How to unlock the Pension Plan achievement in Halo: Spartan Assault - Definitive Guide
I got gold about 2/3 of the time without even trying. With menu and load time, it's almost 2 minutes per round, putting you at 25k in no time.
The Hollow skull means you only have a shield, so you can't go too crazy. Even then, I only died 3-4 times in 40-50 runs through the level. If you really wanted you could try to get your shield back my using melee (that's what Black Eye does), but that will probably cause more deaths than it saves since you get shot pretty quick.
Good tip in a comment from Darkened Night. If you do end up with low shields, you have a Regeneration Field as your AA. I had actually forgotten all about that while I was playing.
Thank you for the solution, I thought about using skulls and never thought about using the first level.
Basically if you shoot you will lose shields but you have a regen shield to heal. Use the pistol to one shot distant grunts or melee (your choice) and use the grenades or machine guns kill elites the elites. Also just a tip if you can try and get a killionare on the grunts at the start. You should have just about enough points for gold or to easily make it to gold.
But just wait till you have finished all the missions and gotten Gold Stars on them so you reduce the amount of time needed to grind.
Buy a sniper rifle
Every match an easy gold and you are a monster. Sure, you don't gain any xp per-se as you spend the 1000xp you earn but if it's your last achievement who cares :)
Hollow x3
Pacifist x3
Famine x1.5
Black Eye x2.5
Thunderstorm x2
Blind x2
Hollow and Pacifist are the highest combo, but for some reason it only adds up to five if you select them both. Hollow and Famine are great on levels where you use a vehicle the entire time, like B5. Pacifist does deplete vehicle health and it doesn't recover at all.
I'll show you in this video an easy way to get the Gold Medal with no mistake, and the skulls will multiply the experience x4,5. So instead of get 200, you'll get 900 every 2 minutes. So in the than 1 hour you'll get the achievement and you'll be prepared to buy any object you need.
This achievement is cumulative between both the Single Player and Co-Op Modes. Chances are, even after you have finished every Co-Op achievement and a majority of the Single Player achievements, you will still not have this achievement. Despite this annoyance, do not be afraid to actually spend your Spartan Points on weapons, boosters, or armor abilities in the pre-game lobby of each mission, as subtracting points from your total does not harm the achievement progress.
There is a simple way to grind this achievement out that involves very little skill and does not take anymore than thirty minutes – although you will not even have to grind that long if you are using this method post game after you’ve already obtained some thousand-odd points.
Basically, load up Operation A, Mission 1. You will want to turn on both the Black Eye and Hollow skulls, because these will give you a 4.5x Multiplier to your overall score at the end of the mission. Once the missions starts, simply proceed to eliminate all the enemies that spawn. There are just about twenty-nine Covenant forces to kill, and once you know where they all spawn, this mission should literally take one minute and fifteen seconds to complete. By the end of the match, you should be gaining around 900XP.
If you are using this method right off the bat, then simply do this anywhere from twenty-five to thirty times and the achievement will unlock. As stated above, that would only take you thirty minutes tops. If you are using this method after finishing all the Single Player and Co-Op missions, you’ll unlock the achievement sooner.
While 25,000 XP may seem like quite a daunting task, it should eventually come as you repeat missions to get more stars and complete challenges (which also give XP). You may also want to use a skull or two, depending on how confident you are at the game (I played most of the levels with at least Hollow on).
