How to unlock the Out with a Bang achievement in Halo Infinite - Definitive Guide

I must mention that this takes place during the mission Recovery
This is the best way I found to beat this boss:
-Turn the bandana skull on
-Bring in an assault rifle and the secret tank gun, in case it's too late for you to grab the latter, a rocket launcher or a Bulldog shotgun should do the trick.
Now, spam your dynamo grenades on the boss, they will cause him to get stunned, during that time, fry his shields and get his health down. Rocket or Bulldog him while he's stunned, and use the assault rifle when he charges at you.
When he's at half health bar or about to die (defending on the difficulty you're playing on) start using plasma and only plasma grenades on him until he dies. Once that's done the achievement should be yours.

Ah damnit you’re right. That’s what I get for not playing it since launch.

Is this a copy n paste for something else? I ask because the mention of the tank gun at all tells me this would have partially been written months ago before it got patched out.

@Vash 1he Stmpde the tank gun was just temporarly patched, it's back in the campaign and it has been back for quite a long time

Lol. Replayed the mission and there is no prompt to open the door to the boss, tried resetting, restarting etc and it never shows up. Guess I’m screwed due to a crappy glitch.

The "Tower Commander" that you're trying to stick is Chak 'Lok btw.

I encountered that door glitch as well; I ended up suiciding with 'nades twice in a row and then was able to open the door.

Great tip. I did try suiciding the first time with no joy. This time I just kept doing it and after five or six attempts I suddenly had a save closer to the door and the prompt was there. Suggest you clear out all enemies before going to the top floor - as it won’t do random saves if they are below you. Good luck everyone.

I only used Plasma Grenades on him and it hasn't unlocked. I never fired a bullet at him?

Popped first try on mission replay, easy and bandana skull. Just spam him with plasma nades. I had to suicide 10 or so times to get the prompt to open the door. This game is still trash

I also had the issue where I got to the door where Spartan Griffin is being tortured and I didn’t get the prompt. I killed myself with plasma grenades and spawned back right outside the door, but this time with the prompt. I was playing on Easy, with Bandana Skull on and on mission replay.

Simple solution to getting stuck if the door into the room with Spartan Griffin doesn't open. Simply open your tac-map, select the Recovery icon again with the X button in order to open up 'Mission Options' and then hit 'resume checkpoint'. This will load you up at the top floor and the door should be able to be opened. No need for repeated suicide hoping it will open.

Do you have to stick him or does the blast radius count ?

When Bungie used Halo lines as achievement names in Reach, it was a well deserved victory lap. 343 using them in Infinite is a sad attempt at member berries.
"Hey 'member this line from a game we didn't create?"

I got the top floor and the door wouldn’t let me hit X to open it. I used duckonabikes method and it let me open it first try. Hope that helps

@duckonabike your trick works for me to open the door. The UI is slightly different it just says "resume mission" now (at least on console), but it does the same thing, presumably resumes the last checkpoint.
@Chrusha On blast radius is fine, I just got it by killing him with the grenade near him, not on him :)

I just did this and it didn't pop despite only using plasma grenades on him. Could it have been that he was taken out by a fusion coil from the plasmas? Either way, bummed I've gotta play it again.

Edit: I think it was definitely a random fusion coil that took him out the first time. What I did was before opening the door, I destroyed all the fusion coils in the outer hallway just in case and then killed him in that outer hallway area so I could be sure only plasmas were going to kill him.

To get this achievement, you must start the mission RECOVERY and progress to the Tower Commander fight. Remove his shield and his life with any attack, but you have to kill him with a plasma grenade.

Tip: if you have unlocked the Bandana Skull, activate it to have infinite plasma grenades.

Here is a video to help you:

Kill Chuck Lok with a plasma grenade in the mission "Tower" (restarted through "Return"). You can use a bandana skull
