How to unlock the River Denizens achievement in Hades - Definitive Guide
You need to catch at least one fish from the following regions of the game:
- Tartarus
- Asphodel
- Elysium
- Temple of Styx
and
Fish are rarely found in Chaos but they are not needed for this achievement.
-------
To get the fishing rod you must have previously reached the Temple of Styx (4th region) and used the House Contractor to construct “Fountain Chamber, Tartarus” and “Fated List of Minor Prophecies”. You may then purchase the "Rod of Fishing" for 1 Diamond.
On future escape attempts look for small glowing white patches in the water/lava. There will also be a subtle chime noise once each room is cleared to indicate the presence of a fishing spot somewhere nearby.
Press to start fishing and ignore the gentle float bobbing. You are waiting for a big flash (could be almost instant or after a few seconds) then quickly press again to catch your fish. I find it helps to keep your gaze slightly above the float's position.
The rarity of the catch depends on how quickly you can react to the flash, with rarer fish being worth more materials when you trade them to the Chef in the Lounge:
0s - 0.34s is a perfect catch - 50/50 chance of legendary or rare fish.
0.35s - 0.68s is a good catch - 50/50 chance of rare or common fish.
0.69s+ is a failed catch.
- Tartarus
- Asphodel
- Elysium
- Temple of Styx

Just to add a few runs after you first purchase the fishing rod, Poseidon will give (force 😂) you to take a legendary boon from him that gives a 20% every room to spawn a fish.
If you can take the run all the way through, you can more than likely swoop at least 1 fish per floor, and in the post run.

The last one I needed was your spoiler one, it did not unlock the moment I caught it but when I was sent back.

Requirements: Must have purchased the "Fountain Chamber, Tartarus" and "Fated List of Minor Prophecies" jobs from the House Contractor. Must complete 1 full run.
To be able to fish, you'll need a fishing rod of course! To purchase the Fishing Rod, you'll first need to have reached the Temple of the Styx, the 4th biome, at least once. Once you've gotten there and met the requirements above, the "Rod of Fishing" job will appear in the House Contractor's Work Orders page for 1 Diamond.
Once you purchase the Fishing Rod from the House Contractor, fishing spots will begin randomly spawning during your runs, which will appear as glowing spots to interact with. Approach any spot and press to cast your line. Then just wait for the bobble to go completely underwater, then press again to reel it in. It might bob a few times, so make sure it has gone all the way under before you try to reel it in, or you'll lose it.
There's no way to tell if or when a fishing spot will spawn, except when purchasing the "Skeletal Lure" item from the Well of Charon, guaranteeing one will spawn in the next chamber that contains water.
For this trophy, you'll just need to catch 1 fish from each of 4 regions in the game: Tartarus, Asphodel, Elysium, and Greece. (For some reason, it seems that the Temple of Styx isn't included in this list, but I can't verify whether it doesn't count or if they're counting it along with Greece.) Greece is the final region of the game, which is the surface. Prior to completing the story campaign (successfully escaping 10 times), when you reach the surface, there are a few lakes and two rivers that can have fishing spots. Once you've finished the story however, those spots will become inaccessible. After that point, the 3 small pools of water in the final boss room will then become Greece's only possible fishing points, so make sure you keep an eye open for fishing spots there before leaving. Note: Spots spawning in the final boss room seem to be quite rare, so try to get this trophy before you complete the main story.
Once you have the fish, you can hand them in to the Chef in the Lounge for a reward. What you get for them depends on how many you hand him at once. I recommend you save your fish until you've accumulated at least a dozen before you hand them in. You'll get a lot of Diamonds, Ambrosias, Titan Bloods, etc. that way. Once I even got 400 Gemstones for one turn-in.
Side note: Also, once you've caught 5 Fish and have purchased at least 24 different jobs from the House Contractor, you can purchase the "Aquarium, Cubical" item from the Contractor's Lounge page for 460 Gemstones. This doesn't really do anything special; interacting with it tells you how many fish you've caught overall. There's no real benefit for having this though, as it's just decor, really.
