerequisite;

Get "Hero Sections" fully upgraded 4/4 in guitar upgrades within the store (the most you get at 3/4 seems to be 4 and at 4/4 you can get as many as 12!)

...and in some cases another that you'll need to meet;

Get 6 of any unlockable hero power. By that I mean any hero power other than the initial bombs you are given (these don't seem to unlock the achievement for SOME PEOPLE, may work for you).

Once that is set up ready you can either play GHTV until a lengthy enough song comes around or pick a song from the catalog if you have a play token available. I recommend "Cry of Achilles - Alter Bridge" as it has 12/13 hero sections, even on normal. It's also more than lengthy enough to obtain and activate all 6 of the longer hero powers like dial up and down.

Just a side note - you can actually get six of a hero power that you only have say 3 of, if you save them all up at once. However, when you go to activate them the last 3 will turn into bombs so this will not work.

Good luck!

there's also a glitch that happens occasionally on 360 so you can do it with 3 hero powers leftover from the first song and then earn 3 more in the next song. not sure if this happens on xbox one or not. see my guide for more info:

This is false. I unlocked this using only bombs.

Btw, if you get a downvote, then it's not from me. I just wanted to let you know that this isn't the case so that you can change the guide.

@ParticleDuality I personally had to re-do it as the bombs didn't work but I'll change my guide slightly nevertheless.

Thanks @Tgamesmaster! I tried to do it with bombs and it did not pop but when I used an expendable power-up it worked just fine. I was on PS4 if that makes any difference.

Had to do it a few times before I got credit for it, but I just got this with bombs. Unlockable powers not required. Seems like using bombs is just a little bit glitchy is all.

It worked for me with bombs... I got it on Satellite by Rise Against, and also got about 7/8 on Strike by Trivium

@Mister Dak, @Vicious Goetz Definitely glitchy for some people but at least there is a simple alternative if needed.

@QuickMythril Interesting... I remember someone mentioning this to me before but never got round to testing it, so I have no idea if it works on the xbox one or not. I might test this on a dummy sometime, thanks for reminding me :)

There is a song added through GHTV premium today, Nobody Really Cares If You Don't Go To The Party by Courtney Barnett. I got six power ups before I was even two thirds into the song, and I only have the 3/4 upgrade. I was playing on advanced, and used the standard power (bombs).

This requires your Hero Power upgrade to be at level 4, which is the max. In total, it costs 42k coins to upgrade an upgrade completely, which will take a long time of just playing in GHTV.

After getting it to the max level, just hop into a song and make sure to hit all of the Hero Power sections and then use all of them before the song ends.

It would appear that you have to use an unlockable power.
I tried this on "Cry Achilles" and I think I got somewhere around 10-15 hero powers with my 'blow up notes' power and never got the achievement.
As soon as I swapped to the 'Double multiplier' power it popped mid song after 6 uses.

I can't remember what song I got the achievement with, but I'm pretty sure it was with the bomb power.

You can get this with your Hero Power upgraded to only level 3.

Use a free play on GH TV ( you get 3 everyday if you have 0 when you log in ) and choose the song Movies by Alien Ant Farm. there's at least 8 on Advanced difficulty so you can miss a couple and still have enough. I did it with the starting hero power which you have infinite of.

I did it again and only got 4, weird. I don't have the achievement for a level 4 upgrade so I know it's not that.

(Online - UNOBTAINABLE DUE TO SERVER CLOSURE)

Hero Powers can be used in a song on GHTV when you hit all of the Hero Power notes in a row, which are those with a slight blue colour and a lightning bolt through the centre. Once done, you can press the Hero Power button on your guitar or tilt the neck upwards to activate it. You have unlimited access to the "Bomb" Hero Power which temporarily removes the notes from the highway but all others that you unlock as you level up can only be used a finite number of times before you have to purchase new ones for an average of 350 gold coins from the store.

You will only be presented with 6 opportunities to earn the Hero Power in a single song once you have fully upgraded the Hero Power guitar skill. You can upgrade it a total of three times for 6,000, 9,000 and 15,000 gold coins respectively. Once it has been fully upgraded, enter into the free channels and keep playing songs. I found that even once the skill had been maxed out some songs only presented 5 Hero Power note sequences so it may take time before an appropriate song starts that allows you earn the trophy. If you're struggling to hit all of the note sequences to unlock the Hero Power, then you can earn the trophy on a lower difficulty such as Basic as well which makes it significantly easier.

To do this, you need to completely upgrade the Hero Sections in Guitar Upgrades, it will cost you 30,000 coins, after which you will have 6+ Hero Sections in almost all songs.
