Do I need to start the mission from beginning or is there Checkpoint Alpha/Beta etc?

I used the tank gun, put it on easy, and accidentally died from exploding canisters halfway through the fight. I resumed, finished him off without losing my shield, and it still popped. 🤗

If your shield goes below you can kill yourself and still get the achievement

yeah so on easy it only does 1/4 of his health, fake guide

Just want to confirm taximike's comment, if you accidentally kill yourself it will still pop.

Did mission replay on easy with bandana on used a rocket launcher and the grapple shot to avoid him and just chipped away second phase with the gravity hammer is arguably easier

For those still struggling with instant killing him, you need to have the cowbell skull on to send him flying into the wall with the tank gun. The guide doesn’t say it but was able to use that method on my laso run. Don’t know why that very important piece of info was left out of the guide but that should help everyone

I also did this one the LASO-run on PC. I skipped cutscene and spammed shot button. Insta-kill

Ummm, House of Reckoning or Armory of Reckoning?

Used to be if you held y and rt together as soon as he starts talking rubbish, it'd instakill him splattering him against the wall.

This one was no sweat on Easy with Bandana. I hit him and the power relays with rockets and grappled away to reload. I don't think I was ever below 75% shields the whole time.

On easy with bandanna and rockets, it isn't too bad. At some point I fired a rocket too close and killed myself and the check point was about midway through the battle. I decided to finish it and it still counted.

Should have mentioned, the instakill I described needs the tank gun

I got this on my LASO playthrough in coop. I died and restarted a couple times. I guess you just have to not lose your shields the time you kill him.

Similar story to @Rosshk. I tried a few times – dying each time – and then skipped the cutscene upon going back to the last checkpoint. Fired immediately, and then it instantly killed him (I didn't know that was going to be the case). So, you can die, and still get it. You just have to not lose all of your shield that given life.

You can still replay outpost tremonius to get the rank gun, then finish level to save tank gun in inventory. Then replay final boss fight and boom goes the dynamite.

War Chief Escharum is the second boss in the 14th mission, House of Reckoning.

my teammate killed me with the tank gun accidentally, I told him to die, we both respawned at a spot before we died, achievement popped

I've tried everything but won't unlock it for me, with or without a scorpion gun, I've also tried to do it without getting hit but nothing. Has anyone else had this problem?

M41 Tracker, Boom and Cowbell make this pretty novel on easy.
I had the Volatile Skewer but it was not even needed and probably too slow.
Combined with a fully upgraded grapple & Bandanna Skull its easy enough.

He's right above. If you lose your shield, just die and try again from your checkpoint as long as you checkpoints before that without losing your shield

Probably best to start from the beginning of the mission. Using the tank weapon, it takes maybe just a few minutes to get through each training area. You'll spend maybe 10 minutes total before reaching Escharum.

I too was also unlucky on the instakill. However, using the grapple and avoid him like L0RD PLUMBUS mentioned to the do the trick. In fact, I do not think I was touched.

Did this on Easy, no Bandana Skull (didn't get it, yet). I just kept my distance and hit him with the Energy Sword form the last boss, waited for the Relays o pop open and destroyed them, then kept using the Sword until it ran out, before grabbing the Rocket Launcher and using that on him while still keeping my distance. When the Rocket Launcher ran out, I grabbed a shock rifle, but I also grabbed the minigun turret and used that, keeping my distance.

When the last Relay went, he took out his hammer and it was worrisome but again, I kept my distance and pelted him with the minigun until he died. My shields NEVER dropped to zero.
