How to unlock the Poppin' & Lockin' achievement in Halo: Reach - Definitive Guide
A simple achievement, requiring a vehicle to smash into you while you're in armour lock. The vehicle must be going quick enough for it to explode by hitting you.
The easiest way to do this is by going into Big Team Battle and voting for Elite Slayer on Hemmorage. Elite Slayer is full of crazy vehicle (mostly ghost) action and there is plenty of opportunity to get some armour lock kills. Simply run around the middle-ish of the map and try to get the attention of some vehicles. Hopefully they'll notice you and try to splatter you. Just before they hit you, armour lock and if you're lucky they'll explode. 10 seconds later (or so..) your achievement should pop!

For all the DLC achievements it took 10-15 seconds for my achievements to pop up. Dunno why, but no biggie. If you get it, it should pop.. eventually.

The easiest way to get this is play Rumble Pit Slayer and choose a map where you can fall off the map. Asylum works well for this. You can do this with a friend and sign in guests to fill the lobby or just have 8 players. The person going for the achievement meets a player at the edge of the map. Make sure the other player is right on the edge, then armor lock and the burst should push the other player to their death. It still counts as a kill and should net the achievement.

Just to add to this solution: if the initial blast of the armor lock doesn’t knock them off the edge, you can then simply push them off once they’ve been damaged. Still counts.
Great solution. Saved us a lot of hassle. +1

I randomly got this achievement on an elite team slayer game on the sword base map, as you all know there are no viechels on this map all i did was armor lock a hologram and the achievement popped.
My Gamertag is ShoppingTub and the video is in my file share, the file is called poppin' & lockin'

As happened with ShoppingTub, I also got this in Elite Slayer on Sword Base. I popped out of armor lock when an enemy was near me that didn't have any shields and got the armor lock kill and the 'cheevo popped. Quite interesting...
I've seen this pop with almost any vehicle AL kill, Mongooses seem to be the hardest to drop, but ghost drivers seem to love giving this achievement away, although cocky banshee drivers have too.
As said, breakpoint seems to be the map of choice for this, indeed, It's where I got it too, there seem to be 2 strategy's to this:
1)
Bait the driver with some DMR fire, and he'll most likely try charging you, drop into armour lock about a second before he hits, and you should get a nice fiery explosion to mark your achievement.
2)
Play dumb, face away from an approaching ghost like you've not seen him, natural arrogance and the possibility for a free kill will lure him into splattering you, keep an eye on the radar, and engage your lock when you see him approaching, the sound of him boosting his ghost should be fairly obvious too, this is especially effective if you strafe, then stop, like you're scoping in on something.

All you have to do is kill someone using armor lock and the achievement should pop up. You do not really have to destroy a vehicle.
Want to add on to ShoppingTub and Monkey Pelt.
I got it in Elite Slayer on Anchor 9. I got stuck, Armor Locked to get the Sticky off of me, it bounced off and landed next to the thrower, I came out of Armor Lock (maybe dropping his shields with the EMP blast), Sticky exploded, he died from the explosion, the achievemented popped.
So I think if you kill an opponent with Armor Lock, or using Armor Lock in assistance for the kill, the achievement will unlock.
(and sorry, I don't have a video.)

Interesting, I got this too in normal Slayer on Sword Base by simply killing someone near the lift where everyone camps with Armour Lock. Must be a glitch if it apparently happens a lot.
This is really easy in Elite Slayer if you are willing to swallow your pride a bit.
Go out, act like you are trying to do it, but screw up on purpose a few times. Then try for real after dying a few times. Seems that people start to gun for you if they think you are gonna screw it up.

Easy way to to this is choose a map where you can fall off the edge. Have a player stand near the edge and go into armor lock. Once it runs out and explodes, the shockwave should knock them off to their death and the achievement unlocks with no vehicle needed.
Make a party of 12 (6 players with an extra controller works just fine).
Search the Invasion playlist - you're looking for normal Invasion on Breakpoint.
In the hangar where the Spartan's spawn, you'll find a warthog or two. Make sure that you exit with the vehicle as you cannot re-enter the hangar. Where the Elites spawn, you'll find a ghost. Make sure to grab it before you descend the mountain side as you cannot get back up. The ghost works best as it's much faster.
Crash into someone who is using armor lock for your cheevo.
Only the Spartans get Armor Lock so Elites will have to wait to swap sides.
After using the other guides to no avail, I found the Invasion playlist was a lot more promising.

This achievement can only be unlocked in Matchmaking within any competitive playlist that has a loadout with the Armor Lock ability and a vehicle. To get an Armor Lock kill, you must wait until an enemy vehicle (preferably a smaller vehicle, such as the Ghost or Mongoose) attempts to splatter you. Just before the vehicle hits, activate Armor Lock. If done properly, the vehicle should explode upon contact and you will get your achievement. The easiest playlist for this achievement is Big Team Battle, as there are more enemies and maps with vehicles on them.
