How to unlock the Not Some Recruit Anymore achievement in Halo 4 - Definitive Guide

The best way to do this achievement is to aim to complete the challenges found in your Spartan hub (this commonly starts on your loadout's and name etc so flick up on LS). Here you can see your progress towards challenges and offer huge amounts of XP. There are challenges for the campaign/multiplayer and the spartan ops, so mix and match. You will eventually reach this in time so keep going. It shouldn't take long at all, probably for most gamers it will be achieved in the first hour or so and will be achieved through playing 3 or 4 online games.

As SeraphimNeeded has noticed in his experience: 'if you somehow end up passing by rank 5, like I did using bonus XP from Waypoint, then you'll need to earn another level naturally before the achievement unlocks.' Hopefully this will put more people at ease

I'd highly recommend adding that if you somehow end up passing by rank 5, like I did using bonus XP from Waypoint, then you'll need to earn another level naturally before the achievement unlocks. This put me into a panic for a little bit and couldn't seem to find anyone who could say what was going on.

Thanks a lot. I did the same thing with the Waypoint XP and got a bit worried also.

I guess many people come here not because they dont know how to get to level five but because of the waypoint codes. And that confirmaion is very helpful indeed.

This Popped for me after completing the first level of the campaign. so not to tricky also you gain XP from all games modes so you should get this with no real effort.

***Completing the coming of the dawn which is the first Campaign Weekly Challenge nets you 4750xp.

This is a fairly easy achievement to get as you get XP from all the game moves, so if you wanna boost for this in custom games then you can do that.

You can't get any XP from playing the campaign itself.

Coming in hot w/ an updated 2023 guide since I had to do some digging to figure out the best way to do this these days. At first I was doing small matches w/ a 2nd controller but the XP gains were so minimal I stopped...

Now that everything is offline the quickest way I've seen to level up is to do the following
1. Open up War Games > Custom > Infinity Slayer (or similar)
2. Set the time limit to 10m - no more no less due to some XP cap (trusting source)
3. Wait out the 10m timer

You'll get between 500 - ~1200 XP (details in guide) per match.
  • I also tried w/ using a second controller and getting a few kills but it was too much work and the gains were negligible
  • there may be a daily cap - I stopped getting XP after a bit
