This is a real simple achievement to gain, all you have to do is when you running low on ammo or when you would like to obtain a firearm that one of your allies as got just simple walk up to him and once you see the prompt to trade weapons then press it.
It really is as simple as that, beaware though that not all of your allies will be wanting to swap weapons with you, which means no promt will show.

i'd liek to add that if you start with the campaign, the first area you can get the achievement is when you meet up with the marines on the first mission.

I didn't swap a weapon until the final mission of the game and the achievement didn't unlock so it can't be that simple :P

On the second chapter find a marine and make sure you have a diffrent weapon then them and hold X (by defult) to trade weapons simple as that.

To swap weapons with a Marine you need to first not have the same weapon as them as either your primary OR secondary, then walk up to them and press and hold
to swap.
Part way through Mission 2 you will be told that some Marines are stranded and need rescuing, find them and this will be your first opportunity to swap weapons with an ally.
This can be unlocked on any difficulty and at any time you see a marine in campaign

Easy and simple, in some missions of the game you will find soldiers, just get close to them and hold to change weapons with him (I believe that only to change if it is a weapon different from yours), very useful when he has a DMR or a weapon that you like.

To trade weapons with a AI ally (Not a Sparton, a trooper) must press and hold 
near them. If they are not facing you, hold and they will turn around to face you to swap weapons. You cannot swap weapons if you have no ammo for that particular gun. It is okay if it has low ammo, but cannot be completely out.
