How to unlock the This Side Up achievement in Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary - Definitive Guide
Just to add to quickdraw's:
You can do this on a checkpoint revert. So if you get to Echo 419 in without flipping, then flip during the next segment a revert to do it again, you'll still get the achievement. Just did that myself. Took 3 tries to not flip on the big jump.

this is H1. the checkpoints can be kind of glitchy and awkward at times, and just not save sometimes. I've played since H1 PC and xbox days.. and unfortunately they haven't fixed that problem, between any of the games :/

All i did was jump into the warthog and drove for a few seconds then got out. Then got a friend to get in the SAME warthog and completed the level. the friend person can flip all he/she wants and the other person can still get the achievement because you never flipped. i found this out so the credit goes to me. i did this with Alpha Wesker 5 so he gets some credit too. I HOPE THIS HELPS!!!!!!!!
Way too much thought put into this, in my opinion. This site is for getting the achievements. So do it the easy way, by putting "the Maw" on easy, log in a 2nd controller, throw on the infinite ammo skull for fun, burn through the level, get to the warthog and have the 2nd controller drive, have the account you want to get 10gs sit back and let the checkpoints drag them along, you don't need to get into the warthog at all, and with the 2nd controller you can flip all you want, just make it to the end of the level in time.
I got this on my second profile accidently in my Legendary playthrough. Apparently, it counts if you never entered the Warthog to be forcibly ejected, so if you use two controllers, have your main one sit back at the begining and have your other controller race through all the Flood and Covenant.

I played couch co-op on Legendary and my player 2 had to quit so I kept going solo on the warthog run (leaving the other person behind) and when I finally got to the end, player 2 got it!

In my video i show how to get This Side Up and show you which routes to take for Never Tell Me The Odds i wasn't doing this on legendary but if i was i would have gotten both chievos cause on easy you have an extra min that i didn't need.
Load up The Maw on easy and work your way through the level until you get to the warthog race part with the timer. Now you should only focus on driving nothing can kill you so don't worry.
This one is rather simple the only issue is with the jump near the end of the run. Soon as you hit the big jump stop accelerating and you will land correctly then full throttle over the jump from there is smooth driving.
Even if your not a good driver you can take the safe paths without risking failing the timer. Should you somehow fail revert the save and you will start back at the beginning.

Just don’t flip the vehicle over. You have plenty of time to spare, so if you’re not sure of a ramp or jump, be safe and take the easy way around. Nothing fancy and this should be cake. At the large jump, I personally find doing a 360 degree spin through the air helps balance the vehicle as it falls, but it's a more advanced trick that takes practice.
