How to unlock the Alas, Poor Yorick achievement in Halo 3 - Definitive Guide
Despite the achievement's description say that you must get this on a Legendary map, you can actually get this on Mythic maps as well. I got these achievement the other day while playing an Oddball match on Heretic (which is the new version of Midship from Halo 2).
Once you have the ball, melee and kill 3 other players to get this achievement.

If you don't feel like waiting for the 7 on 7 or the double exp weekend events, go play Rumble Pit, Multi Team, or Social Skirmish. I recommend playing Rumble Pit because you can just leave if you do not get odd ball and you do NOT get a penalty.
When you do get odd ball, keep trying to get it, and if it is possible, try and knock it off the map when everyone is fighting for it and grab it when it is placed back in the middle. This makes it much easier to stay alive and try and funnel everyone towards you. It really should not take too many attempts if this happens. I got 2 melee kills after someone threw it over, and my 3rd and last kill came from me throwing constant grenades at it till i saw my chance to grab it.
The below link shows a list of all the matchmaking choices and the game types played in each.

Is it possible to play Avalanche Blackout or ghost town if you haven't got mythic 1 and 2?

I honestly don't know. I borrowed the DLC from a friend, sorry!

This can be gotten on Legendary, Mythic 1, or Mythic 2 maps. In most Social Playlists and Lone Wolves I believe, the oddball is set to Instant Kill. It is easiest in the Double Exp Playlist 3-ball. When you have the ball, there will be an tag on you, so have your allies back you up. Easy on maps with cutoff points that they will funnel through.

Do you know if there is a place online where you can see future double exp playlists, like what next week will be and so on?

They have it on the Bungie website.

7 on the 7th... It may come around once a month, but this playlist provides an excellent chance to get it. Get a freind or two to help you, and you're set.
Occasionally Bungie will come out with a double exp weekend specifically for oddball. When this happens you can get this achievement very quickly just by playing a few games of that. If that is not out, then simply play DLC slayer, Social slayer, or Free-for-all(aka Lone Wolves) and just hope you get an oddball game type. When you do, just hide and wait for someone to walk around the corner. After a few tries you should get it.
This is MUCH easier to do on EXP events and 7 on 7th playlists. Usually, it is rare to find an Oddball match on these maps. I spent 5 hours and finally found one, which got me the achievement.
In the match, go for ONLY the Oddball. Don't worry about K/D or any type of teamkill. It doesn't matter (as long as the teammate doesn't kick you). That ball is the most important thing for you at the moment. Once you have the ball, try to get a bubble shield. Throw up the Bubble shield and hide in it. Hopefully, the enemies will come at you for it. Just keep killing them with the ball. It's a one hit KO.
Also, Mythic Maps DO count for this achievement. Meaning that you can get this achievement on any of the Legendary or Mythic maps.

Once you get into the match grab the skull as soon as possible and try and get your hands on a bubble shield everyone will try and run in to kill you but you get one hit kills with the skull so should get the achievement in no time this also an easy way to win the match.
I got this on Citadel with the playlist Ranked Team Doubles. I like doing the Oddball on this playlist because there are less people fighting for the ball and your team mate can help you distract the other players. Basically, what we did was one person run and get the ball, an the other player goes for the other team to keep them getting the ball. If one person spawns closer to the ball he will go defend the ball until the player that is trying to get the achievement picks it up, then we switch to distraction mode.
This, and all DLC achievements can be done in the Team Mythic playlist (except the Delicious Brains and Zombie Repeller, which must be done in the Infection playlist, Tank Dropper and collecting the skulls, which must be done in Forge mode, or Killtacular which requires 5 opponents, either in a free-for-all or Big Team playlist). All DLC achievements will unlock on maps from later map packs.
Team Mythic requires 6 players, and maxes out at 8 players. You'll have to get 2 players together with 4 controllers each, 8 players, or somewhere in between. If you can't get 8 players and/or guests, you can do this with only 6; however, you may need to put up with randoms, but they will likely be willing to help. After all, who would still be playing this mode unless they were achievement hunting.
You'll need a Team Oddball game type. Other than that, I think this is a pretty straight forward achievement.

If you find an Oddball match, chances are you will get at least three melee kills with the oddball. The ball kills are varied. Sometimes they are instant and sometimes it takes more than two hits. This is unexplored as yet, but it may matter where you hit the player.
