How to unlock the Demon achievement in Halo 3 - Definitive Guide

The easiest solution for me:

- Use normal difficulty
- Activate score
- Free for all option
- Turn on some skulls (Tough Luck, Fog, Famine)
- Join with Second controller (this is the tip)

The second control is only for when you die. When this happens you will respawn close to second player saving time instead at the last checkpoint. With this you will win bonus time multiplier.

Thanks for RIPH Conclave (rest in peace)

For some reason, I never attempted to do score mode on Halo but this made it a breeze. 8 years later and still a great solution. :)

Was not paying attention to time. Just activated 5 skulls: Tough Luck, Catch, Fog, Famine and Thunderstorm. Played on normal and got 22,000 points easily by just playing through the mission. Died like 3-4 times. These skulls really don't make it harder as enemies die easily on normal difficulty and there is plenty of ammo. Will use this strategy for the remaining missions.

This mission is crows nest.

Turn on a few skulls that you feel comfortable playing with then either play on normal if you are by yourself.
An excellent combo is a plasma pistol overcharge then switch to the battle rifle. Then kill off any grunts.
When evacuating the base a swarm of drones will fly over you, kill them all with the grunts quickly. Just finish the level in time for the 3x bonus.

New to the game...how do you track your score or see your progress?

There is a setting in the pregame lobby where you can switch the game mode into scoring, team or free-for-all. FFA makes more sense as you can see your own score necessary for the achievement.

An important thing to note is that your score during the game includes your skull multipliers. So the only thing you will get at the end of the game in addition is the time bonus.

So if you have lost a great deal of your time bonus, then don't continue to play the level thinking there is more bonuses at the end, because there is not.

It is your style of play that determines the skulls you activate. My best advice is to play on Normal. The reasoning behind this is that where Legendary will net you points, you have a better chance of hitting the time bonus on Normal, and you can have more skulls on at once and it still will not be a big deal. Thus more bonus points.

Start with three or four skulls on, and see how you do? If it is too hard, then start over and remove a skull.

One the other hand, if you can net the required amount of points, then the time means nothing. On Tsavo Highway for instance, I hit the 15,000 points in game. So I just jumped in a ghost and skiddaddled to the end (running through the rest of the action), and got the achievement.

And don't be afraid to die a few times, on Normal you don't lose that many points. Of course on Normal you shouldn't die all that much either. Time is the biggest bonus, try for that before you waste time lining up every headshot and multi-kill.

Good Luck!

For this achievement you'll need to earn at least 15,000 scoring points on the second mission of the Campaign, Crow's Nest. This can be done solo or with a few buddies. (I got all mine solo and using the method below)

First you'll need to enable either Free-For-All or cooperative scoring from the campaign options. Then select the following for quickest results:

Normal Difficulty
Catch Skull - (1.00 multiplier)
Fog Skull - (1.00 Multiplier)
Famine Skull - (1.00 Multiplier)

So you'll be playing on Normal difficulty with enemies chucking nades alot, no Mini-Map, and ammo pick-ups are scarce. However, being on Normal difficulty will make this a cakewalk. And having these 3 skulls on will start your kill scoring at a x3 Multiplier, so as long as you finish the mission within a reasonable time, and die little-to-no times you'll have more than enough points to pop your achievement!
