How to unlock the Strumillionaire achievement in Guitar Hero Live - Definitive Guide

I found a faster way to do this.. If you have a reciprocating saw..

I used a reciprocating saw and wrapped the blade in duct tape so it wouldnt scratch the guitar.. then propped it up laying across the strummer and taped the trigger down on the saw.. You can get anywhere between 600 and 2000 strums per minute if you get the speed right! Just make sure this is your last achievement in case it destroys your strummer!

edit - I turned up the speed even faster than in the video and let it run for 1 hour and it got me from 26% to 35%.. so if you you set the speed perfect you could probably get this achievement done in about 10 hours starting from 0% progress.

edit - Got the achievement today after a few more hours of running it. The stummer still works too haha

check it out -

what I can't tell from the video: HOW the blade is taped to the strummer.

I pause the video but can't visualize what the connection ought to look like.

You can just put 4+ layers of duct tape around the blade so that it doesn't damage the strum bar. No need for any tape on the guitar, nor do you need to tape the strum bar to the blade in any way.

I get about 60,000 strums/hr with my saw on the lowest speed.

This is EASILY the best solution for this achievement. I went from 245000 or so to 293000 or so after 5 runs of Cry of Achilles. The first 3 runs, I was only getting about 9000/run, but the last 2, I managed to combine them for 23000. If I can keep the rhythm I got for the last 2, it should take me about 65 more runs of the song...

Only been playing here and there (maybe an hour every day or two) and I'm now up to 67%, so for those who haven't started this yet, there's still lots of time. I've seen runs of CoA net me nearly 15,000 (highest one I actually did the math on was 14,555, but I think one was around 14,800).

By shadowninja25 on 14 Nov 2018 03:43
This solution is the best! Went from 40% to 51% in an hour, on the lowest speed! Definitely cuts down the time, I should be able to finish the 360 version now because of this.

I'm having some frustrating trouble getting the speed down on my saw as it doesn't have a switch for speed. I have to squeeze the trigger just enough to get the perfect speed but it either goes too slow or too fast. I think I may finally got the right speed going and got it to stay but I'm just worried the strum bar is going to break. Seriously who's idea was it for this achievement? They should of at least made it 1 million throughout the whole game not just TV mode and then close servers 3 years later.

I only had about 24% after playing the game normally when it released, for several months and since 2 weeks ago when I went for the last cheevos (100 plays, 100 mil, etc.). I had to borrow a saw from my brother today - I can see the bar in the achievement tracker filling up as I type this :D I should get it done tomorrow :D This is the stupidest achievement, and thing (saw+me), I've ever done.

Edit: Done! My saw did ~100k an hour.

OK so I decided to pick up a cheap reciprocating saw from wal mart the other day. I know I said I wasn't gonna do it but I did anyway. Got my achievement after running it for a few hours a night for 3 days. I started with around 270,000 strums. A little trial and error and finally got the right speed. Guitar got a little scratched from it vibrating around and moving on me but it still works just fine. Thanks again for the clever idea

For this achievement, you can just be in GHTV while it's cycling through songs and just strum as fast as you can/want during the songs. You don't actually have to hit 1M strum notes. Even doing it this way, it still a decently long achievement. If I remember correctly, I would only get 1% about every 5 songs or so.

Cry Of Achilles is by far the best to do if you actually want to play the song. I did that for a while before I decided to go with the strumming like crazy method. You don't have to use a lot of plays for the amount of notes you would get for the song so that does make it a really good choice.

First of all, big thanks to Hoff 07 for coming up with the great idea of using a reciprocating saw for doing this achievement in literally no time at all!

As I don't have a reciprocating saw but still wanted to something similar without much effort, I came up with this.
Once again, I'm NOT stealing his idea, I'm giving him full credit, this is just another method that probably more people can do as I'm using an electric mixer with a little bit of cardboard and duct tape. :)

I'm getting anywhere between 500 and 1000 per minute with this method, so it's not quite as efficient as a reciprocating saw, but still good for almost no effort at all.

Enjoy!

Guide for setup:

I used a regular electric mixer, you could probably use similar household objects too.
External image

Remove one as you'll only be needing one.
External image

This is what I used to make this work: Scizzor, Duct Tape, little bit of cardboard.
External image

I then put the cardboard like this.
External image

Some duct tape.
External image

How it looks on the other side. (Use more duct tape if it seems loose)
External image

The finished product:

External image

Either simply hold it while it autostrums on your guitar or duct tape it in some way that you don't even need to hold the mixer!

Before you downvote, Please leave a comment as to why, or how I could make this solution better!

Okay so I've figured out how to get this to work for most of the songs. I've been needing to hold down a fret button to get the most out of the constant strumming, but the guitar still shuts off 2-3 times a song. Not sure why this happens but I guess I'll have to deal with it....

40% out of 100% of the achievement done so far, just a little more -____-

Only use one blade of the beater with cardboard. At first I had the cardboard go through the middle of the beater so two edges were hitting per rotation but that was too fast so I cut it down. Slowest speed, one blade. Try that if you haven't already.

I'm planning to give this a go Monday. Sitting at 22% (almost 23%). This is why I hate online achievements. Don't put online achievements if you're going to shut down servers and screw gamers over. Also, GHTV is FAR more fun to play than the regular mode. This is NOT a game I'll be playing again once it's completed.

I'm having a hard time taping the mixer in place so I don't have to hold it. I use tonnes of tape but it always shifts (due to wobbling around) after an hour or so and I have to tape it all up again.

I use gorilla tape and also put heavy books on either side of the neck if that helps
0
0
By PrimeBigTime on 25 Oct 2018 02:47
I used the books too. It's the mixer moving around on the guitar that was the problem, not the guitar itself moving. I ended up just buying a cheap reciprocating saw and followed the other solution. It's much more reliable and easier to set up, and gives faster strums (60k/hr on slowest speed). I have the 360 and XB1 versions to do so the time it will save is worth the expense. I'll just sell the saw after (I have a few tree branches to cut with it too laugh)

The other two solutions are key towards getting this in a speedy fashion: the more you strum, the better off you are. However, if you want to legitimately play songs to get your strums up, I'd suggest the following songs. The approximate number of strums are in the brackets. I'll be adding more as I come across them/they are suggested to me.

These are all on Expert and I tried to keep the strumming of hammer-ons to a minimum so the numbers could be increased by strumming every note.

Alter Bridge - Cry of Achilles [2160]
Dragonforce - Through the Fire and Flames [1780]
Judas Priest - Painkiller [1740]
System of a Down - B.Y.O.B. [1560]
Alter Bridge - Addicted to Pain [1280]
Bullet for My Valentine - Temper Temper [1220]
Beartooth - I Have a Problem [1180]
Four Year Strong - It Must Really Suck… [1140]
Killswitch Engage - In Due Time [1130]
Lamb of God - Ghost Walking [1110]
Asking Alexandria - The Final Episode… [1060]
TV on the Radio - Lazerray [1060]
Of Mice and Men - Broken Generation [1040]
The Killers - Mr. Brightside [1030]
Mastodon - High Road [1000]

(Online - UNOBTAINABLE DUE TO SERVER CLOSURE)

To unlock this trophy you need to use your strum bar at least 1 million times across all the songs you play in GHTV from the free channels, premium content and songs on demand. This is a very high number and it's possible it will be the last trophy you earn. It will pop quicker if you're able to play on higher difficulties as there's more notes and so more reason to use your strum bar but otherwise it will still unlock eventually even if you only play on basic.

If you want you can grind for this by playing songs in the free channels and ignoring the notes, instead just strumming as fast as you can throughout the song. Even with this method one million strums is an incredibly high number so it would still take a long time to earn and of course you're just using a cheap plastic guitar so there's no guaranteeing the strum bar will survive the grind. The guitars don't have a reputation for being overly durable so do this at your own risk! However it is an option available to you if you want to push through the final few strums needed for the trophy.

Perhaps the longest trophy in the game. You need to pull the pick 1 million times, you don’t have to hit the notes, you can just turn on the song and pull the pick at maximum speed, but even this way it will take about 30 hours. I gain 1% in about 15-20 minutes (~ 10,000 blows with a pick) using this method.

There is a great way to break a guitar, that is, to speed up getting this trophy.
All you need: mom's mixer, electrical tape, thick cardboard (the main thing is that it is solid) and scissors. Follow the link for detailed instructions. https://www.trueachievements.com/vie...tid=960056#vch

The above description is not entirely correct, or rather, it is very subjective. Perhaps you can immediately hit 10,000 beats in 20 minutes, but on average 20,000 beats will take about an hour, no less, because pulling the string without a break is not a very easy task. If you have already decided to fill the trophy in this way, then there is only one piece of advice - stock up on films, otherwise you will be bored for a long time. And one more thing, in each song do not forget to hit at least one note, this will give you 100-120 coins as a result, and if you play completely with a score of 0, then the game will not count this song for you at all, and you will not receive any coins .

Set the difficulty level to Basic and you won’t have any difficulty hitting that “at least one note” note.
