How to unlock the A True Test of Legends achievement in Halo Infinite - Definitive Guide
A True Test of Legends involves completing all the main campaign missions on Legendary difficulty. Doing so will also unlock completing Easy, Normal, and Heroic achievements.
Personally, since it was my first playthrough I ensured that I had my spartan abilities fully upgraded before getting too far into the story. There are plenty of spartan cores located throughout but the grappleshot and shield cores were my first two to have upgraded. Also, the threat sensor came in handy as well to give me an idea of what I was up against.
This game also made me realize that other weapons are just as important as my favorites that I like to carry around. Honestly, the sentinel beam and cindershot were an absolute treat to use and quickly melted enemies for me even legendary.
One last thing I'll mention is to utilize the environment the best you can. Any fusion coils you can toss will definitely help especially against enemies like Hunters. Grappleshot your way throughout the campaign to get better vantage points and definitely use it to grab weapons and other items if they are out of reach. This tool also comes in handy should you need to get out of a tight squeeze as well. Hijacking enemy vehicles was nice to have as well and no longer needed me to disable the vehicle via newb combo to put a stop to it.
Hopefully this helps.

This is no longer obtainable. 343 botched another update. At least 2 missions Spire and The Sequeunce do not register as being completed on Legendary. The show as being completed on Easy. So frustrating the level of incompetence there has been with this game. Literally may never touch another Halo after this, if made by 343.

We're having an issue... my friends and I finally complete Halo Infinite co-op last night!
We had each been using our original 'Finish the Fight' saves from when we'd originally completed the games individually (*originally* on Normal or Heroic).
We'd replayed all of the campaign missions, this time in both Legendary and Co-op, IN ADDITION we'd replayed every single side mission (now on Legendary). However, the game hasn't recognised that we've now completed the game in Legendary and hasn't given us the achievement.
We can all see that as we glide around the map, EVERYTHING (every main mission and side mission) is marked as having been completed in Legendary (all 4 skulls are white), however none of us got the achievement.
The requirement of "Complete all main campaign missions on Legendary difficulty" has definitely been achieved by all of us so I can only assume this is a glitch? Is there something we've missed?

While this isn’t exactly a guide, this does assist tremendously with the campaign. There is a way to get a weapon that is the equivalent of a scorpion tank cannon with infinite ammo early in the game that you can carry with you through the missions. The damage does not hurt you as well, so there’s no danger of that.
So after you defeat Tremonius and walk outside for the first time (the location is Outpost tremonius), you will be tasked with clearing a safe place for the pelican to land. After you clear out the enemies, call the pelican, and after the cutscene DO NOT enter the ship: instead, turn around and look for 2 cannons on the smaller wall on the left side. Grapple up to it and go to the gun on the cannon on the far left. When you look directly down at the barrel, it will give a prompt to pick up the weapon. It is a bit clunky at times, but it helps tremendously with bosses or anything else really. It’s worth noting that you can still freely swap the other weapon, so you can carry one other thing if you would like the option.

I was wondering if anyone else found that scorpion tank weapon. I found it on my own and didn't look at the internet until after I completed the campaign.
I played the whole campaign on Normal with it. Now I hope it's still there on Legendary.
If that gun is a glitch and it gets patched, note it will make this guide worthless afterwards.

I mean that’s why I threw the it isn’t so much a guide in there, this just makes this a bit more visible for some and definitely makes things easier in the meantime.

Halo Infinite was a big Challange on Legendary in my book. I beat Halo Infinite on Legendary, But I never used any skulls to beat it. It takes time and a lot of thinking. Try to get used to the layout of each Mission. Try to skip some Battles with the Banished if u can. I used the Grapple Hook most of the time getting around places to avoid battles. Take your time as well. Bosses are a pain on Legendary. Again Use the Grapple Hook to your advantage. The last 2 Bosses for the Last 2 Missions are insane!!! lol. I'll share my Halo Infinite Legendary Playthrough Video Links here. I'll try to guide U as much as I can beating every Mission on Legendary. One's U beat all Missions on Legendary. The Achievement Will Unlock. Hope this helps out. Thanks.
The easiest way to unlock this achievement imho is to use the Bandana skull. I don't recommend you try without Bandana. It's definitely doable, but since many of the bosses are bullet sponges, it will take a lot longer. I managed to complete this achievement with Bandana in 12 hours, doing about 3/4 of the side content.
Here is a Bandana location guide:
https://www.ign.com/wikis/halo-infinite/Bandana_Skull_Locati...)
(You can unlock the skull on any difficulty, including Easy, but since it's in a mission and not the open world it might require a new playthrough. All you have to do is get through one room in the mission without killing a sentinel. The easiest way is just to run through with your grappleshot without killing anything. That will unlock the door to the skull.)
Now that you have Bandana, you can begin the Legendary playthrough. This means you can take a power weapon with you all the time as a problem solver. I like to take a sniper rifle with me and kill everything at range. Also, spam shock grenades at enemies constantly. Since Bandana eliminates equipment cooldowns, it makes certain playstyles viable which wouldn't otherwise be. For example, once you have fully upgraded your thruster you can simply spam it constantly, which means you can be invisible and run through entire maps without any fighting. Once you have drop shield you can just keep putting down drop shields and killing things without having to move.
Once you get out into the open world on Outpost Tremonious, you can clear the platform with an air strike.
This guide will show you how:
You can also acquire the Scorpion gun, which trivializes a lot of the content in the game, killing virtually everything in one or two hits. You have to be careful not to accidentally pick up another weapon when you have it equipped because you will lose it. If you do lose it, immediately exit to the menu and reload before the game saves the checkpoint so you can keep the gun. Note that for some reason it really only works when you jump up in the air and then shoot the enemy, not when you are standing on the ground. Also you cannot melee anything. Here is a guide on how to get the gun:
Acquire the Arcane Sentinel Beam as soon as it's available, which is pretty early in the game near the Excavation sight by killing Thav Sebarim. It's arguably the best gun in the game. It melts shields, destroys bosses and sentinels. From Nexus on I carried it all the way to the Harbinger at the end.
A note on side content. I recommend you get enough spartan cores to at least upgrade the shields and the grappleshot. Additional cores depend on your playstyle. (You don't have to get all the spartan cores in the game to fully upgrade your abilities.) Again, Bandana makes equipment very effective to either win or avoid fights entirely. Upgraded Thrusters is really useful for The Road mission, which you can stealth through without having to fight at all. This is much faster too because there are so many enemies to kill. Upgraded Drop shield will allow you to stand there and trade shots with bosses who would otherwise kill you in one hit. The added shock damage also speeds the process up.
Upgrading threat sensor is the least important. You need it to fight Jega in the House of Reckoning, but Bandana eliminates the cooldown, so that upgrade is worthless. Having a bigger area is useful, but it's not that necessary.
Boss tips:
1) I killed Tremonious by first killing the yellow shield jackals with a shock coil, and stunning them with shock grenades. Tremonious himself I killed by getting in close, hiding behind pilllars, and tagging him with spike grenades over and over.
2) Chak Lok in the Tower was very annoying. Spam shock grenades everywhere to keep him from charging you. This will identify his location and slow him down.
3) Bassus in Excavation can be cheesed easily. There is a ledge overhanging one of the three doors facing the laser console. Get up on it and he will be helpless to get at you.
4) The Spartan Hunters on Pelican Down. Sniped them from far away. Easy.
5) Hunters. You will encounter a few of these, always in pairs, in the open world and the linear missions. The shock grenade tactic doesn't work here. Tag them with spike grenades, hit them with coils, and headshot them with skewers.
6) Despondent Pyre. Arcane Sentinel beam trivializes this.
7) in the final fight with Harbinger, don't stay on the raised outer rim of the arena too long because it will make you a target for jackal snipers. Instead hang out in the small passageways that go beneath the staircases, moving from one to another in a circle. This will protect you and force enemies to attack you in only two directions. When you have defeated the other enemies, use the Arcane Sentinel beam on Harbinger and melee her when she comes close. Don't try to run away with the grappleshot. Her teleportation makes that strat useless.
8) Okro Vagaduun. This is probably the first HVT you will kill. You will find him wandering around near a pile of coils. If you shoot the coils and time your shot right, you will send him over the cliff to his death and be able to turn your attention to his crew. Very easy valor.
If you are finding the open world content frustrating, you can try using your marines. Get a Razorback at a FOB, then get a power weapon like a Spanker or a Volatile Skewer, and trade weapons with five marines until everyone has one. Then load everyone into a Razorback and go kill stuff. The marines should take care of everything for you.
