How to unlock the 117 achievement in Halo: Spartan Assault - Definitive Guide

117

External image

The first thing I would like to say is don't panic, this achievement is not as hard as it seems, it is actually quite easy. Here is a list of how much points you need for each mission, which is very useful and you cannot look in the mission so ill put a list here for you to look at:

I recommend the first thing you do is complete every mission, and don't worry about the stars at first because once you go through all the missions (which you will have to a few times anyways for the other achievements) you will get an idea of every mission. Also having XP is the most important thing to doing this. If you need XP to go for this achievement (buying the required things) then follow this great XP boost guide by AL1

Halo: Spartan AssaultPension PlanThe Pension Plan achievement in Halo: Spartan Assault worth 96 pointsEarn 25000 XP throughout your career

Now once you have say about 25k-40k XP (a good range, honestly I only needed 15k XP, but I did some hard work on missions for my first run-through and got plenty of golds) just run through the missions you don't have gold star in and use this load-out:

ARMOR ABILITY: (XP cost)
Overshield 400 XP

BOOSTER
Score Booster 1000 XP

SKULLS:
No skulls, they do not increase your in game score towards this achievement, so make it easier on yourself!

If you are comming close to the end of a mission and you know your score isnt near what you need I would recommend restarting the mission so you can keep your XP instead of wasting it. But if you keep trying and cannot get a gold star, just change your primary or secondary weapon into the Spartan Laser or Rocket launcher because those can kill fast..

KEY TO GETTING A LOT OF POINTS AND A HIGH SCORE:
The best way to get points is by killing enemies really fast and keeping the multikill going, when you hit 10 (Killionaire) it will keep getting Killionaires, worth ALOT of points. another thing you should know is if you see Covenant vehicles or Turrets laying around, destroying them counts as a kill and gives you points with a medal, just dont waste good ammo on them like rocket launcher or Spartan laser if there is no enemy in them.

I also recommend using vehicles, for instance when I found the Wraith, which can be high jacked no matter what (Don't get splattered trying, run around to the side spamming X) I would drive it around as fast as I could spamming the fire buttons and killing enemies as fast as I can, this usually is the best way to get kills without the spartan laser or Rocket launcher.

Tip from https://www.trueachievements.com/xMidget+Furyx.htm:

It should be noted yes, however with that said I only had trouble with 2 of the levels needing adjusted strategies. I did end up using a rocket launcher and score booster for mission F-1. Finished with a score of 200k. Not going as fast as possible, and only moving to the left far enough to get the enemies to come to me. Shotgun the grunts rocket to the elites to keep the streak going.

The video is for getting all Gold in the operations, very well done by Nak3d Eli, all credit goes to him.

Coop doesn't count. You must get the gold medals on the One, it doesn't count if you earned the gold score on W8 or WP. Fortunately, you can log in to halowaypoint.com and look at your career for Spartan Assault. Under the large star showing your overall rating, you can click the drop down to select Xbox One to see which missions you earned gold on just on the console. (Sadly, medal counts, kill counts, and armor ability uses don't show up, so you still have to track those manually if you need to separate counts from those earned on other platforms.)

Now, once I went back and finished the last two levels on gold, it didn't pop for me, either. I just ran through the levels as quickly as I could starting from A-1, and when I completed E-5 (with a pretty low score, well below gold), 117 popped. I couldn't begin to guess why. (I already had all the "Complete Operation [A-F]" achievements, and Waypoint showed me earning gold on all levels on the One, so I know I had completed them all on the One already.)

Cyberknight- you're wrong. the medals, assault ops. requirements, XP, Credits, etc. ALL go between all platforms of this game. the only thing that does not is level progression. you MUST complete all levels individually of the platforms to make the achievements for completing operations A-F. once all gold stars, or assault ops are completed, simply log in to the alternate version you are wanting the achievement for. if you are going for let's say the "complete all mission objectives on mission F" or the "complete all mission F levels at gold", well load up and level in campaign then get any medal, or complete any mission specific objective (not necessarily one you haven't done on the platform you are currently using. if you have no challenges left to complete, complete a weekly challenge.) this game is designed to be played for cross-platform playability, to which there would be none of if the games made you start from scratch on every platform. your stats, DO go back and forth between the Win 8, Win phone, and Xbox one, presumably the Xbox360 will follow suite. i know this to work as it is how i am getting my achievements.

*note, level specific achievements like the "use every turret to take out a target" MUST be completed individually per platform for attainment.

If you got all gold's from the WP does it actually count towards this achievement? Or do I have to hit the point goals again?

@GodfatherNr1 use the spartan laser or/and rocket launcher, kill all enemies and turrets as fast as you can while completing the objectives and you will get the points you need.

Is there any specific advice for level F-1, or a video? It's the only one I can't seem to get, having a tough time even breaking 85,000, let alone 120,000. I've tried a couple different combinations of taking my time and speed-running, and nothing seems to work.

So I have all 30 gold medals (shows on Waypoint too) but my achievement won't unlock??

I used a score booster in a couple - would this have made a difference?

I've only got the X1 version - no 360, WP8 or W8 versions ever played...

Redo a few missions, score boosters don't matter, but I had this same thing happen to me, there is a map or 2 glitched, and re-playing the mission will unlock the achievement.

Okay, cool. Do I need to Gold medal them again, or just complete them?

I've done A and F, I'll do B, C and D tomorrow. Fingers crossed!

Thanks for the quick response too.

If I remember correctly, you don't need to get gold again, but mark the ones you don't get gold on and if you don't get the achievement at the end get gold again on the ones you didn't get gold on.

Nice guide - As you say they are not too difficult if you know where the enemies are coming from. Keep getting the Killpocalypse medals and the score rockets up. For the tougher missions I put the score booster on and equipped both the spartan laser and rocket launcher and flew through smile

I have replayed all of the missions and it still does not want to unlock. What are some options/thoughts on getting it to work. The achievement counter shows 100% (but is locked), the game shows all gold medals (but no achievement) and Halo Waypoint is showing all golds as well.

I did use some boosts in the later levels but that should not matter... I saw some solution for deleting the save game (and I may have to revert to that) but I wanted to see if anyone could think of another solution.

Video guides by Naked Eli are not accurate for 360/X1. The scores are different, the ability selection is switched around, and items are not in the same places.

It's an okay guide(I won't give a negative vote), but it really should be noted the the version in the videos is not the same as the console.

Have you tried deleting the game, then re-installing - then run one of the easy missions again and get gold?? Don't know if it works, but it has for me on other games where I have met the requirements and no achievement popped. If that doesn't work, then i'd go through all the missions again to get gold again - just in case one of them hasn't registered properly. Good luck tho

Btw - although the Windows Version and Xbox Version don't share achievements, they share progression. So if for instance you're missing a gold star in one mission, try doing it on PC. For me I got nowhere near a gold star in Mission D-5 because of the horrific turret aiming on game pad but I got it on my first try on PC. Restarted the game on Xbox and it also showed the gold star as well as tracked it on the xbox achievment.

f1 wasn’t bad at all imo. Go all out and get score boost, rocket and splaser and then wait around in the first building that you have to enter and score as many multikills as you can. First try 164k

Very good guide, however videos are not from Xbox One - levels are slightly different. As a result you need to have a different approach for some levels (I am with D5 now, where on video there is ammo spot next to first turret - I do not have this spot in Xbox One version). Maybe you can put some note - that videos are not from Xbox One, therefore levels and the required scores are slightly different once a while... but still - this is very good solution! :) Thumbs up!

Hey Spartans! Strategy One has a great text overview for this particular achievement; however the videos aren't necessarily accurate with the scoring needed for the 360/xbone versions of the game.

I know the game is old, but I decided to make a complete guide covering all the missions with gold stars AND the spartan assault ops objectives. I show the fastest way to complete these. I also show how to get gold stars without using an xp bonuses or weapon upgrades (just in case you may not have enough xp to purchase a boost I wanted to show getting a gold star is possible with the starting equipment). Of course, if you want to make any particular mission easier feel free to grab one of the score bonuses prior to starting the mission. I hope you find it helpful!!

As you play the game you will notice a score counter on the bottom of your screen. Killing enemies and achieving medals increase your score. Each mission has 3 tiers bronze, silver, and gold. The best way to go about getting the highest score in each level is to take it slow and kill everything on the map. Don't take it too slow though, you definitely want to chain your kills quickly together to obtain the best medals like Killionaire and Killing Frenzy. Getting melee kills on lonely enemies scattered around earn you more points than if you just shoot them as you run by them. If you are still having an issue there is a Booster called "Score Booster" in which increases points for kills and medals. For a quick way to grind XP to buy Score Boosters check the Pension Plan achievement.

Operation A

  • Mission 1-5 All of these missions basically test your ability to quickly move through the level, while maintaining a kill streak and getting multikills whenever possible. These are by far the easiest missions in the game (with one or two exceptions).

Operation B

  • Mission 1 - Start off by purchasing the sniper rifle in place of your magnum. For the duration of the level you'll want to use your assault rifle on the suicide Grunts and the sniper rifle on the Elites and Major Grunts to keep your killionaire spree going. There is an assault rifle ammo cache right next to where you start out to keep you stocked up, and for the entirety of the mission you'll want to stay a bit beyond that, in the middle of the map, covering all three "lanes" the enemies come down, picking them off one by one.
  • Mission 2 - Very straightforward, simply stay on top of the enemy spawn points in both areas where you must protect the Wolverines. Since both points have two spawn points, you can keep tossing the flame grenades at one point to kill anything that spawns (the flames persist for a little bit) while you focus on the other one. You should be able to double the score that you need for gold (200k) with relative ease.
  • Mission 3 - This one is a bit tight, but I recommend purchasing the AutoSentry to help add some firepower, as finishing this quick adds quite a bit to your score. I also recommend grabbing the needler (replace your AR) off of the first group of Jackals to the NE of where you spawn and keep it as your primary weapon. From the start, continue NE and clear that area out prior to the SW area as this seems to be the best score wise for whatever reason.
  • Mission 4 - At the very start of the mission, rush to the midpoint of the bridge and get in the Wraith, then backtrack and start clearing the bridge of all enemies using the Wraith. There's a pretty high chance the mortar will hit the Wraith before you get in it, so make sure you avoid the explosive barrels, and other things that might kill you while you quickly clear the bridge, kill the tank and the end of the bridge, and head down the left path at the fork. Once you reach the wall at the end of the path, continue shooting your mortar from here to clear out all the enemies on the far side of the wall. At this point you should have well over the required score, so just finish the level and you're done.
  • Mission 5 - Practice. Once you get the location of each Wraith within your mind, as well as where there are Ghosts in relation to those Wraiths, getting 90k for this gold will become exceptionally easier. The practice will also hone your ability to move the tank, which I found quite difficult on a keyboard (especially compared to the Wraith). In general, start the level off by heading straight North, then around to the East and South to create a sort of horseshoe shape back toward where you started.

Operation C

  • Mission 1 - Move fast. You can start off by using all of your starting grenades to clear out every group of enemies that you see, and carry that killing spree for as long as possible after that. Enemies group up a lot on this narrow path, so use grenades effectively for the rest of the level to maximize your score.
  • Mission 2 -Starting out you'll probably want to grab the sprint ability near to your left, the focus rifle a bit above you and the assault rifle one screen to the right of the starting point. The assault rifle will be used to deal with the regular Covenant, while the focus rifle will take out the Drones that spawn. Once the Ghosts spawn, immediately head to the top of the map and hijack the ghost, which you will use in a C-shaped route around the starting area to clear out the enemies that spawn once you save the engineers.
  • Mission 3 - Use your grenades to blow up the first couple of Wraiths, and when you see the regular (non-anti aircraft) Wraith, use your camouflage to help you get along side it and hijack it. Use this to clear a path to the top of the map where the enemies are spawning and then just keep dropping mortars on the enemy spawn point to rack up a high score.
  • Mission 4 - If you're like me, the cloaking Elites probably tick you off, which means you'll want to buy the sniper rifle to take them out quicker. They make up a good chunk of the level, and you'll have a pretty good boost in points with the sniper rifle, just make sure from around the second sniper location and on that you check beyond the last sniper in your group every now and then as enemies will spawn behind you a couple of times and the snipers die quick.
  • Mission 5 - Another defense mission. There will be two waves of drones that come from the right and some enemies coming from the left. Once you've cleared out the first two drone waves on foot, hop into the left turret to start racking up the points on the enemies that spawn on the left, top left and top of the screen. In the last minute or so of the mission a bunch of Brutes, Elites and Suicide Grunts will spawn, which is your queue to hop out of the turret and take them out on foot so you don't die if they blow up the turret.

Operation D

  • Mission 1 - They key for this relatively short mission is to spend the entirety of it killing enemies, as you will have plenty of time to spare after completing the objectives. I recommend spending 1k credits on a sniper rifle to easily cut down the many Brutes and Elites that spawn to help rack up the points quicker.
  • Mission 2 - Clear out the first area with Marines on foot, then head to the second and hop on the machine gun turret to clear that one out. Between location two and three there will be some ghosts on the left - grab one. Clear up to the third location with Marines and continue past it to the left to keep your spree going. Just make sure you're not on the Ghost if it blows up and you should be ok.
  • Mission 3 - You'll start this mission out in a Grizzly, which you'll want to roll in until you reach a wall that you can't pass. Near the wall will be a couple of ghosts, one of which you'll want to hijack to bypass the wall and continue running over baddies until you've destroyed all the fuel rod turrets (make sure you keep moving while on the ghost to avoid fire from all the turrets).
  • Mission 4 - The most important thing to keep in mind in this level is that you need to get multikills, which means focus on the groups of Suicide Grunts and try to use a Suicide Grunt to blow up nearby Elites. The biggest jump in points will come in the last few seconds, so once you reach the damaged part of the bridge, head to the front of the Elephant to start clearing out the groups of enemies that spawn on the front left and right of the Elephant.
  • Mission 5 - Use the turrets to really rack up the score, but be sure to fire in bursts! Also, time your shots on the suicide Grunts to take out multiple enemies when they explode.

Operation E

  • Mission 1 - Purchase a Sniper Rifle (replace the Magnum) and save it for the waves of Elites and Brutes at the end of the mission.
  • Mission 2 - Replace the focus rifle starting weapon with the sniper rifle and make sure you save it for the Elites and Brutes that spawn at the end of the level. Use your smgs to take out the Grunts - a second pair can be found on the right side of the wreckage you start near - and if you need them there are a few alternative abilities at the weapon caches near the outer wall of the area you need to protect, most importantly a regen shield. There is also a shotgun a few feet from where you start the level that you can use to gun down enemies later on as well. Your priority is to hold the outer line of walls to keep the Engineer safe, while the enemies come from either side of the small chasm in front of you. As always, work to keep the Killionaire going, meaning aim for suicide grunts that are in groups and definitely use the incendiary grenade to take out big groups quickly.
  • Mission 3 - When the mission starts, rush up the right side to the tank. Use this for the remainder of the mission (the guys in the rocks to the bottom left will eventually come to you) to get a more than sufficient score.
  • Mission 4 - Cruise through the first 20 seconds or so until you see the empty ghost on your left and hop in that. You can either stick to this for the duration, or stay in it until you see the first Wraith and hijack that (recommended). The real cash cow in points in this level is the area with the officer Elite guy on the left behind some walls with a turret where the drones spawn. In the Wraith, basically spam mortars on the edge of the cliff where the drones spawn to seriously rack up some points.
  • Mission 5- For this boss mission, I recommend going through it quick for a big bonus in the speed score. You'll also want to combo the enemies as they come through the door before the boss appears to boost your kill score. Once the boss spawns, stand in the middle near where the infinite plasma grenades spawn, and grenade the boss until he recovers his shield. He'll split into four and you'll need to grenade each location to find him and he'll stop recovering his health. The first time he does this he'll have two swords when he starts to fight you again, so watch out. The second time he'll have the two swords and a hardlight shield. Keep using grenades and you'll kill him in no time.
