How to unlock the I Need a Weapon achievement in Halo: Reach - Definitive Guide

Reach's 4th Mission, Nightfall, is a bit different than many levels in Halo: Reach in that you can finish this rather stealthily. The only other level I can think of that is similar is Truth and Reconciliation from Halo: CE.

You'll work through this level with Jun and are provided a sniper rifle from the beginning.

I'm not going to give a guide to completing this level since on normal this isn't that hard. I will say that almost every section can be skipped. There is only one spot in the level that prevents you from moving. At first glance you'd think you have to stick around and fight your way so that this door opens, but there's another way around it.

There is a well known shortcut that can save some time and fighting. When you get to the section where there's a door blocking your path it is possible to drive a forklift at the center of the door. When you exit the forklift you will jump through the door and end up on the other side. This can take some practice to get the correct location. No Covenant will spawn anymore so it's possible to just sprint to the end. This is useful on Legendary and if you're doing speed runs. I've included a video below. I take no credit for its creation.

Mission 4 – Nightfall

Mission starts at 0:28:59 in the walkthrough video below.

You’re definitely going to want to watch the video for this one. This mission can be cleared in five to eight minutes if you follow the speedrun route, or it can take you in excess of an hour or more if you fight your way through everything. I’d suggest doing the speedrun, as it’s quite simple, takes very little skill, and can save you tons of time. Don’t forget to assassinate the Elite at the top of the hill at the start of the mission for "That’s a Knife".

Halo: ReachThat's a KnifeThe That's a Knife achievement in Halo: Reach worth 10 pointsPerform an Assassination on an enemy.

If you choose not to follow the video and make your own way, I would still suggest doing the ‘door glitch’. You’ll reach a part with a bridge you must cross with an Elite patrolling among some sleeping grunts. Just past the bridge is a forklift. Try to assassinate the Elite without waking the grunts, then drive the forklift to the door straight ahead. Align the vehicle with the driver’s side against the door at a slight angle (about 30 degrees). When you get out, you’ll pass through the door and can run to the end of the mission without fighting anything else. At mission completion, you’ll unlock the next story-related achievement for finishing it on normal or higher.

You win this achievement by playing the 4th level: Nightfall. This is the Sniper Level with Jun.

This level VERY MUCH SO fills into the montra of "SLOW AND STEADY!" There are elites EVERYWHERE and a ton of people on plasma turrets.

Couple of pointers:

1) Keep to the outside...at all times, keep to the outside of the map. This level is built to be a sniper level, so act like it.

2) ---will add more tonight when I have time.---

EXTRAS:

At the beginning of the level....

Halo: ReachIf They Came to Hear Me BegThe If They Came to Hear Me Beg achievement in Halo: Reach worth 47 pointsPerform an Assassination against an Elite to survive a fall that would've been fatal.

On this level grab the active camo and slip past most the enemies. you'll still have to fight the two invisible elites and the hunters but you can sneak around almost all the enemies in this level.
