How to unlock the Shiny! achievement in GWENT: The Witcher Card Game - Definitive Guide

Edit on 01/31/2019 - the achievement is no longer bugged with the newest patch. I crafted a premium version of the new leaders and the achievement popped right away. As previously mentioned, I already had well over 200 premium cards crafted.

This achievement is currently bugged. I have well over 200 premium cards crafted and didn't unlock the achievement.

Thanks Dresden - totally agree, I already submitted a request and haven't heard anything back. Hopefully they fix it soon.

I wouldn't go as far as calling it a money sink, it'll just take awhile. It's own not transmute remember, you get them in kegs quite often (I do at least) and the best way to get it would be to just save ore and kegs until they do a guaranteed premium event.

I did mention premiums having a chance of appearing in kegs, but they don't really show up that often. Depends on your luck, I guess. However, you're right about guaranteed premium events being a person's best shot after the patch.

So, it seems rare "Premium Kegs" are a good way to build up your numbers for this achievement. All 5 cards in one of these special kegs are premium.

I believe you get 5 Premium Kegs if you own Thronebreaker. More can be earned in the rewards book, albeit in a limited number and requiring a significant investment of reward points.

CDPR disappointed me once more with that move. I would have liked more notice as I was away without my xbox during the holidays and am now stuck with currency I can't use effectively. But it's not what the disappointment is, this comes from the fact that I've noticed they sell Premium kegs. These are 5 guaranteed premium cards that can only be bought with real money. They claimed they changed the economy so that there wouldn't be so many premium around, yet if you give them money you can have as many as you want?..
Somehow feels that they themselves have now succumbed to the power of money.

If I had to guess, the player count probably dropped considerably after Homecoming came out, and premiums was the only option to squeeze money from whales without it affecting gameplay. Could be worse, I guess.

What I find extremely suspicious is how they milled our cards before Homecoming. Why was everything converted into scraps if they pulled this move a couple months later? Beta veterans should've been given the transmutation cost in dust for their premiums during the automill.

So now that is appears to be fixed - how do you actually go about earning it?

This here is just ppl complaining pre-patch, it would be useful if it could be updated.

This is my last achv since a long time now, im checking almost everyday for a premium kegs event (not buying with real money). It seems they dont do it anymore right ?
When i started the game they were doing it, but i think its over..

I'm worried right now. It takes sooooo long to get 150 premium cards now. There are no events anymore, it takes a big amount of time to earn kegs and ressources to craft a premium card and they only sell 40 premium kegs in store for 85€. That's expensive as hell. But knowing that the game will be shut down in some months, I'm thinking more and more about buying those 40 kegs before they take this item down or the game itself...

Another issue is the change to Gwent economy coming January 2nd. After that date, it will no longer be possible to craft premium cards. Only through transmutation and from kegs.

Meteorite powder is a vanity currency and extremely slow to collect with natural play. Meaning, this achievement effectively becomes a money sink for new players or any players after January 2nd. (Unless they lower the requirement down from 150.)

The one question I have is this: for those who have crafted 150+ premium cards in December, will this achievement retroactively unlock after the patch?

Tips :
1 - Most important : there is sometimes special events when each keg contains at least one premium card. Try to spare ore for these events.

2 - With your reward points, unlock the rewards with "premium" kegs for each faction leader => 1 keg per leader => 5 premium cards => 20 premium cards per faction => 100 in the whole game. Depending on the leader, you need 20-25 reward points to unlock a premium keg. So it's quite long.

3 - Focus on choosing premium cards from normal kegs, except if there is an other card you absolutely want. I wasn't aware of this at the beginning of the game. This "spawns" occur rarely (2-5% maybe), so don't be discouraged if you don't have premium cards from normal kegs.

4 - Basically, you also can craft premium cards, but it very expensive. I strongly advise to do that only if you just need the last few cards to unlock the achievement. Focus on cheap cards, which cost 20 scrap & 100 meteorites. You can of course buy meteorite to speed up the process, but it's not needed with patience.

5 - Leaders unlocked through the reward tree are considered as premium cards as well.

So glad theres a more recent guide for this achievement but two things is not right.

Number 1-Literally read today they are done with premium keg weekends cause it was pointless for CDPR cause people would just stock pile their kegs for these events.

number 2- I have lots of leaders and whenever i get one i check the tracker and it doesnt go up so they might not count

There are no leaders anymore. They got replaced by skins now and skins won't count towards this achievement anymore

On January 2, 2019, new rules for the gwent economy were introduced; now the premium version of the card can only be obtained by transforming the non-premium version using meteorite dust, but it is no longer possible to create it using four times the number of scraps! All that remains are barrels and weeks of premium cards in them.

Leader cards are considered, otherwise, we save up our feathers, stock up to capacity with everything we can and wait for the promotion.
