How to unlock the Double Stuff achievement in Halo 5: Guardians - Definitive Guide

This achievement can be done in solo or coop and must be done on Heroic.

If you're attempting this solo you can find a Rocket Launcher just in front of the Mantis then you can stand in between the Epsilon and Delta Core with a clear line of sight at both cores. Fire the first rocket at Epsilon and the second at Delta.

Just had a look and realised I’ve been playing with scoring on which apparently disables that save feature which would explain why I’ve not noticed it. I’ll try it again with it off so I can save thanks. Hopefully be less annoying to get now.

found the spot, however doing it on easy doesn't work, it has to be on heroic as it didn't unlock for me on easy.

Can confirm that it did not unlock on easy difficulty for me either. Unknown if they updated it already or if my timing was off ( I did try multiple times). Otherwise great guide.

I'd recommend saving the checkpoint just before you start firing your rockets, as if you destroy one and don't get the other for whatever reason you'll instantly get a new checkpoint and have to redo the mission up until that point again... Like me -_-

Some clarification on where 'the spot' is would be nice. I find it dubious that it's left out of your video. Is it a glitch spot?

Worked great. Wipe out most of the enemies in the entire area and send your Team to any other Core and let them destroy it. In the meantime, walk to the spot shown in the video and you receive a perfect checkpoint. Btw this is not a glitch spot, see around and you will find it, start from epsilon core up the hills until you cant get any further now look right ;)

Got it. Might be worth mentioning in the solution:

The video is clearly on easy difficulty. What I did was take the Mantis, clear out both core areas (just get your squad to dick around in the middle and stay out of the way), then use the Mantis machine gun to damage both cores until they are glowing angry red. Then position yourself in the spot from the video and do as he did. Otherwise the rockets don't do nearly enough damage on their own.

Whatever I do, they never blow up at the same time. There's constantly one that just decides to not blow up, even if both are bright red before I fire.

I weaken both and then each got one rocket, got it first try.

Definitely need to wear them down first before trying to destroy them with rockets. They don't do that much damage on Heroic.

This is a good solo method but the checkpoints are a huge pain if it doesn't work so I cleared all the enemies around the cores, made them red, then I went to the other side of the map destroyed that grav core while in a ghost. That gives you a checkpoint and all you have to do is ride over in your ghost and fire the rockets if it doesn't pop 2 seconds to try again!

Adding on to what Jay and others have said, it's best to take out majority of the enemies first and get those two cores red. Taking out a core gives an automatic checkpoint so be fully prepared when taking any out, especially the two you'll be taking out for the achievement.

What I did is have Osiris finish off one while I waited for the confirmation to lob one direct rocket into the Delta core. Popped just fine. Last time I got everything perfectly in place, I missed the rockets on one of them without realizing it so I had to start from the very beginning. It's best not to risk it, so don't be afraid to order your teammates to take out one of them while you handle the second one.

Epsilon will blow up in 1 regardless of if I've damaged or not but Delta won't blow up even when damaged to red from 1.... really irritating because you have to restart whole mission...

Why not just save a checkpoint Assassin?

By EarthboundX on 08 Jun 2020 00:37
How do you do that? The second one core goes it makes a new checkpoint.

Halo 5 lets you save 3 checkpoints, that you can load from the main menu.

Think of them like save states I guess.

I am sad to say that Pingy's video didn't work for me on Easy Difficulty, but I used 2 Mantis to destroy 2 Delta Core.

This video guide is perfect. I did this on heroic. Used the Binary rifle and rocket launcher. Shot the core 3 times each with the binary rifle. Then rocket to kill it as in the video

Mission 15 - Guardians
Difficulty: Heroic

Partway through the level you will reach a section where you must destroy many energy cores which are large blue balls with moving rings around them. You must destroy two within a 5 second window, and it is recommended that you do it using the first one you encounter and the next one up the hill to the left of that one. Kill all of the nearby enemies, and damage them until they are red. Now split up your team into 2 groups, and coordinate them to be destroyed at the same time. If you are in co-op, just time in, but if you are doing it solo, command the AI to destroy the core and immediately destroy the yours as the other one is destroyed. If you fail, reload the checkpoint.

Use a ground pound on the core to also unlock:

My core had to explode less than two seconds after theirs to pop the achievement. FYI, it took five fuel rod shots to take the core to critical and the sixth destroyed it. Also to help with retries, I cleared all the enemies from Beta and Gamma then destroyed Epsilon in order to get a checkpoint.

I followed the rocket launcher guide and it didn't work. The rockets didn't destroy the cores. So I used the binary rifles from the enemies killed on the ridge. I shot each core three times with the binary rifle to weaken them, then shot one rocket on each core. It worked!!!

I did this on my Legendary run, while playing solo and it was very easy to accomplish.

Since there are tons of videos here already, I'll describe the idea of what needs to be done.

After cleaning the area out of enemies on the two farthest cores from the way you first came from, start shooting - I used the Mantis' (giant robot) machine gun - the core globe until it glows purple and then carefully shoot a little more until it becomes red, then stop. Go to the other core close by and do the same thing.

Then, position/send your team back to the first one and highlight it (cn_up) so that they'll start shooting it while you go and do the same on the other one. The explosions should happen almost simultaneously and it shall be good enough for the achievement to unlock.

Like Irvinraw , I also used a beam rifle, but first weakened each Delta and Epsilon cores with the Mantis until each was a bright red. Once in position where you can see both cores (as shown in some of the videos above), one shot at each core with the beam rifle destroyed them both. I recommend creating a checkpoint right before attempting to destroy them just in case something goes wrong. I did this by destroying Beta core with the Mantis first, then zipping back to into position using the Ghost near Beta core.

This achievement must be done on the Heroic difficulty level or higher.

When attempting this achievement in a solo playthrough of the mission, you'll need to pick up the Rocket Launcher located just ahead of the Mantis near Alpha Core. With the weapon in hand, make your way through the valley and position yourself on the ledge that overlooks Delta Core. From here, you can turn around 180 degrees and see Epsilon Core in the far distance. Zooming in with your Rocket Launcher, fire a clear shot at Epsilon Core and then quickly turn around and fire a rocket down at Delta Core. If timed correctly, the achievement will unlock without fault.

If you're going for this achievement during a Co-Op playthrough, it'll be much easier to simply communicate with your partner as you both work on destroying two different cores with similar firepower (Ghosts, Ground Pounds, Fuel Rod Cannons, etc.). Either way, you can refer to the video guide below, provided by Pingy, for a visual representation of the solo method.
