How to unlock the Lemme Upgrade Ya achievement in Halo: Reach - Definitive Guide
Load up mission start on ONI sword base with cowbell on. Immediatly run up the ramp to your right and kill the elite, then sprint past everyone else, trying not to kill anyone until you get to the little garage like place with the target designator. Pick it up, and run into cover and keep just running into the wall to trigger a checkpoint. Now, call an airstrike right outside the doors, where you just ran from. You can get 10-15 heavy weapons kills this way. Reload checkpoint and repeat. You should get silver in Campaign Splash Damage 10 minutes.
If you vote down at least tell why.
Thanks to W1LLYMAN for bringing my attention that I did not name the commendation.

This is brilliant. I made progress on the commendations which were very low such as Spec Ops, Splash Damage, Walking Tank, Leadership Element.

Spent 20 minutes doing this and made no progress (Splash Damage stuck at 53/100). -1

Commendations in Reach are like challenges you do over time in campaign, matchmaking and firefight matchmaking.
I would recommend that you do one in campaign, because there are enemies everywhere and it's faster. I actually found that Firefight works pretty well for this too.
You should get this eventually from just playing normally.
You can check your progress in game under Service Record - Commendations.
You can also check your progress and other stats over at Bungie.net. This requires an account however.
EDIT:
Here's the progression list and what you're awarded with like you wanted:
Iron rank (1 bar): rewards 100 cR
Bronze rank (2 bars): rewards 600 cR
Silver rank (3 bars): rewards 1200 cR
Gold rank (4 bars): rewards 2400 cR
Onyx rank (black bars): rewards 4800 cR
All credit for this list goes to Curtieson.

I found the quickest commendation to get to Silver was the one for headshots in Firefight Matchmaking. It requires 500 total.
Just play score attack and choose the gruntpocalypse scenario if you have the option. Waves of grunts come at you and you can headshot them in one shot (two if they have a mask on). Chances are you will already have a lot of headshots if you have done the 15k in score attack achievement.
If you play through the campaign a couple of times you could get the campaign headshots up as well.
If you intend to get all of the other achievements in the game, there is no point going out of your way to get this, you will get plenty of silvers by the time you get all of the other achievements.

I found it easier on Beachhead, if you use the top balcony of the building all the Grunts spawn in front of you, some do get behind and come up the stairs but if you keep an ear open you can hear the doors open next to the bottom of the stairs as they pass.

This is for the Commendation 'Pinpoint' - For killing enemies with a headshot.
If you are going for the Solo Legendary achievement you will most likely get this on Campaign scoring headshots on Grunts etc.
Which leads you to the next best option. Gruntpocalypse.
Found in the Score Attack playlist, easiest on Corvette.
The Commendation for headshots in Firefight is called 'Dome Inspector'
DMR and a Pistol.
Win.

For me, the quickest commendation to get to silver was "Get Loud", which is for killing enemies in Firefight mode with ordnance weapons (Rocket Launcher, Grenade Launcher, Plasma Launcher, Spartan Laser, and so on). It requires only 750 kills.
By playing Firefight arcade -> Rocketfight or FRGfight, you can easily rack up 120-140 kills per firefight (my personal best being 193), so it takes you only 6-7 firefights to get the commendation.
Good luck!

The best way to get credits AND get commendations up is to load up the 3rd mission on Herioc, RUN to the Target Destroyer, and wait for a checkpoint, then basically shoot the target destroyer back from where you came from, then either reload the save, or kill yourself (it is MUCH faster to kill yourself!)
Only worth doing until you have onyx on the "Splash Damage" and the "Walking Tank" commendations.
If you're still having trouble, Follow the HD guide underneath:

I played multiplayer a lot so mine was the close quarters(self explanitory). The 2 best modes are Living Dead and Grifball.
In Living Dead it's a little slow. If you start as a zombie any kill you get (not melee) is a close quarter kill. If a human, hope they are the evading zombies and you are a great sharpshooter. If not let them kill you and go on as a zombie.
Grifball is the fastest way to get this. You're only weapons are the energy sword and the gravity hammer. With my team winning 3-1, I racked up 35 to 45 kills with the gravity hammer.
It still will take a couple of matches so good luck!

To view your Commendations. Click on your gamertag while in a lobby, then go to Service Tag > Commendations. Commendations are challenges, and each portion of the game has Commendations for that particular game mode.
- Campaign
- Firefight
- Multiplayer
As you progress, for example, in the "Pinpoint" Commedation in campaign. You will progressively get it to a higher level by completing more and more of that specific Commendation.
The commendations upgrade in this particular order:
Iron > Bronze > Silver > Gold > Onyx
You can check your progress on all of the Commendations online through bungie.net's Commendations Page.
