Got significant air in the Warthog at midnight in mission 2.

How to unlock the Midnight Launch achievement in Halo 4 - Definitive Guide

You have two options to get this achievement, the online and offline way.

Offline:
Unplug your Ethernet cord or wireless adapter and go to your Xbox settings. Set the time to 11:55 PM, and load up the game. Start the 2nd mission on any difficulty, and get into a warthog. Now wait for your Xbox to display 11:59 PM and wait until the clock changes exactly to midnight. Once this happens, you have about a minute to grab some air and you will gain the achievement.

Online:
While on Xbox Live, sign into Halo 4 around 11:55 PM. Now follow the instructions from above to gain the achievement. It is also possible to change timezones to your advantage, for this achievement. You can try from a wide range, until you get something near midnight.

I waited for about a half hour or so to get it midnight in real time and on the moment I forgot how to give gas... Yeah, I played a lot of race games since Halo Reach ;) At the end I decided to get the achievement offline so I didn't have to wait for another 24 hours. Popped at the first jump :)

I dont even get why people take this the offline way. first of you lose it as soon as you recover your gamertag (something everyone has to do at some point) and secondly, its really really weak and unprofessional to have achievements without the online stamp and also the easiest way for MS to spot a cheater.
it clearly states in the agreement that you are not allowed to tamper with either the hard or software to get an achievement. that includes the clock.

this is the games best achievement i think, im about to take it right now! (11:50pm in sweden as i write this)

@SRUSHT I'm 90% sure you don't lose offline achievements when you recover your gamertag if you've connected to Live since then and synced it to the Live servers.

I guess the story behind this achievement is that this game was launched at midnight in every country around the world. Most things are released later in New Zealand but this time they were one of the first to get Halo 4 - thanks Microsoft :D

One thing to add to the guide. If you want the Time Stamp (online record) and your near the top of the hour change your Time Zone in the dash board forward or back to the hour required. . I did this last night that way

@ SRUSHT - Of all the levels of wrong there can be, you've succeeded on every single one. I've actually become less intelligent through reading your drivel. You only lose your achievements earned offline if you haven't connected to LIVE since earning them. Whenever you connect to LIVE your Gamertag will synchronise with Microsoft's database, updating your profile. If you recover your Gamertag without signing in to LIVE first, you will recover the last Gamertag that was updated with Microsoft.

Microsoft have previously stated that you can "glitch" achievements in single player, as it does not mess with another gamer. Of course you lose the satisfaction of earning it at the correct time in your part of the world, but it's not really a big deal if you aren't playing at midnight, is it? You will get banned for unlocking achievements through indirect means, such as a program on your PC, but not through disconnecting from Xbox LIVE to change your time.

If you want to complain about something, and you're ready to throw "facts" in to your argument, then please make sure your facts are factual, otherwise you will just look a bit silly in front of everyone.

Okay so wait until 11:59, and THEN wait until 12:00, got it! Would it help if I waited until 11:58 first, or is that just overkill?

Way easier to launch yourself off the cliff, and if you somehow go off too early, you get respawned along with the warthog

To add to everyone else's solutions, you can also just drive off the edge of the cliff to get the achievement. You don't need to go off a jump and land it.

Here's how I did it. Since I like to have a date stamp on my achievements I changed the time zone on my console. Then booted up the game while still connected to Live and got to the points in the videos. I live in Central U.S. time zone and I selected Berlin. It was 4:55pm my time when I did it, but it was 11:55pm there. I waited until my berlin 360 said it was 12:00am and did the jump. Pop. Achievement unlocked. Now the date stamp says it's tomorrow when I did it today. Hope this helps.

You get this achievement at the start of mission 2 when you get the warthog. Then head to the area with a long tunnel near the edge of the cliff. This will be the first ramp to jump. WARNING: This will only unlock at 00:00 real time, As soon as it hits this exact time put your foot on the gas and jump the gap and BOOM!! Your achievement is unlocked. I hope this helped and if u negative vote this solution please let me know why.

Simply wait until about 11:55 and hop into the second mission (Requiem). This is done right in the beginning of the level. You'll find a warthog just up ahead of the start. All you have to do is wait until it's 12 and make a jump. Heres my video showing the achievement.

Here is my guide form my channel, Toslow Gaming. Either you stay up or take my way. Change your date and time then play the mission Requiem. Make sure your time is about elven fifty-eight or close. Then when it hits twelve P.M.! Drive like hell to the launch area.

JUST DRIVE OFF THE EDGE!!!!!!

(Just to reiterate since most people seemed to miss Hoogs88's post.)

When it hits midnight (via the methods above), simply hop in the first warthog in Mission 2 and drive right off the ledge to your right.

No needing to fly down the path and time the jump right. Drive off the edge and kill yourself. You'll get the achievement.

Wait till midnight or change time on your Xbox 360 and then do a big jump in a Warthog during first part of the Requiem mission.

In Mission 2 get HUGE air on midnight exactly!!! Change your clock in the time zone in your console settings and wait until 12:00 am and hit the sweet jump with as much grace as I did.

06 Nov 2012 11:36

Go to your Xbox 360 Dashboard, then System Settings, then Console settings, then Clock, then Date and Time, and set the time anywhere from 11:50 - 11:55 PM, (to give you enough time to load into the game). Then start up Mission 2, and make it to the Warthog, and wait until exactly 12:00 AM before attempting the jump

This will NOT WORK if you jump at 12:01 AM or 11:59 PM. It MUST BE DONE AT 12:00 AM.

In my video i show you where you can jump your warthog but this must be done at midnight and you should load mission 2 around 11:55 just to be on the safe side. My video does have commentary.

This achievement takes place on the 2nd mission and requires you to get some air in the Warthog at midnight. You have a one minute to get this achievement done so, I suggest loading up the level about 5-10 minutes early and getting your warthog ready. Hit your Xbox button to check the time and right when it hits midnight take off in the warthog, get some air and the achievement will unlock. Yes you can change the time and date on your Xbox, but sometime this causes a weird time stamp problem tying to the achievement and you may have to do things like recover your gamertag to get the achievement to show up. I suggest staying up late one night and getting the achievement to prevent any problems it will only take a few minutes anyways.

Midnight Launch - 20G (Original Achievement)

Difficulty: 1/10

You can get this Achievement Offline or Online.

If you choose Online, then you must wait until about 11:50 at night (make sure it says that on your Xbox when you press the Menu button!), then load up Halo 4 and the 2nd mission in the Campaign "Requiem". You will want to skip the cutscene and run straight forward and through the tunnel to get to daylight. Once here run forward to the cliff and to the left to find an over turned Warthog in the middle of the path. Flip it over and get in. Now you'll want to drive along the path until you find a tunnel in the wall with a ramp in the entrance. Get a nice distance away from the ramp and press the Menu Button. From here simply wait until your Xbox says it's Midnight and get back into the game. You'll want to go as fast as you can and fly off the ramp, you'll get the Achievement when you land.

If you chose to get the Achievement Offline, then you'll need to remove your Xbox from the internet and force the time to be 11:50 through the System Settings. (You cant reconnect to the Internet or else your Xbox will auto correct the time!) Once you have the time set up, simply follow the directions above and the Achievement is yours. However if you get it Offline, you will not get the Time Stamp stating what day you got the Achievement, but if you're fine with that then by all means, go for it.

Campaign Mission 2 'Requiem' specific. Online not required. Can be obtained on Easy+.
Use 'Mission Select' after initial Campaign playthrough if missed.

Be the driver in a Warthog and achieve significant air when your console time is at 12:00 am. Only the Driver will unlock the achievement if playing Co-op through XboxLIVE. It's been reported that the achievement may take a couple seconds to unlock.

If 12:00 am has passed you can alter the console's time by either method

  • Online - "change your timezone to one that's about to strike midnight so you can stay on LIVE and put a timestamp on the achievement."
  • Offline - "set your console's clock to 23:50 (to be safe), then load up Mission 2: Requiem."

"Rush through the start of the mission (no enemies), until you reach the Warthog. Press your 360 Guide Button and wait for the time to hit 12am (midnight). Drive the Warthog down the dirt track" hitting jump after jump until the achievement unlocks.
