How to unlock the Cartographer achievement in Halo 5: Forge - Definitive Guide

Under the Forge tab in the main menu select build, select any map, once it loads click the little floppy disc icon that's part of the UI in the top left, or pause the game and save the map.

The achievement didn't pop. My laptop shouldn't be able to play this and the game crashes 100% of the time, but I was able to save and nothing popped. I saved multiple times. The only thing I can think would be to select Save As instead of just Save.

This will come naturally along with any other Forge achivement.

In Forge, change anything then simply hit ESC then save.
