Pilot a Banshee on the level “Assault on the Control Room.”

How to unlock the I’ll Be Taking That! achievement in Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary - Definitive Guide

I remember trying to do this on the original. Watch the last third of the video if you don't want a text explanation.

When Cortana says, "Analyzing. This must be the control room," you are there. You'll pass SEVERAL Banshees throughout the level (which is a long one), but don't try to take them out and enter, just wait until this final part. Either snipe out the Elite or rocket the whole bunch (Elite, two Grunts, two Jackals), and a final Elite will pop up behind the Banshee. If you don't get it, "revert to last save."

This video was done by Nowise10 on the original Xbox. It works exactly the same, just with all the more glory (happy anniversary!):

I think you mean this video was done in classic. The original didn't have achievements ;)

Going back to Halo on the original Xbox, I always had a stealthier way of yoinking the Banshee right out from underneath the Elite's nose. I was happy to discover it still works.

Before the room with the Hunters that comes right before the bridge where the Banshee is sitting, there's a hallway with an Active Camo powerup. Leave it there, kill the 2 Hunters and the Grunts that come in from the bridge, then backtrack to the Active Camo. Once invisible, all you have to do is run by all the Covenant on the bridge and hop in the Banshee before the Elite does. Easy.

I tried this after just killing the two hunters on a second playthrough on easy after missing it on Legendary. Unfortunately, I was delayed jumping over grunts in the tunnels before getting outside, and the Elite grabbed the Banshee. I revererted to last save, but it had given me a checkpoint in the worst possible place, just before the rock and the Elite, with no time for a shot, and grenades took too long or blew the banshee off the ledge as well.

My thoughts were "Oh S**t", I've got to play that very long level all over again! However, after about 20 tries, I found that, as long as I got to exactly the right spot in between the Banshees rear wings, I could still hit 'X' and grab the banshee back, and the achievement popped. Phew!!!

Hope this helps someone else stuck in that position.

Great solution. Worked the very first time. I have no idea why anyone would vote negative.

This is towards the end of the mission when you come out on a cliff bridge there will be few grunts a jackal and 2 elites.

Now you will be able to see the banshee in plain sight you need to kill the elite before he manages to get into it. He starts right at the back of everyone else i recommend carrying the rocket launcher, you can pick up last time i remember where you enter the canyon for the tank next to the warthog or on the way to the banshee there is another on the left path before you get there next to a med pack and keep it till you need it. simply fire it at him he will die and you can jump in.

If you do fail you can revert the save and you will be back just before the event.

another way to get the achievement is by throwing a grenade up by where the elite that takes the banshee is. if you toss the grenade close enough to the elite he will attempt to evade the blast by rolling away from it. when he does this he will roll of the ledge or if he doesn't he will be close enough the ledge that the blast from the grenade will push him off. be careful where you throw the grenade tho, because if you throw it to close to the banshee it will blow the banshee off the ledge as well.

as stated by quickdraw, if you do blow the banshee off the ledge or if the elite gets it simply revert to the last check point or jump of the ledge to your death. Good luck

note: i used this method while going through the game on legendary. the elite just wouldn't die with bullets.

I have made a video on how to easily get this achievement.

NOTE: The second video is motivation music! =)

Doing this glitch will help you get the achievements I'll Be Taking That!, Assault on The Control Room, and you can also work towards completing the game on Legendary. This glitch may take a few tries and you have to be playing on classic mode for it to work.

Surprised nobody listed this earlier, but a trick from the first game still works just fine in Anniversary. Soon after finding the tank, there is a platform (the one you end Two Betrayals on) above you on which there is a vacant Banshee. Passing a certain point in the further canyon will trigger an Elite spawning in and piloting the Banshee away.

You can knock the Banshee down using various methods, there are a few youtube solutions available and I have linked the best one I could see. The advantage of getting this one is that you can bypass the vast majority of the level using it, so on higher difficulties and speed runs it is a pretty useful option.

Toward the end of the level, you'll come to a snow-covered bridge crossing another canyon. Two banshees will be parked in the distance. There are any number of options you could use. A normal run n' gun might work if you can kill the Elite fast enough. If you've got a sniper rifle, you can casually snipe the Elites before they enter the banshee. With careful aim, a rocket launcher or grenade will flip the banshee or knock it off the edge, allow you to pick it up when you get to the ground floor.

On Co-op, there's an easier trick. Don't use the camo found in the corridor before the final room preceding the bridge. Instead, go into the room and kill the hunters and grunts. Have the player that needs the cheevo go back to the camo and have the other player wait next to the teleport point in the hallway before the bridge. Right as the player picks up the camo, teleport him and have the invisible player run out and head straight for the banshee.

Here's a video for further assistance:
