How to unlock the Beating Up the Beat achievement in Halo 4 - Definitive Guide
With the simplicity of this achievement I'm not sure this actually needs a guide. But nonetheless.. this requires you obtain 5 melee kills in one match. A melee kill can be a beat down or an assassination. Weapons that count as melee kills are the Gravity Hammer and the energy sword. The map this can be obtained on are: Perdition, Outcast, and Daybreak. Perdition is the smallest of the three and has the least amount of vehicles so it would be the best map to achieve the beat downs on. Once you melee 5 enemies, the achievement will unlock immediately netting you 30 gamerscore and a nice achievement to put in trophy case.

The best way to do this one is to hope for an Extraction game and sneak around off radar near a fresh Objective. The enemy has to stand still to arm it and you'll see them coming, so charge in with a Plasma Pistol Flash and knock them out. It can be hard to get Melee kills on large maps so that was my best strategy at least.

Yeah that was why I said that Perdition was probably the best choice because it is the smallest of the three.

You can actually obtain this achievement and not own the dlc. Playing on a forge island map online and doing the requirements will unlock the achievement for you. I got this by playing on a forge island map in the Flood Playlist

The easiest way to get this achievement is to play Swat on Perdition. Since there isn't any shields, any melee will be a one hit kill. Perdition is a good map to get this on as it isn't too large.
This should come naturally during any of your matches, but the five beat downs must be done in one match. If you favor the BR/DMR, use its stopping power to strip the enemy's shield away, allowing you to move in for a deadly melee attack. If you favor close quarter weapons such as the Assault Rifle or Suppressor, you can engage your enemies in a CQC firefight, which will allow you to unload half the clip into them before beating them down. Each beat down must be from the front or side. If you beat down an enemy from behind, it will not count towards the achievement.
