How to unlock the Vidmaster Challenge 2.0 achievement in Halo: Spartan Assault - Definitive Guide

WORLDEATER's guide is good, but after I died a few times I said screw it and used the Spartan Laser, which basically makes this a joke. There may be ways to make this even easier but this is how I did it.

1. Make sure you keep the shotgun, and get the laser in the other weapon slot.

2. Use the enemy leashing to your advantage; most enemies will not chase you far at all, and with the default active cammo armor ability it's pretty easy to get away.

3. Kill all invisible sword elites with your shotgun (to save laser ammo), and pick up the assault rifle from dead marines if you can after the shotgun is out. Also, you may have to use the beat down on the invisible enemies because they seem to take a ridiculous amount of shots if you aren't using the shotgun.

4. Pop the active cammo and fire the laser if you feel you're in trouble, you can usually kill every enemy onscreen even with thunderstorm on.

5. Go to the bottom left core first killing all the invisible enemies first, so you don't get boxed in when you get to the core. Fire the laser as soon as you get a clean shot.

6. Then go the the bottom/middle right core 2nd, use the laser right away, go to the 3rd, do the same, and then it's just basically clean up. If you conserved your laser ammo you can just use that to kill the last few enemies on the top left.

Glad my up-vote has put your guide as number 1. Its definitely the easiest way to do this achievement.

Thanks. Not sure it's the easiest, but definitely easier.

I found the Auto-Sentry to be extremely useful throughout the entire game when going for Achievements like this one and getting Gold Stars. It doesn't target the cloaked enemies but it's great against everything else. I took the Spartan Laser with me but only used it for taking out those Orbs quickly. I honestly could have done it just as easily with grenades though.

You need a few grenades to take out each orb, and they aren't always readily available. Also, as the guide states the camo is nice if you get in a tough spot you can get away and regroup.

Has anyone reported this as being buggy? I've met the requirements 8 times now using a different loadout each time and it won't pop.

I did this right after the game came out, I know there has been at least one update since. I don't know if that is what's causing issues or what.

Odd that damage boost isn't mentioned here. Thunderstorm + damage boost is basically a push on how long / how much ammo it takes to kill things, making this achievement trivial.

I did downvote you because your solution is so ridiculously complicated when all you need is overshield and damage booster. Then run through whilst constantly recharging the overshield, only stopping to pick up grenades to throw at the targets.

My down vote has now gone as I have now posted my own solution

This achievement is obtained on Operation F Mission 4.

You have to use the Blind and Thunderstorm skulls active and complete the level. Blind removes your HUD while Thunderstorm makes the enemies tougher. I'm personally think it makes them throw more grenades and bullet sponges. Melee kills them way easier then bullets if you get an opportunity. In this mission you want to destroy 3 light balls one in the southwest, another in the southeast, and the last one, in the northeast. You come with the cloak armor ability and have 2 Spartans that respawn and follow you. Use them to distract the enemy while you are completing the objective. The shotgun and grenades take down the balls relatively quickly. Lastly head north and kill the enemies on the bridge and head through the door to complete the level.

Oh, and one other thing - you can make the enemy laser auto-sentries take out the orbs on the East for you, saving some grenades if you need.

Phew, I actually found this pretty tough. Like it was said above, I found the overshield helped a ton, and patience is key. They stop respawning eventually.

Just got this and wanted to add a few notes. First, the Spartans allies respawn a finite number of times. I wasn't counting how many, but was sad when they stopped coming back to help me out around the 3rd orb. Second, I found having the overshield made this a lot easier than the default camo ability. With no HUD, being able to pop overshield constantly really helped with some of the bigger firefights. Last, I highly recommend picking up the standard Spartan rifle from a dead ally - they continue to drop ammo for it as they die and it seems to be pretty effective overall.

Every single ones of those are making this ridiculously complicated. It really is as simple as:

1. Loadout: overshield and damage booster.

2. Run past everything only stopping to pick up grenades and maybe shoot anything in the way. Just keep on using overshield the whole time (it recharges really quick)

3. When you reach the targets, just move around throwing grenades at it until it blows up. Then run away.

That's it: took me a few minutes at most.

Agreed, take my upvote. Saw those really long solutions for a short level where the skulls really aren't that difficult and figured they were overkill. Just another case of earlier solutions being rated higher than better solutions

This is spot on, really didn't even struggle at all! Got it on the first try, without even really thinking about it.
Also you get a free overshield and damage boost for completing halo 4 so cost nothing if you've not redeemed them

Uh.... I got it first try and it was super simple. I Loaded up with I am L0cutus' load out, Laser, Shotgun, Active Camo but added the Damage booster. I didn't need to.

The path I took was Left, destroy that one with a Shade, right, back to start, up, camo past the drones, right, down, grenade number two, return left, go up, camo past the drones again, right, blew up that one with grenades, camo away from the brute, continue top left, camo up to the shade in the middle of the enemies and kill all 6 of them. Ran for the rendezvous points and completed the mission with a score of sub 50K.

The invisible guys I just sneaked around and left them alone or I camoed and shot them up close with the shotguns. With the damage boost all of the cores take 2 grenades to blow up.

Never used the laser during the entire mission so don't waste your money.

Videoguide for Halo:Spartan Assault, how to get Vidmaster challenge 2.0 achievement. We must first select mision f-4 and we've got to activate
the storm skull wich will make enemies more diffiuclt and blind us so we wont be able to see neither the minimap, ammo and life.
My commendation would be to use invisibility as much as possible and move around the invisible enemies that bother us, meanwhile we hit them on meele,
(that way they wont be able to damage us) with a bit of practice you will be able to do this fast and easy.At the beggining of the video I speak in Spanish but it's just and introduction and I don't say anything relevant.

If anyone make a negative vote please tell me why, so I can improve my future videos.
Greets.

In the pre-game lobby, make sure to turn on both the Blind and Thunderstorm skulls. With these two skulls activated, Blind will remove your HUD entirely and Thunderstorm will increase the damage that enemies can take before they die. The former skull shouldn’t be much of a problem, as you shouldn’t need to rely on your ammo gauge or shields bar that often anyways. As for the Thunderstorm skull, you’ll most likely be running past all the enemies in the mission so again, it won’t be much of an issue. If you have the Spartan Points, I would recommend buying either the Sniper Rifle or Rocket Launcher to rid of enemies quicker and to destroy the fusion cores much quicker as well.

The three fusion cores are located in the bottom left of the map, bottom right, and top right. You start out the mission with two fellow Spartans and the Active Camo ability, so use the AA and your AI to your advantage in picking off enemies or slipping by enemies when necessary.

Once you have destroyed all the fusion cores, proceed to the top section of the map where you will need to clear out a few Elites and Jackals before crossing a light bridge. Once you enter the tunnel at the end of the bridge, the mission will end and your achievement will unlock.
