Halo: Reach

The kill can be a headshot OR bodyshot with the DMR.
You must be far enough that the reticle is NOT red but blue while you are zoomed in shooting your enemy and that sometimes doesn't even suffice.
You do NOT have to get this on one of the Noble Map Pack dlc maps (but you can).
The gametype must only be a FORM of slayer and doesn't have to be in the slayer playlist (but can be).

|> Load up BTB and vote for big team slayer on HEMORRHAGE, PARADISO, BONEYARD or SPIRE. (Shoot from one end of the map to another on boneyard - on hemorrhage shoot from the top of the inclined hill behind the base or if you spawn at the other base use a jetpack to get up onto the top of the cliff near the coastline [yes you can get up there!] - on spire you should clearly shoot down from the top of the spire - on paradiso shoot down from the top of the rocky peak in the middle of the map)

|> Load up the DLC playlist and vote for slayer gametypes on BREAKPOINT or TEMPEST. (If you end up on tempest go to the very edge of the map, on breakpoint stay on the top of the ridge in the middle of the map of course. The latter is where I got it while shooting an enemy behind the banshee spawn) :D

This may or may not be attainable using the TELEPORTER tactic in which you nail a kill and then quickly step through a teleporter which will take you far enough away, the idea being it records the distance after you have teleported rather than instantly as you pull off the kill [?] (please confirm)

-So you think you're far enough? You're NOT. Go FURTHER. [or try a larger map] Alternatively; jetpack as high as possible when administering the final headshot to add some crucial distance.

-If your distance is fine but you cant pull off the shots fast enough to get the kill try a sniper bodyshot quickly followed up by a DMR headshot as shown in the video below =)

Doesn't matter what map you try this on. the only requirement is that your reticule isn't RED when you shoot them, it must be GRAY. this includes when you are zoomed in. It took me a few tries but I got it in a BTS on Tempest. I ran all the way to the far wall in the center of the map, by the river, and i shot a guy and killed him and it popped.

I tried it on other matches but maybe the ranges was still not far enough.

My Advice: Don't do it on Anchor 9. I wasted way too much time there.

This chievo can be accomplished in the SWAT playlist as long as its done on Paradiso, Assylum or Boardwalk.

I reccomend boardwalk as that is where I was able to get it. With instant kill on a headshot, makes this easy as cake.

Managed to first strike from across the map unlocking this. fairly easy considering the line of site of the map along with the fact that teams camp themselve on either side of the map.

I don't know the exact distance, but the achievement popped for me on Boardwalk, when I killed someone who was standing to the right of the curved central balcony at the top of the central steps, I was in the corner room at the other end of the map (bottom of the same steps and accross a courtyard).

A few headshots and pop, the achievement appears immediately on the kill. I would reckon that Boardwalk is one of the best maps for this because it offers so many distance sniper positions and often in slayer games other people will get the shields down on someone meaning you only need to finish them off rather than try and do all the work remotely with zoomed in headshots.

For this achievement, I recommend you play BIG TEAM BATTLE on HEMMORAGE. The map is wide and clear for long shots with the DMR. When trying to get the kill, scope in with the DMR and make sure that when aiming or shooting at somebody, THE RETICULE IS GRAY, NOT RED. Try to find a enemy all ready taking damage and aim for the head, or just get a clear sight of somebody and be accurate. Once killing a enemy by scoping and GREY RETICULE, the achievement should pop. I was at one of the side trails of the map and was aiming at the enemy spawn/base. Scoped in(with a gray reticule), shot and killed a enemy in a revenant. The vehicle exploded and cheevo unlocked.

I've got a different solution for this one. Vehicle kills count for this achievement, so I would personally recommend netting this one on BTB Spire.

Just unload on an enemy falcon (or banshee) while it's in the air. It's much easier to hit from a distance and the DMR does a surprising amount of damage. Softening it up with the sniper rifle will also help (which is obscene against vehicles)- and your teammates will doubtlessly be making the job easier.

If that fails, spire is still a great place to get this achievement due to its immense size.

EDIT: It will take a full clip (or two)- so ideally target a Falcon that's already smoking or on fire.

EDIT 2: Oh, and make sure that it's far away! Preferably hang out in the rocks on the side of the map and attack an aircraft that's doing strafing runs on the tower.

My friend and I both got this one on the Paradiso map.

You can get to the top of the tall mountain in the center by jetpacking or running up the side by the blue base and jumping up. Once up there, we found it really easy to pick off blue guys spawning at the blue base. Zoom in. Works great.

Easiest way to do, take me only 1 try, 5 min after i figured it out, with the last gameplay list before Halo 4 release:

Search List -- RumblePit
Map -- PowerHouse (very very common)
Mode -- Slayer DRM optimal (Other Slayer variant, but you will need to find DRM, not a problem, you can find a DRM on top of the powerhouse where you will be to shoot anyway)

You need a 2nd controller with guest account.

When game starts set your guest in the big locked door near the shootgun spawn, in front of the broken bridge outside the powerhouse, in this place your guest account can rest for a while since nobody search here for a kill.

Now you must sneak into the top of the power house, follow the stairs on the left of the map, from there you will be able to see your guest account (you will probably need make it jump)

Take your shots and ... BAM! achievement unlocked.

Just to add to this solution... the easiest way which worked for me is:

Play SWAT, try and get on the level Boardwalk. If you are the blue team, you spawn on the bottom of the map. Stay at the spawn, try and take cover in the corner, and aim for the bridge. Majority of the time and enemy will either go straight to the bridge or try to run across it. Pick them off right away or just camp down below until someone crosses the bridge. This is a long enough distance for it to count. Hit them in the head with one shot and they die and the achievement will pop.

Basically, you have to kill someone while the crosshair is blue, meaning you can't identify the enemy because they are so far away.
Notably, you just have to kill the person using the DMR, which means this could also be done by shooting an explosive/vehicle with the enemy near enough to be killed by them. Since the DMR has a high vehicle damage, it would probably be easier to shoot a manned vehicle that is out of range.
I got mine on BTS on Hemmorage, when I shot a warthog on the other side of the map with a person on the turret. Hope this helps

I got this one yesterday by shooting a banshee on one of the community developed maps. I wasn't trying for it per se so I cannot tell you if the reticile would have been red. I didn't even zoom in (easy to hit the banshee without zooming).
*Edit - the map was RIFT by the way.

- I did this in literally a minute doing it this way
- Start up Big Team Battle
- Wait until the Match is Slayer on "Paradiso"
- When the match begins (regardless of Wat team ur on) climb the huge mountain in the middles of the map until u get to the very top and make sure u have a DMR with some extra ammo.
- look down at the other teams base and there should be at least three or four enemies running around the base. Just pick one out and the Achievement is urs if u kill them. (it does not have to be a head shot a body shot will work too)

I discovered that you can get this achievement using a teleporter, if you time it right. If you are able to kill someone with the DMR as you are stepping into a teleporter, the kill will register after you reappear. If the distance between the teleporters is large enough, your kill will count as a distance kill, and since you killed someone with the DMR, the achievement will unlock.

This occurred for me during a BTB Slayer match on Paradiso. I was fighting several Red players near the Red base, on the walkway with the Red base teleporter. As I killed one of Red players, I backed into the teleporter. When I came out, I took a few steps and the achievement popped. Since this was effectively an accident, I don't know how reproducible it is. If anyone else gets the achievement this way, please leave a comment describing any nuances you found to the process.

This achievement is glitched as can be. I've killed 3 people from the top of Spire with the DMR and it didn't pop. I managed to get this achievement on Hemorrage during a Big Team match. You know the base that has the giant wall behind it? I was sniping someone from the [cliff] rocks near that base and it popped.

This achievement is quite simple if you've not yet gotten it.

Load up Team S.W.A.T and get the map BoardWalk. Get to the one of the ends of the map and shoot people at the other end. If you get lucky, you'll get a headshot and the achievement will pop.

NOTE! You have to be at opposite ends for this to work.

This is (to my knowledge) the easiest and fastest way to get this achievement.
