How to unlock the All According to Plan... achievement in Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary - Definitive Guide

EDIT #2: It appears the easiest way to do this is to turn on the bandana skull (unlimited ammo) and the boom skull (explosions have bigger radius) and chuck grenades over the wall to the left at the beginning of the level. So just chuck grenades over that wall until you get all of the enemies, or you can try my method below. Credit goes to Robert m b for figuring this out

Some people are having a hard time with this achievement, and I'm suspecting that it might be glitched. It may take you a few tries but as long as you are cautious and patient you will eventually unlock it. If you still can't get it, try playing with a friend in co-op to see if that makes things easier.

It's best to put the game on easy, that way all of the enemies can be killed with one shot. After that, just follow the steps in the video, and you shouldn't have much trouble. The key is to keep your distance. These are the ten enemies:

1 Elite
2 Jackels
3 Grunts walking around or in a gunner seat
4 Grunts sleeping

Once you have taken out all of the enemies on the right side, hug the wall on the right, and slowly creep up to take out the remaining enemies on the left (usually it's just two grunts, with one in a turret in the top left hand corner).

The guy in the video misses a sleeping grunt on the right side, so make sure you get him before walking out. As soon as you shoot the last enemy, the achievement will unlock (though I've heard it's been buggy for some people).

If you are having some trouble, try backing all the way up after each kill, just to make sure you are out of sight. Then wait around five seconds before you move back up again.

When I first attempted this achievement I kept on going to the ridge on the right side that overlooks the area, and I never got more than 1-2 kills before I was spotted. But like I said if you follow the video you shouldn't have too much trouble.

****EDIT: If the covenant start running around, that does not mean they have detected you. Only when they start shooting, or if you miss a shot and they look right at you. Thanks to JPG30 and FA Aras Cade for pointing that out****

This is not my video by the way, credit goes to ADRRGamingUK on youtube

took me a few tries, they seemed to always hear the sniper bullet and run off, in fact when i got the achievement the grunts were running about, plus the elite was running about so i thought i had messed it up, when i got to the last grunt on the right in the hidden part on the video (last grunt killed) he was there so i killed him above and the achievement popped. i think it's down more to luck as there is no real indication as to if u have been detected or not. they should have added a voice to say if u had been spotted to make it easier.

I think it's when they start shooting, but thanks for pointing that out

you need a skull to do this with?

No, you don't need a skull

This took me like 50 tries with help from someone else. It seems a little glitchy. We though we did it perfect 80% of the tries.

Mercy it seems like a lot of people are having trouble.... I don't know what else to add to my solution though, besides to suggest playing co op like you did. Sorry my guide didn't help you out that much.

Well, actually it's not just when they start shooting. If you miss and they look right at you, whether or not they shoot, it counts as being detected.

Nice guide but i found it easier to put on skull for unlimited ammo and just throw grenades over the high wall you face when you get out of the pelican. you can hear the grunt shout gernades then BOOM.

Thanks robert, I don't think I'm gonna edit my solutions anymore but that's a good idea

Robert's solution was way easier than sniping all those dudes. just chuck grenades over the wall and boom no more enemies and they never see you. that was my problem I had tried it 10 different times but one of them saw me but they never started shooting. I got it first time with robert's suggestion.

I kept failing this achievement and I couldn't figure out why. I had to resort to trial and error to figure out what was getting me detected.

You pretty much have to edge around corners to make every kill so that your intended victim is the only target on your screen. It has to be a one shot, if you miss they'll detect you. If the turret at the end turns around and starts shooting you, you've failed. If the one/two sleeping grunts aren't sleeping, you've failed. If the Grunts are running around instead of walking, you've failed.

Friggin annoying.

The AI people won't attack until the covenant start shooting, so you don't have to kill them

just got the achievement, i missed shots, so missing is ok
the sleeping grunts were my first targets, the enemy never shot, maybe it has something to do with that??

I think this one might be buggy as well. I had not been spotted, had not been fired on, and still had 3 enemies left to kill when the marines ran out and ruined it.

AKU, I took out the grunts last, so I don't think that has anything to do with it. I kind of agree with wheelman though

I did this three times without being spotted/attacked. I did everything right: it doesn't unlock for me. F*king bugged achievements.... i hate that. Every new game, even the ones that only have a graphic update (Anniversary), seem to be bugged.

Bandanna and Boom are definitely the way to do it. Tried it a couple of times with the sniper, but got spotted by the turret at the end immediately. Got it first time with the skulls on. Thumbs up.

Can confirm. Bandanna, boom and grenades galour is the way to go. Just keep them flying! Once I approached the opening (after the music changed) it popped.

Finally got it after doing it at least 12 times right.... but i got it... using the technique with the grenades. You'll get a thumbs up from me

Well, something that might be important for this achievement. In every video I've seen of this, the last enemy you kill has to be not alert. They can be in a turret, but for example, if its a grunt running around (or apparently the elite at all) it wont pop. Maybe it counts it as an alert since it was the last one. I tried this a lot and ended up getting it after killing one enemy then waiting til they calmed down then moving on. Don't know if this is needed, but it helped.

This isn't glitched. There will be some sleeping guys that don't show up on the radar and there is one that you really cannot see in the corner. so you actually have to look for him.

Grenades worked fine =) but the marines were causing an issue (I at least think they were), so I killed them all off first before chucking grenades. Only one grunt remained that I found and sniped, achievement unlocked as soon as he died. Before that the marines would move in and screw up the achievement by being spotted, I don't know WHY they did this but they did it anyways.

Tried about 10 times on the Remastered version with no luck. Switched to the older version by pressing back when the level started. Achievement popped on the first try.

This one is rather simple, load up Truth and Reconciliation on easy and make your way to the sniping point. Spawn areas seem to randomise each time. In total there is

1 Elite
2 Jackels
3 Grunts walking around or in a gunner seat
4 Grunts sleeping

If you can take out the ones walking around first you can walk in the area and pick them off, be careful though as there are at least 2 possible grunt sleeping spots below where you snipe.

If you have done it right the achievement should pop before the covenant come around the corner if not simply revert last save and try again.

I did seem to do this several times without it working, might be a tad buggy.

Simply sniper the Covenant one at a time, I hid behind the tree at the beginning and popped out to kill some of the enemies then hugged the wall to the right to take out the remaining Grunts. This achievement is not buggy you can be detected but not shot at if you shoot them whilst they are running in order to shoot you. Generally, if they are running you might as well hit revert to last save. NOTE: I only used sniper, no skulls or grenades.

In my video i show you how to get All According to Plan without spamming grenades and the second half of the video is me telling you how to get Close Quarter Combat

This is very simple.

First of all: you want to put the difficulty on easy. Not that it makes much of a difference, but it does sound easier.

Second: Do not go any further than the first or second major rock on the right incline. Be patient and they will start running around. Then you can just pick them off.

The biggest thing that you do not want to do is alert the stationary turrets otherwise your screwed. After all of the enemies have been taken out, slowly move up the incline to where you can just barely see the turret on the far edge of the cliff.

This achievement is not glitched. I love how people cannot get achievements, so they say it is glitched. You just have to do it right. It may take a few tries, but just be patient and move slowly, and take them all out!

Behind the ridge that cortana tells you to recon from is a rock in a sort of U shape that allows you to stand behind and shoot from with a fairly high chance of staying hidden.

I stood behind that and shot two or three enemies and crouched down and threw my grenades and waited a few seconds for the covenant to stop looking. Once they stopped I slowly creeped up and shot the rest one by one.

Using this spot only took me two two tries as opposed to failing ten times whilst on the ridge.

Good luck!

You should sneak up to the side of the first rock. Make sure the crouch setting is on toggled so this will be easier. First, you should take out the Elite Major, move over on the hill and snipe him from behind the bush. Carefully, one at a time pick off covenant. Move every time you fire so they don't see you. If any covenant fire at you, you have to restart the mission. If you see enemies begin to walk down the hill on the far side of the valley and you haven't gotten the achievement, you have to restart.

Throwing the grenades over the wall with Bandanna and Boom Skulls on works however you must first kill all your Marines as they run in a little early and void the Achievement. I tried it many times without killing the Marines and it would never work, first time I killed the Marines it worked

There are 10 enemies to kill. They are:

1 Elite (Can be red or blue, most likely blue on lower difficulties)
2 Jackels
7 Grunts (3 are in turrets/walking 4 are sleeping, unless you wake them up)

If the grunts wake up, or run around, you will STILL get the achievement, though they are harder to get if they wake up. Make sure to do it on easy, and with a bandana skull. (If you have it.)

MAKE SURE TO GET THE GRUNT IN THE VERY RIGHT CORNER BEHIND THE ROCKS, AT THE END OF THE SIDE PASSAGE!!! I kept on missing it over and over again, hope you don't miss!!!

Immediately after getting off of the dropship, head to the cliffside toward the back of the canyon, but stand back far enough to avoid being seen. There are 2 shade turrets, 2 elites, 2 Jackals, and a handful of grunts (mostly asleep) Start by eliminating the Elites, than the Jackals, than the turrets. After that it's just a matter of taking out the grunts scattered around the canyon.

Note: Whatever you do, do not leave the cliff-side or the marines will move in and blow your cover. Do not stop hunting for enemies until the marines move on their own. That signifies that you're done.

Here's a video for further assistance:
