How to unlock the The Stranger achievement in Guitar Hero Live - Definitive Guide

Turn on lefty flip in the pause menu. It's pretty easy to get 3 stars if you can get a good streak going in one part of the song - obviously easy songs or lower difficulties will make this even simpler.

Note that you need to enter the song already in lefty mode - even if you quickly turn it on before the music starts, it won't count.

(On Demand is the mode where you use a 'Play' to pick a song of your choice. It is not the channel mode)

You can also do it on basic. I did it on basic and got the achievement.

Can someone please clarify what On Demand is? Is it the automatic lists that change every 30-60 mins? Because that's where I was. I did everything in the guide and even got 4 stars. I turned on Lefty Flip at the end of the previous song, played the full song and waited until the next song started as well, and no achievement.

No, on demand is when you use one of your 'plays' to pick a song you want from the catalog.

Ok thanks for clarifying. Assuming it works, you'll get a positive vote from me.

How do I change Lefty flip on? There's no such thing in the Options from the Main Menu. I remember I had to choose if I'm right or left handed when I started the game but can't change it anymore...

The option to change left\right handed is in the pause menu. So press one of the buttons either side of the big power one during a song.

The old trick of watching the TV screen in a mirror helps with this achievement.

Once you get a couple of the upgrades (believe I had multiplier at level 3 and note score at level 2), you can do pretty much any song on Basic and unlock this. Much easier since Basic difficulty only uses open strums.

Got it on "Famous" by Charlie XCX on Basic difficulty without any upgrades. Full combo, achievement unlocked at about 150 notes in.

I agree "Famous" by Charlie XCX is a super easy song to use to get this achievement. Go in set to Casual and you should get this to pop halfway through the song once you hit 3 stars

Simplest solution.

Play it on the lowest difficulty. Nothing but the strum bar required. Will pop once you hit three stars in middle of song.

Not sure why none of the other solutions mention this, but it's exactly how I tried it before reading your solution +1

This solution is wrong. Casual has notes in it. The lowest difficulty is called Basic.

Really? Thought the lowest was casual. Thanks for the correction.

Everything the guide above mentions is correct but an easier way to do this is if you have a mirror or picture frame in your room, play song with lefty flip on while looking at the reflection of the mirror or anything glass. You can play the song normally this way because the reflection makes the inverse of the lefty flip which will look normal for a righty even though you are actually playing with the lefty flip on.

Also make sure you are not in the middle of the "Excellent Constitution" achievement because if you don't finish in the top 5 it will reset your count for this achievement.

If you don't have a mirror you can just flip yourself upside down in your chair and look at the TV that way.

That's how I go about these "lefty flip" achievements.

(Online - UNOBTAINABLE DUE TO SERVER CLOSURE)

To play a song 'on demand' means to use one play token to play an individual song you have selected from the song list in the GHTV menu screen but before you do so, you must turn on 'lefty flip' in the options menu. This reverts the note chart to assist those who are left handed. If this play style is difficult for you then simply select a low intensity song and play on basic difficulty. On this difficulty the notes are removed and you only have to strum, effectively eliminating the difficulty of lefty flip altogether. Whichever song you do this on you should have no problem. Note: This trophy will not be earned if you turn on lefty flip once the song has already started, it must be already activated before you choose which song you want to play.

In the settings, set Lefty flip - On. This is a left-handed layout. With your right hand you press the buttons, and with your left hand you press the pick. Accordingly, the buttons change places - black ones are the bottom row, and white ones are the top. Go to Quickplay and practice, and when you get used to it and understand the meaning, go to GHTV in Music - Song Catalog and choose any song you like or whose intensity level is lower. The difficulty level can be set to Casual. One or two attempts and the trophy is yours, because three stars is very simple!

It’s even simpler, just set the difficulty level to basic and throughout the entire song you will not have any notes except open ones (these are notes where you just need to pull the pick).

You can even go through the expert, put a mirror next to it, and voila!)
